what kind of effects would a 50 caliber type round (specifically 13.2mm tuf) have on a large grizzly bear? What about a person?
>>27951921
>what kind of effects
a good effect if you are the one shooting them unless they are behind large amounts of high grade steel
>>27951921
my fathers 8mm magnum put football sized holes into elk, so a bullet four times as large would likely blow a man in half if hit from the front, or bisect him if he was prone. It would definetley take off limbs. Kodiaks can get well over a ton though so i dont know

One of my work associates recently purchased a Katana from someone for 200$. From the construction of the blade it was obviously a hand forged piece. When we took a look at the Tang these kanji were chiseled into the metal. It looks like a maker's signature but I cannot read Japanese. Can anyone translate what these kanji are?
>>27951721
It reads: Made in USA
>>27951721
I hate to break it to you, but your friend didn't buy a katana. What you have there is a sheet of graph paper.
>>27951721
The one on the bottom vaguely resembles fire to me (might be water or something like that)
It's been a while since I voluntarily listened to my weeb-ass father prattle on and show off how he's fluent in Japanese though...
/k/'s opinion on this? Was the cop in the right?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVj7Jjq1D_M
>>27951659
>calling the cops on a suicidal person
literally makes suicide even easier if the person just has to walk forward at a cop than actually cutting themselves.
>>27951659
Yes he was in the right, he gave the guy ample opportunity to stop. If the lady didn't want him in the home to interact with him she shouldn't have let him.
>>27951659
Yes.
I met Hickok45 and son today.
I am 6ft. 225lbs for reference.
I listened to him Q&A for an hour and a half, please feel free to ask me shit, and if it was mentioned I'll post what he said.
>>27951608
>oh fuck not this shit again
Is what is plastered over hickoks face.
>>27951608
he's a big guy
>>27951608
He looks so friendly and relaxed, I wonder if the youtube comments are getting to him
Is there a game more alpha than Russian Roulette?
>>27951572
Bare backing hookers.
>>27951572
Yes. It's called "Not blowing your brains out like an angsty teen".
>>27951572
Real alpha's don't do stupid shit with such a high probability of dying for no reason. They go out and get shit done.
If I wore full tactical body armour, level 4 plates back and front, with extra protection everywhere during a home invasion would I be in any trouble with the law?
Also if I wore this during a SHTF situation would I attract unnecessary attention as someone who has military gear?
Level 4 plate doesn't stop .50 BMG AP. Most home invaders use that caliber now desu.
Depends on your state.
Yes.
>>27951454
>>27951476
What kind of stupid fucking state would get you in trouble for wearing armor?
Ok /k/, post your PMG abominations.

No gear thread? Come on /k/, looking at y'alls expensive shit is how I keep from blowing all my money improving my cheap as kit.
Anyway, need a gear recommendation. I just spent over $200 on medical equipment, pic related, and don't have a pack to put it all in. It's gonna be both my operatin' and general innawoods med kit, so along with all the shit in the picture I'm gonna have assorted boo boo and bug bite shit. The big SAM splint will probably just have to go in my backpack, and I'll only grab a few gloves out of the box and take a couple of the finger splints, other than that I want to fit all this shit in. The HALO bandage can be folded up. Want the pack in either OD or tan with a velcro spot to put a medic patch on.
And yes, before anyone asks, I do have training and know how to use all this shit.
>>27951379
Forgot to mention, need a MOLLE holster for my CAT too.
Is the warrior assault systems dcs plate carrier any good? Thinking of picking one up in atacs fg

Is this a good belt or is it airshit?
Ok /k/ Im so exited, but i need your help on deciding whether or not i should by this gun.
So at a gun show i went to a couple of hours ago there was a Mauser 1918 for 4k, but i believe i can get it for 2500. It has all the parts with matching serial numbers except for the pistol grip and the trigger (which is just a elongated mauser trigger) which should only set me back 500 bucks. Any ways, i was wondering if /k/ thinks this is a good deal.
When i talked to the guy that had it he said he sold his other one for 9k. Also im planning to shoot this gun every once in a while, the guy said it wouldn't be a problem in terms of safety but that he wouldn't recommend it because of the insane recoil, my other buddy also said it would be worth much more as a collectors piece and that i shouldn't fire it.
Do alot of research first.
How and where are you going to get the spare parts?
Do you have a source or do you have the equipment to make 13.2mm TuF?
>>27951262
posting some more pictures of this awesome rifle
>>27951294
Yeah i am gonna research it all night and hopefully buy it tomorrow. I have a buddy who knows where i can get the trigger (after all its only a elongated normal Mauser trigger) and i can get a grip made for about 500 dollars.
I don't know of any specific places where i could buy ammo and the authentic rounds can be nearly a hundred a piece, i am hoping ill be able to find somebody that makes custom rounds
Post your /k/ related films.
What does /k/ think of this example?
I as an non-american thought this was bretty good, 4/5. I think the film really shows what is to be a proper infantry officer and to function as a part of your men. Especially the part where Joshua Chamberlain fights the little round top.
Sure, the film had some silly and unrealistic scenes and some hollywood heroistics, but overal I think the film was pretty realistic to my understanding.
What does /k/ think of it?
Shame the film didnt do all that well financially, I think it should have.
>>27951252
nobody online?
>>27952558
Nigga you're on fucking 4chan, of course there's people online.
It's just nobody wants to post in the same goddamn thread that gets posted

How did i do on my first shotgun /k/?
Winchester sxp. 12ga 28inch barrel 2 3/4 and 3inch shells. Got it for $310 usd new
No thoughts on this /k/?
>>27951202
If you like guns make in turkey with a Winchester name spattered on
>>27951202
How does it work? I think I might buy one too if I can get it for that price
Am I being a paranoid nut job if I am beginning to lean more towards the mindset that maybe I should have some kind of set up "ready to go" if shit kicks off here like it did in France? By that I mean a particular rifle, ammo, etc. set aside for this purpose? I've never really been one to bother with that "prep" type stuff.
Do you guys think that there is that much of an immediate threat now?
>>27951174
>Do you guys think that there is that much of an immediate threat now?
There is like 100 terrorists in the entire world. They would need to maintain a 100,000,000 to 1 kill ratio to actually be a threat.
So yeah if they start nuking things be afraid, but other than that they are literally no different than the columbine kids.
Well, there are like 20,000 home invasions a year in the US.
You'd be a retard if you thought you needed a gun for Ahmed but not for Jamal.
>>27951214
I have plenty of guns and ammo, and I'm a vet who is more than comfortable dealing with a threat as it is. I was more curious if the current increase in activity and threats has caused any of you to change how you are prepared for whatever.
this savage is more /k/ than any of you will ever be
ooga booga operators general?

Bullshit; I bet he doesn't have a single image of anthropomorphized aircraft in sexually suggestive poses on his hard drive.
Their army:
20,000 soldiers
12,000 reserves
Their airforce:
9 corvettes

From Wikipedia
"In 2013, after Russian air exercises in close proximity to the Swedish border were widely reported, only six percent of Swedes expressed confidence in the ability of the nation to defend itself."

tldr: the ultimate knife thats a cross between self defense and outdoor/general use, under 500 dollars
hey /k/
Completely new to the weapons scene, but I'm looking for a good knife to carry around. I'm moving into a city with a higher crime rate and I'd like to get something to protect myself, but I'd also like to get something that helps out for when i go camping or trekking outdoors
Pic related, it's a multitool i already have
Bike jackets are remarkably useful for defence.
Save money that knife would cost by learning to use your hands.
>Completely new to the weapons scene

How old are you?
