first for seals better than rangers
Are French special forces actually as competent as everyone here says they are?
I've been underwhelmed by most of the available resources that show their training (including the official French army videos), especially when comparing such resources to whatever you can find on American SOF units. Is it because their budget is much lower or something?
Are the guys just huge underdogs and purposefully make all the info available on them appear mediocre, or is there a concrete difference?
Do the French even have equivalents for SFOD-D, Green Berets, the SEALs and all that?
>>28054333
No fuckin' shit. Rangers are SOF-lite. If you want to measure dicks then you should be pitting SEALs vs. SF.

Sup /k/, Lets talk rocket launchers. Specifically the Carl Gustaf, Is it so good as people say? Can i feel a little pride knowing that Swedistan can produce good weapons?
>>28053843
swedistans are producing god tier weapons
carl gustavs are my fav launchers
>>28053843
CG is a recoilless rifle, not a rocket launcher.
And yeah, it's pretty neat lil' thing. The new M4 is a tad smaller and notably lighter than its predecessors, making it easier to carry and use.
some say it's way past its date as an AT-weapon, but I'd say that if a goddamn RPG-7 can still wreck up Abrams, CG definitely can too.
>>28053947
>CG is a recoilless rifle, not a rocket launcher.
Yeah in Swedish the direct translation is grenade launcher, But that did not sound right in english so i said Rocket launcher.
SAAB/Bofors (the creator) spoke very highly of the new CG, Thats why i made this thread, To see what people that might've used one say about it.
So my GF "adopted" a family for Christmas. We got a list of the toys that the kids were hoping for, and one of them wanted a Nerf gun. I told her "I got this one!". Now I'm at the store and have narrowed it down, but I figure y'all could help with the final decision. I'm not sure though if the kid needs more room defense / monster under the bed protection, or more something like to hunt large imaginary dinosaurs or trolls.
Which do I choose?
Option 2. More stopping power, but less rounds.

Glock master-race confirmed
What now, Walther, FN, Sig, CZ, and HK-fags?
What does /k/ think of these guns. Im thinking of getting pic related as my first gun. Its a hipoint 40.
Thoughts?
>>28053258
if thats all you can afford, need a gun that goes bang everytime, lifetime warranty. it may not solve all yo problems but its better than nothing.

Is it stolen valor/disrespectful to wear such patches as a fashion statement?
Yes. They are not symbols of fashion or pride or coolness. They are indicators worn by professionals to let other professionals know who they are.
>>28053236
Patches in and of themselves, no. Patches for real military units, or that are awarded for some sort of act in the field or upon completion of miltary training courses, yes.
If you hiked a very challenging mountain that very few people can hike and got a patch for doing so, would you be upset if an americlap burgermeister drove his car up there and took a #selfie before going to get a patch from the gift shop?
Who is a long slide glock intended for? Someone who shoots in competition? A hunters side arm? I dont understand. Help me understand.
Yes.
Also people who like them.
Longer sight radius and minor increase in muzzle velocity, both good things for competition. That's about the only advantages I can think of..
unlike most glocks, the longslide ones are pure sex
besides, 15 rounds of 10mm combined with glock ease of use is hard to beat
I'll start with the best.

That is a retarded monstrosity of a knife, but i do want one.
But when it comes to practicality, if you are going to carry such a large and heavy folder why not just carry a fixed blade?
>>28053298
Get one. It will not disappoint. Comes ridiculously sharp, is rock steady, and has outstanding ergonomics.
Fixed blades are probably the right choice for really heavy duty shit, but you will either have a sheath hanging down off of you or taking up a ton of real estate on your belt horizontally. That being said, this is more easily concealed and much faster to access than a fixed blade. But let's be honest... this knife just stupidly awesome and isn't really worth the money for its practicality in most situations.
>>28053400
>but you will either have a sheath hanging down off of you or taking up a ton of real estate on your belt horizontally
I prefer carrying ITWB or crossdraw tucked behind the belt so not really a problem for me.
Not that i actually carry a knife for defense, just for general use when inawoods.
I also have a Rajah II i used to carry in my cargo pocket but it is not really worth the extra weight.
Thats why i am skeptical to heavy folders, it was also very uncomfortable to carry in the beltline due to the weight making it flop around all over the place.
I found this cool collection of sniper pics from the Afghan-Soviet war, most of which i never saw before. Thought you guys will enjoy them. Also, Soviet-Afghan war general, maybe?

First time I see a picture of a SVD being used without a scope. I've been to Syria/Rojava this year for 4 months, fighting with YPG. I've seen the Kurds using SVDs without scopes during attacks on daesh infested villages, I thought that was fucking nuts. Seems like it was a thing in the Red Army, too.
>>28053203
...and does anyone know a good movie about that war?
I've seen "Platoon x" or whatever it was called, fucking pathetic, unrealistic and shitty movie. But good to learn something about the russian soul, as it won some awards in Russia.
Silencers vs "Totally not a silencer"
Thought: turn a Pistol length AR upper (8.5" or something) into a full length by adding a silencer or a "very peculiar sized flash hider" that just so happens to be the exact diameter and length of a very common flashlight tube.
Firstly: which would be more cost efficient? Silencers sold as silencers are a rich guy toy, and cost upwards of 1k, but would definitely meet or exceed the 16" barrel requirement. But would the flash hider plus whatever legal hoodoo to get the tax stamp cost less?

Just contact your state rep and tell him to support the Hearing Act.
Sometimes they are called "solvent traps"
What are some upcoming things you're looking forward to?
I'm really excited to see how the HMG Sturmgewehr turns out next year. Thinking of getting a .300blk one, but having a .223 one would be cool too. And a .50 beowulf if that ever becomes a thing.
Also looking forward to the DesertTech MDR, the 7.62 one will be nice to have.
