Hello gents.

Assuming one could store ammo properly, how long can it last? 50 years? 200 years?

And, the same with a gun. Stored properly, in theory, how long can it work properly?

Thanks.

If you put them in a sealed barrel of cosmoline they'll probably last until the sun explodes. Then some distant planet in a far solar system will get free guns in the mysterious cylinders raining from the sky.
>>
3-3.5 years
>>
A gun, if properly maintained, could last until the parts wear out. It could last literally forever if it's just being stored. Anything with wood might need that replaced after a couple hundred years though.

Ammo, I'm less sure about. Assuming it's sealed from the outside environment, and there's no moisture, it might last forever. I'm not sure how chemically stable modern powder is.

Why don't we join the 21st century and adopt a bullpup assault rifle?

Show the Pentagon and Congress some combination of metrics that proves that a bullpup rifle far outclasses today's service rifle and that the replacement program is worth the expense.

how many replacement program prospects have they had just for shits and giggles? and how many times have they tried to get rid of the M9 because it isn't .45

>>
>>28060947
As walking tanks/line infantry, stupid as they're not much more infallible as regular infantry against heavy weapons

As CQB specialized shock troops, more viable as close quarters allow greater use of its enhanced strength, speed and defenses to quickly overwhelm infantry in a situation where heavy weapons are impractical to use

What was wrong with German tank design of WWII?

Alright /k/, it's 2040 and you've passed the selection to go from a tier 1 unit to a tier 0. You've been offered the option to modify your body with 3 unique features that will enhance your operational capabilities. Keep it "realistic".

My picks:
>bionic eye with infrared and gen 3+ nightvision
>all joints remade with titanium for zero risk of injury
>reinforced spine

Alright /k/ommandos, let's talk about the Armscor/RIA M5 12 gauge shotgun.
Do any of you have experience with it, and if so what are your thoughts on it?
Is the gun reliable in the long term?
Is the parkerized or nickel finish more durable and resistant to the elements?
What are the gun's weak points?
Does the gun eat any ammo or does it prefer specific types/brands?
What are some good aftermarket accessories?
Is it easy to clean, fix, and replace its parts?
I know some of these questions might seem stupid but I want to be thorough.

if you want aftermarket at all buy a 500/870 or 500/870 knockoff

if you want to buy a beater and leave it stock rias good for that
>>
>>28060585
literally all of your questions have been answered in the multitude of reviews on that very gun.
They're good guns. The action is incredibly smooth. They're pretty much made of all steel, so they're durable as fuck, but also pretty heavy. They're basically a copy of the high standard flite king.
>>
>>28060596
I don't need aftermarket stuff, I just wanted to know what was available. Just incase I come by some extra money.

I'm considering getting a PTR91. Anything I should know before buying one?

The one my friend has he had to send back because it wouldn't cycle properly. Only complaint he has with it now is that it hates military surplus ammo.

I'm a Britfag who's going on holiday to Prague soon and something they offer is the opportunity to go to a shooting range and fire various weapons that you would never legally see over here.

Having absolutely no experience with firearms I thought I would ask if /k/ could possibly recommend which option out of these is the most appealing:

do you seriously only get like 10 shots in each gun? what the fuck? You're going to be switching guns ever like 1-2 minutes.

top 10 guns & 80 shots probably.
or if you can spend the extra cash, maybe 13 guns & 110 shots.

All of them seem incredibly overpriced though, especially considering nothing is even automatic.
>>
>>28060575
Auto weapons are illegal there plus ammunition is expensive as fuck hence the prices. They can charge that kind of cash because it's mainly stag parties who go along.

I wanted to stay under £100 so I'll probably go for the 10 guns 80 shots and my girlfriend can just do the girls' package.

I think they give you a brief on each gun before you fire it etc. so I think the whole thing lasts a few hours but it's probably my only chance to fire a gun in the near future.
>>
>>28060590
well come over to murrica and you can shoot a hell of a lot more for your money. But the 10 guns 80 shots seems like a decent overall package if you wanted to choose one of them. I'm curious if the dragunov is actually a dragunov, and not just a PSL.

Military subs can only use a small part of the ocean's depth, usually within 2,000 feet/610m. Proposals for ultra-deep submarines have existed for decades, but have not been funded. How would a sub with a 35K/10,700m range change warfare?
104 posts and 20 images submitted.
>>
What exactly would it do at that depth? Would it be able to communicate? Would they need to develop new weapons (SLBM etc) that can handle that depth of the weapons we have now work?

Where in the world would you be able to operate at that depth?
>>
>>28060472
depth charges cannot reach them

a depth sta missile can be launched at any depth, size granted
>>
>>28060472

buy it.
