Hey /K/eks, I'm looking at a cheap reliable pistol, I have narrowed it down to the p-64 or the "real" makarov, Help a brother out, which is better? Pros, cons, what do you use?

I have a P-64, I'm really happy with it. The only downside that I see is because I have Slav hands.

I with the grip was a little longer on The P-64 because the 9x18 is a "snappy round" and even with a firm grip it wants to buck because the last 2 fingers on my off hand rest near or under the mag.

I don't regret the purchase and I love it, put 200+ rounds through it last weekend and not a single jam.

Conventional wisdom seems to be to shoot a deer in the heart, but I have personally seen a deer shot through the heart run into the bushes. We managed to find him, but what if we hadn't been so lucky? I recently learned that there is another way to kill a deer, the high shoulder shot. The idea is to shatter the deer's shoulder blades and damage the spine so as to drop the deer right where he's standing. Does anyone have any experience in the matter?

>>
>>28043245
I like the high shoulder shot myself. If you do it right, with a powerful gun, you can hit the spine and drop it. It'll die in a minute or so because it should hit the lungs and shock the heart.

My favorite and least favorite is the same. From chest to asshole. They drop and die instantly but busted guts and two fucked up legs if you get good penetration and angle it is a bitch to clean
>>
>>28043245
Honestly, if it's a doe or you don't care about mounting it, just shoot it in the head. Otherwise I always shoot mine in the neck area so they're easier to field dress

Was thinking about getting a revolver, what does /k/ think about the semi/revolver debate
60 posts and 10 images submitted.
>>
>>28042355
It's not a debate. Semis are more practical.
>>
>>28042355
My friend brought up a good point. If it doesn't shoot you simply pull the trigger again instead of having to clear a malfunction. Also a bit lighter.

That being said, I would still take a semi-auto for a ccw any day.
>>
Revolvers are superior unless you need to fire more than six shots in rapid succession. Most importantly they just werk.

At the time of the movie the .44 Magnum was the most powerful, commercially available handgun round. Handloaders had been experimenting and had created more powerful and wildcats but they weren't commercially available. Now those some of those handloads and wildcats are commercially available.
>>
>>28042211
isn't it "canon" he shot 44 specials out of them for uncontrollably or was it SPECIAL as in his own special magnum rounds that killed 70s fools?

Newfag, here,

I want to buy a bow as a gift for a buddy of mine and I need some advice.

I'd like it to be a 100lb bow, I know, I know, that's fucked up, thanks for your concern, but I am dead determined to be a 100lb bow, since I'd like it to be a surprise and neither me nor him understand too much about bows and their important properties, I thought I could ask you guys (inb4 buying that not being a good idea - I know, yet I am going to do it, anyway).

I want it to be an old-fashioned, preferably recursive, bow, so no pulleys, no recoil compensators and no targeting scopes or whatever. So, what should I look for when buying a bow and what makes a good bow? Apart from its strength, there are probably a ton of other stuff like arc radius, curvature, etc.

And if you guys know a place that sells decent bows at a reasonable price (eurofag, here) id appreciate it

>>
>>28042181
Dude nobody needs a 100lb bow to start off with. 50lb at the most. Get him a nice longbow or maybe a recurve horsebow. Youtube is your friend.
>>
>>28042208
Thank you for the input, but like I said - I am dead centered on a 100lb, despite it not being practical or whatever - my funeral.

I'd like to see if I can get experience advice from people, who understand the practice of shoting with a bow, so I can choose the most suitable one, as I've heard a person should choose a bow that is comfortable to him, by watching for certain aspects.
>>
>>28042181
>despite it not being practical or whatever - my funeral.
>100 lbs bow
so you WANT to hurt yourselves and fuck up your shoulders and back? This isn't a probable, this is a guarantee.
And not only will you guys laugh about it
>looool, wow man, this bow is tough, can't even pull it, LOL, you absolute madman!
But you either:
-hurt yourselves trying to pull that thing because unless the two of you guys row or know how to utilize your core into pulling a 100lb bow, you WILL hurt yourselves.

-Have 30 minutes of fun and never touch that 100lbs bow ever again because you will not be able to do anything with it.

So I guess it is your funeral, considering a 100lbs bow ain't cheap either.

Go straight to OCS. There's no reason for you to enlist.
>>
>>28042161
Were you talking to an enlisted recruiting officer or an OSO (officer selection officer)? I'm currently looking at the PLC program which is OCS broken into 2 sessions over the summers between college. In my opinion I think the PLC program is better as you could possibly get screwed over with enlisted reserve and contracts.
>>
>>28042161
DO NOT GO ENLISTED. They have a delayed entry program you can do. They pay for your college and you sign a contract that as soon as you finish you go into ocs (officer candidate school)
