Hey /k/
Considering to buy a katana for home self defense.
I'm most likely going to purchase pic related.
Any suggestions or tips?

I am probably being trolled but i'll bite, I haven't done this in a while.
why do you want a sword? Why not spend 20 bucks on a baseball bat instead? What are you gonna do with the sword besides defending your home with it? A good sword will run you 200 bucks easy. Why not just take that money and put it towards a handgun?
So I work at Gander Mountain, and I sold a Remington 1911 to a tall, very pale man. Throughout the entire exchange, I kept noticing a slight accent coming through every now and then. I eventually worked up the might to ask him where he was from.
Motherfucker tells me Rhodesia. He told me that he got conscripted when he was 18, how he had a Browning Hi-Power and an FN (he specifically did not call it a FAL), and everything else.
I figured this would probably be the only time I would get to ask, so I brought up Ivan and the kebabs. He laughed, and told me he remembered when that whole video was being circulated on bootleg VHS tapes, and how it was pretty much used everywhere as propaganda.
He also brought it up that he still has his FAL (how I couldn't fucking tell you) and that he never gets out to shoot it, and he might even be looking for a buyer.
How much are those even worth on today's market? I currently am sitting on $6,000+ in funds.
>Rhodesia
>Ivan
Unless I'm missing something, I don't think those time frames line up.

Yea what "video"?
>>27962832
>Ivan and the kebabs
You mean from Serbia?
>bootleg tapes
What?
>FAL
>$6000
Fuck off
Post your kill(s) this season and what weapon used, dropped these two this evening, top was shot with 270 and bottom was shot with 243, top was shot while sprinting bottom dropped while walking

What state? You evil poacher.
>>27962733
They were killed in Alabama my family owns like 90 acres up here, and the season just opened yesterday so technically not poaching
>>27962745
not that anon you replied to but in my book it ain't poaching if you eat em. Every deer I've ever took was with a six pack on the floor board with a spotlight and shotgun out the window.
I want to carry a knife for protection and my city only allows 2" and under knifes to be carried concealed.. Right now I'm carrying a Spyderco Chicago. Got any other ideas?
open carry a katana
Cary open. A folding knife, or even a modestly sized fixed blade, does not draw too much attention worn on the belt.

Kinda sexy, kinda autistic.....I want it.

Does this count?
>Obsolete aircraft with dogshit EPS pods that failed more than they worked in SW and OD
???
Tldr: Which should I get, VG1 or San Mai iii CS SRK? Any other suggestions on mid-sized "jack of all trades" knives?
I've been looking for a knaifu, in other words a knife that will be with me at all times and a companion of sorts through any ordeal. After much searching, I found the Cold Steel SRK and have decided to get one. I can't seem to decide on the full VG1 blade or the San Mai iii version. Here are my thoughts so far:
VG1:
Pros-
Black finish is sexy AF, even after it starts to wear away.
Has a saber grind which means there is a lesser chance of edge damage during heavy-duty tasks
Cons-
The blade is made entirely out of VG1, making it more likely to snap than the San Mai iii laminate.
San Mai ii:
Pros-
The laminate of tougher stainless on the outside makes the knife less likely to snap under high stress.
Cons-
The hollow-ground blade is more likely to take damage.
My primary goal is to get suggestions on which version of the knife is better and why.
If anyone has any suggestions on alternate knaifus, my goal is a knife that can always be on my hip or in my bag without any major inconvenience, so it can be used for self defense, basic utility, and potential survival situations at all times. As such, it needs to be medium size (5-7 inches, maybe more but diffidently not less), be strong enough for me to stake my life on in a survival situation and generally have the crap beaten out of it. Be able to perform finer tasks such as carving fairly well (once again, some super thick awkward blade would not be ideal). Finally, it should have some variety of clip point to allow it to work well as a staber in a tactical situation.
Any info or suggestions are welcome.
Oh, one more thing, I'm looking for a knife that's under $150 or so, maybe just a little over. The San Mai iii is $100, and the VG1 is even less.

>not getting an ESEE knife
Do you even operate though?
>>27962392
The only one that comes close to what I want is the ESEE-CM6, and I can't find many reviews, demonstrations, or hard use/destructive testing videos.
Mismatched or DIY modified operator gear especially welcome.
>>27962011
what are those sights called and where can I get one....
>>27962011
>you will never operate in a DPM smock over US Woodland fatigues with your battle buddy between your legs

Aimpoint 3000/5000
I was just offered this rifle for 300, its on perfect condition, no rust and everything checks out. Its a .22 and comes with a few mags. Thoughts? Or should I pass.
General .22 to condense threads too
>>27962002
Here is another picture, and the last one I have. It's got a flashlight on it as you can see in this picture.
Don't do it OP. There's no such thing as a good tactical .22.

Why do people have special courses for women? I mean, are there really differences between how men should shoot and how women should shoot?

Russian fighter shoots down a drone. I forget whose drone it was.
Please convince me not to buy this /k/. I already carry a perfectly good .380 bodyguard.
buy beer instead
BILL OF RIGHTS NOT A BILL OF NEEDS, BUY IT YOU FAGGOT. WHAT? DO YOU HATE FREEDOM OR SOMETHING? ARE YOU SOME SORT OF FASCIST COMMIE MUSLIM TERRORIST? BUY IT
Well, 9mm Parabellum has about twice the muzzle energy of .380 ACP.
There's benefits and drawbacks to that.
Any recommendations on my next gun?
Currently have:
Sks
Ak47/akm
Colt 6940
Scar 17s
Benelli m4
Remington 870
Wouldn't mind having:
Tavor bullpup
M1 Garand
HK G36
DP12
What else should I get that's not on the list?
Also random gun pic thread
I find your lack of mosins disturbing
Glock 19 or CZ75
and git gewd with a handgun.
Any field artillery vets here? What would your advice be for a know-nothing future LT?
I just found out I'll be going active duty field artillery as an officer sometime this next year.
I know nothing about FA right now. I just ordered a couple books about it as well as FM 3-09.
I wanna kill as many ISIS as possible via deafening steel-storm of destruction.

Gonna be a fire direction officer then? Listen to the FDC chief and the digital master gunner. Don't be a cunt that just pretends to do things so you can look good in front of the higher ups.
>>27961647
>proving how little I know right now
Would those positions be in my platoon or battery? I'd think a master gunner would be an E7?
What were your least favorite and favorite parts of the officers you served with?
>>27961688
E-6 will be your FDC chief, E-5 should be your master computer operator, E-7 should be your digital master gunner.
I couldn't stand most of the FDOs that I had, because a lot of them cared more about earning their golden kneepads than actual fire missions.
Looking for a budget 1911, just for the collection to say I have one. Looking for
>Reliable operation, in case I want to use it for steel challenge
>Under $600, I want to add a 1911 to the collection, not swith to the church of Browning
>No fucking GI sights
>I'm going to do a little polishing on it no matter what, so the trigger can be meh
>As long as the finish doesn't rust in the box I don't care blued/parkerized/stainless
Anything out there that meets these criteria?
Also, 1911 general.
Rock Island tac or Springfield mil spec is in your price range. Both are fantastic budget 1911s. You're welcome
>>27961455
No, now enjoy your slew of awful near-future bullshit.
>>27961390
I have heard miles of shit talking on the RIA GI, is the tac immune to the same issues? Friends GI model safety got stuck and had to be sent to the factory
Is there an online machining and stamping guide for the SVD? I know there's plenty of build guides for AK/RPK pattern rifles but what about muh based SVD? I have access to a pretty large metal working shop so its not entirely out of reach.
>>27961301
>flandre to the nearest courtesy phone please
>>27961301
nope, anything dimension related to SVD's are unobtainium.
you're welcome to try to replicate it though, but without anything to go on you're gonna be winging it pretty hard.
>>27961380
yeah thats what I was worried about, the friend who owns the shop has some pretty high tech super expensive shit in there so if I could just get the dimensions I could make one that won't blow up in my face.
