CG is a recoilless rifle, not a rocket launcher.
And yeah, it's pretty neat lil' thing. The new M4 is a tad smaller and notably lighter than its predecessors, making it easier to carry and use.

some say it's way past its date as an AT-weapon, but I'd say that if a goddamn RPG-7 can still wreck up Abrams, CG definitely can too.
>>
>>28053947
>CG is a recoilless rifle, not a rocket launcher.

Yeah in Swedish the direct translation is grenade launcher, But that did not sound right in english so i said Rocket launcher.

SAAB/Bofors (the creator) spoke very highly of the new CG, Thats why i made this thread, To see what people that might've used one say about it.

The best HEAT round for it can pen more then 500.

Otherwise it goot neet HEDP rounds and can kill anything that does not have armor.
>>
I trained one the original steel Carl G in 2008, loved that thing. I've yet to see the weapon fail, and have only seen one round not fire (faulty primer).

The old ones are heavy though, the fiberglass ones (M2?) are considerably more comfortable to hump around.
>>
>>28053843
Carl G is GOD TIER!

One of the only infantry weapons that really scared the Taliban. Once we established contact if we started shooting them they tended to fuck off really bad.

Sadly I have only shot it 4 times in training and never in a real fight :(

which isn't too much, considering the latest LAW M72 variants can penetrate up to 450mm.

Still, nobody goes against modern armors with mere HE-rounds these days, unless they got no choice.

Well it can kill a T-72A or a T-72M1 from the front while the M72 cant.

Maybe 50/50 the turret but atleast the hull from the front. Good thing is that there are not that many IFV's in the world that got the same base armor as the T-72M1

That would be the m2. The m1 was phased out in a long time ago. The m2 came 1964.

>the fiberglass ones (M2?)
That is the m3.

Its really good and accurate and a real blast to shoot. Basically like a direct fire mortar that front line troops can deploy in seconds. Very efficient and handy when you want to kill people that are in cover and things like that.

Can also be used for smoke, illumination, flechettes etc.

So accurate that a good shot can shoot at a tree at several hundred meters and get an air burst like effect. Not that you need to do that since you can just decide what range you want it to airburst at anyway.

the m3 and the m4 version are also very light. People said that the m3 version are only made to shoot like 50 rounds or so but i shot several hundreds from mine and i never had any problems with it. Then some one said they would explode if you shot them to much and we had to change to the old m2's, that sucked. It doesn't even have a carrying handle.

Pic related, its the m2.
>>
One time i shot and loaded 48 rounds (50/50) in a day.

Was pretty fun but i got pretty tired.
There was some rule about not shooting that much because it could fuck you up but we had a lot of ammo left so...

You know Sweden has a history of really interesting and significant advancements to weapon technology? The Ljungman was the first, or one of the first guns to use direct impingement. The 6.5x55 Swedish is a great cartridge, and when I say great, I really mean great.
SAAB has a history of creating great jets, perhaps not the Gripen, but A32 Lansen, Draken and Viggen were all impressive planes.
The M/45 smg is a great weapon too.
Bofors makes good artillery. The list goes on.

You can say a lot about the Swedish armed forces and the state of the country, but for its size it has a very impressive track record when it comes to the inventing and producing stuff. So for God's sake, have some pride Sven

"The J 29 was one of the first production fighters with a swept-back wing. It was fast and agile, and set the world speed record on a 500 km (310 mi) closed circuit in 1954[6] at 977 km/h (607.05 mph). Two S 29C (reconnaissance variant) additionally set an international speed record of 900.6 km/h (559.4 mph) over a 1,000 km (620 mi) closed-circuit course in 1955."

The regulations in Sweden where 6 per day and 18 per week IIRC. Then they got removed.

We did hearing test regularly to see if our hearing got worse. The best thing is that even though i fired several hundred rounds over the course of a few years i still didn't suffer any hearing loss at all. In fact my hearing was better then the average civilian 5 years younger then me.

Pic related is pretty good,

Do you think the penetration comes from its kinetic energy?
>>
>>28064160
not entirely because of the velocity but it helps, why else would they build high velocity cannons (mostly around the same as rifles for HE rounds) that fire high explosive rounds.
Impact energy is partly related but separate, it has mostly to do with weight.
>>
>>28054890
>Those fake bullet holes
>>
>>28064230
uhm, no.
just no.

The velocity of an explosion is a LOT faster than the fastest speed of a projectile fired from a cannon. This is what forms the penetrator. The speed of the round itself is nowhere near as important as the diameter of the HEAT round.

The first cannons to fire HEAT were low velocity cannons.

High velocity cannons are useful because you can fire SABOT.
