Other than bong and common wealth forces using suit scopes on inch pattern FALs, did any other nation field optics on their FALs?
Trying to decide between getting an AR, FAL, or PTR, but I hate rails.
>>28040729
>I hate rails.
FAL has SUIT; PTR has Hensodlt claw mount. AR can use carry-handle mount. Pick whichever you like best; for the FAL and PTR you'll pay about as much for the optic as you will for the rifle.
>>28040729
I remember seeing some SUITs on Rhodie rifles.
Also the mount sucks. The rivets on mine keep coming loose.
>>28040729
So you want a battle rifle?
>AR
I want that AR aftermarket senpai.
>FAL
Rhodesians never die.
>PTR
To hell with reloading.
Pick one. Alternatively...
>SCAR
I don't care if it's overpriced. I'm rich, peasants.
>M14
5.56 is a passing fad. You'll see. You'll all see.
>Galil
Oy vey, how horribly anti-semitic.
>Valmet M78
I for one support socialized healthcare, eh.
>VEPR
CYKA.
What exactly is the appeal of the ak in recent times?
With prices of ak's reaching all time highs of $600+ for the cheapest lowest quality variants, a similar priced ar can be bought with much higher quality and workmanship put into it. Another factor to consider is the availability of ammunition, which the ak market relies heavily on surplus and new production out of country. Meanwhile the ar platform has 223/556 produced right here in the states and almost any and all sporting goods store stock it.
>TL;DR why do people buy slavshit and defend an inferior product while in the same price range of other options?
>>28040638
>buying Amerishit
>not buying CZ 858
Fucking pleb.
>>28040638
>>28040638
>why do people buy slavshit and defend an inferior product while in the same price range of other options?
because i like slavshit.
>>28040638
Because not everyone has 1337 operator fantasies stemming from a superiority complex, and just want to enjoy some funs for the sake of fun
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>28040601
40 Billion people have already died! You've got to send them back!
>>28040601
there s absolutely nothing wrong with that, especially for people oprating in an arid environment.
and its removable if somone wants to refinish it
you're being an insufferable autist.
If you got the money to buy and sbr an mp5 then you can tacticool it out however you want
Just picked this up over the weekend. Did I do good and should I restore it?
>>28040536
How much?
And maybe if it is a good shooter/you really want to/have money to blow/want experience restoring.
>>28040547
200.
The only reason I'd want to restore it is for ascetics I haven't gotten to shoot it yet because .303 is hard to find around me but it seems to operate smoothly
>>28040565
I bought mine in original condition for 300, you got jipped breh.
Does turning a rotten Thanksgiving Turkey into paste with a model 12 count?
What is the most important quality for a soldier to have and why is it height?
Yep, being a nice big target is always an advantage. Forget being able to take cover, the bullets will turn around and hit their manlet shooters when you tell them you're height.
>>28040336
>What is the most important quality for a soldier to have
endurance
>and why is it height
Height admittedly plays into endurance (longer steps, fewer steps), but is not the most important quality.
TOTALLY NOT A BAIT THREAD OR ANYTHING JUST POST LIKE YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR LIVES
All we are told about the Bundeswehr by the news here in Germany is about all the shit that is missing, broken, or just general fuck ups that happen. You NEVER hear anything positive about our guys so what`s your opinion of kit, training, actual proficiency...general Bundeswehr thread I guess.
unrelated question, I was drafted but declined the service
I am now thinking of doing it afterall, like voluntary service for a year
Good idea or nah?
>>28040328
don't you have something better to do for 1 year?
>>28040328
Wenn du keine echte Arbeit finden kannst, dann mach das. Wie alt, Qualifikationen?
If you can't get a real job, do it. How old, any qualifications?
Hey everyone! Been a while.
I just wanted to give you an update on the 7.62x54R SMLE conversion I did a while back. I have an interesting observation, and thought I would share it:
Barrel harmonics. I'm getting EXACTLY the same harmonic problem that a Mosin Nagant gets (hence the corked barrels and shims) in the SMLE barrel. I thought it was a bullet size issue at first, but slugging the bore ruled that out, and... get this... corking the barrel of the SMLE fixed it!
There's just something inherent in 7.62x54R that makes relatively thin barrels more prone to harmonics issues than other cartridges, even ones that are similar, like .303 British.
Any ideas why?
Don't know why, but that's probably the motive why russia passed to a fatter barrel with the svdm
>>28040430
Possibly. I had some passing idea that it has to do with being a rimmed cartridge, but I can't think of any other rimmed cartridges that exhibit this same behavior.
Then again, probably very few people have converted an SMLE, and of those even fewer would be likely to notice the issue, so it may be that I've discovered something entirely new to the firearms world.
>>28040289
I know nothing about conversions. What do you have to alter and how do you go about it?
have any of you played the rainbow 6 siege beta ?
what do you guys think of the gun play ?
ive been playing on pc and every one is working as a team quite effectively
should i buy it full prise ?
>>28039884
It's a garbage Cod clone and a shadow of wat R6 used to be.
>>28039884
I played the closed beta and I'm going to try the open beta with more of the spetsnaz guys probably tomorrow. Its fun, definitely not a cod clone. When your assault team works together and has a massive dynamic entry its awesome.
>>28039923
yeah we coordinated a 5 way attack through the windows and took out their whole team in under 10 seconds. when your team knows what they are
doing it can be awesome.
i do think the damage model could be tweaked or have a realism mode, so its like 2-3 shots to take a bad guy down.
Hello America,
27 year old ex-NEET from Europe here. I just inherited a shitload of money. As I love weapons and greasy food, I decided to move to the US. I'll buy a nice house and enjoy your culture.
What state would you recommend for me? Which one has the best weapon laws? I want to collect them. All kinds. Because I fucking love shooting and shit.
The only us state with great weapon laws i can think of is Texas. But I don't want to live there, I'd prefer something a bit more cold and with big ass forests. The kind of forest I heard a lot about, the ones you can get lost in without ever being found.
So, what can you recommend?
Alaska
What happened to that cat!?
>>28039784
How are their weapon laws? Are you allowed to own everything from .22 to small artillery?
That's actually an idea, I'm going to read into Alaska. Is there something in between Texas and Alaska when it comes to the climate? Something in the North? With good weapon laws ofc
I think it's about to have a surgery done or something. I just noticed there's a 9gag stamp, sorry for that. My gf sent it to me. I'm moving to the US alone anyways.
>>28039769
Alaska, did that cat died?
What's the max distance .22lr can fly accurately?
I don't mean deliver enough power to kill anything, I mean a distance it can hit at a man-sized paper target.
>>28039658
About three fiddy
>>28039661
I'm asking seriously. I'm a noob that never shot anything apart from .22lr but I have a 200m range nearby that I would like to start shooting at.
No idea if buying .22lr rifle makes sense, or do I need to buy something in, say, .308 for that distance.
>>28039706
For 200m you could do a .223/5.56 ez
.308 would work obviously, but if you learnt on a smaller calibre then moved up would probs be better imo.
Was George Washington the greatest general of all time? He somehow got a bunch of loosely connected colonial militias to defeat the most powerful empire on the planet.
>>28039656
No. He is probably the greatest political leader of the last 2000 years though.
>>28039656
There were several better but none of them managed to hold their forces together after as many defeats as he suffered.
>>28039656
He was a political figurehead to rally behind, but his military career was teetering on the edge of fucking disaster.
Friendly reminder, he's the person who set off the french and indian war when her tried to take fort sumter in 1755.
also
>hur durr, retreating from new york, better burn it down
He would not have won the Revoltuionary war if the birts were actually fucking organised at bunker hill and New York
Armor Thread.
Recommend me a new plate carrier. I plan to put ceramic level IV SAPIs in it. I understand that will be expensive. What's the consensus on the top carriers?
>Pic related, the armor I babysat a few years for a Muhreen while he was deployed. Now he took them back and I feel unprotected.
>>28039564
Ar500 brand has level 4 ceramics. And 3+ ar500s are good.
LBT or shellback banshees are typically suggested but I went with a Russian 6b45 because it was like 170 for a PC with soft armor. Its like 200-250 for the plates so I'll pick those up soon as well.
>>28039603
>ar500 me-me
>endless debate verifying ceramic is better
> not AR-680
>>28039564
the pig brigandine is cheap and velcroey
So I bought a $65 pistol at the gas station last night. It's in rough shape should I even bother fixing it?
>>28039215
Did that guy end up undercutting you in an offer or are you the other guy?
>>28039215
Why are you buying weapons at gas stations? Do you live in Ferguson or some shit?
Also, you should fix it up and tacticool the fuck out of it.
>>28039215
What's it chambered in?
Do you wear these?
>>28039111
no you tow them behind your boat
of course you wear them. you, probably on your head.
I do. They're incredibly comfy and stylish.
>>28039111
Gavlan wear, Gavlan share
Who you?
You want pants?
