Hey /k/
I want to get a job and get ahold of some funs by taking courses and stuff.
Any idea what my first fun should be? I was thinking about getting a handgun and then a rifle. I live in Commiefornia so I'll need advice that pertains to that state.
Also, first time shooting tips would be appreciated too. I know you're not supposed to hold your breath like in Cawadooty and you're supposed to steady your breathing and exhale as you shoot.
Thank you /k/omrades
I think a gun first-timer should probably start off with a rifle, they are significantly easier to get a feel for. And I know this may sound retarded to you, but maybe get a .22 so you can start off not having to worry so much about the kickback.
>>28063959
So you want to be a mercenary.
>>28064040
I've heard lots of advice saying that .22's are the way to go for plinking and first time shooting.
I assumed that handguns would be easiest to learn first, but I'm no professional.
If anything though, I'd like to get a feel for both at the beginning.
>>28064056
If I joined Diamond Dogs, I probably wouldn't be in the Combat Unit ;_;7
Most likely Intel or Support.
How much .22 is too much .22?
Is it ideal to stockpile, for future/shtf/scare scenarios?
>>28063951
I have a 50cal and a 30cal can full of .22 like in OPs pic. I still buy it at a reasonable price when I see it. I don't see a "too much ammo" limit.
>>28063951
is it safe to store rimfire cartridges like this?
>>28063951
22lr is about the last thing I'd ever stockpile 10's of thousands of rounds with intentions of shooting it a decade or two later.
Keep ahead on the numbers enough to ride out an ammo panic, sure, but that's about it. I wouldn't go an inch beyond that with rimfire crap primers and poorly sealed cartridges.
Centerfire ammo on the other hand, I'd trust that a lot more. And plenty of that comes in spam cans or is sealed at the primer/bullet anyway vs any outside air.
Because hunting would be an important source of food in a hypothetical SHTF scenario, a SHTF rifle should be accurate and powerful enough to hunt and fight with. That rules out many "black guns"--.223 may lack the power for large game, especially at long distances--and assault rifles, which are not very accurate, but it includes almost any good hunting rifle. Those worried about capacity can buy aftermarket extended magazines.
>>28063950
>.223 can't kill large game
>"assault rifles" aren't accurate
Go back to /b/, nigger. Hogs and deer are easily taken with .223.
>>28063950
you don't need a fudd rifle, you need an idiot rifle for idiots like yourself.
>>28064001
This.
Buy a mosin, OP.

I think B.L.A.C.K. pulled it off pretty well.

Hey. I'm also posting this in /tg and /sci.
I'm working on a crafting system for a tabletop rpg akin to the Witcher. I'd like to keep as scientifically accurate as possible but when it came time to start figuring out explosives I hit a roadblock.
I was wondering if anyone could explain explosives like frag grenades, c4, explosive gels (like batman's in the arkham games) in a simple way for someone who took highschool science about a half a decade ago.
The key things I'm looking to are:
chemical/catalyst + catalyst/chemical = how much explosive force
Sorry for my lack of understanding, but that's why I'm here. To learn.
>>28063864
good luck bruh, nobody here knows shit about explosives
nobody here knows shit about anything other than firearms
most people here don't even know shit about those
>>28063864
Nice try Mr.BATFE.
Gun powder + Elven Dust = 12.468tons of TNT equivalent force.
does anybody have a gif or webm showing how the internals of a lever action shotgun works
(like the winchester 1887)
or any other guns but im looking for that one
nobody?
>>28063836
you're lucky i like these
>>28063882
very lucky
In your opinion what is the best SKS variant?
Never owned one, there is a great deal near me on a yugo SKS, never issued, comes with lots of extras for $400
I've heard the yugo ones are pretty low on the SKS totem pole. Is that because of how common they are or are they just shitty?
>>28063771
they're not as desirable as russian ones in terms of collecting. otherwise the yugos are good to go as far as i know
I'm not an expert but the main reason Yugo's aren't as popular is because they don't have chrome lined bores. Only a problem if you're shooting a lot of corrosive ammo.
>>28063771
bump
i just enlisted, was wondering if anyone had worked directly with HUMINTS and could give me a little more information as to what they do. i've obviously researched on my own and have a little more than basic understanding as to what the duties are.
Also, how bad are the winters at Fort Sill?
>>28063324
God I hope your recruiter didn't lie to you.
You will sit in a TOC reading debriefs and countless documents, look through hundreds of pictures and decide what is useful and what is trash.
You might get to actually talk with people on occasion to get some intel yourself, but it is seldom.
Then you will tell a shitload of officers what you think of the intel you looked at. Have fun.
What enticed me the most was the TSSC and learning a second language. I figured that it would have is drawbacks. lol
>>28053258
They're garbage, only thing they have going for them is their warranty

you have 10 seconds to explain why you're sitting inside on your computer and not outside, innawoods getting fresh air and adventuring
>>28063029
lol joks on u im on my fone XD
I'm at work.
>>28063029
Because I'm at work and I'm not lucky enough to have a job as a park ranger or doing anything outside for a similar salary to what I'm making now.
What's the lewdest thing you've done with a weapon?
I once held hands with one
>>28063000
I actually sleep with my rifles
I don't mean next to the bed either. I literally cuddle (I guess you could call it that) my rifle as I fall asleep
>some habits you pick up from being a grunt just never leave you
>also, no gf so I don't hear any bitching about sleeping with my rifle
>>28063000
That is disgusting and you wasted trips on this post. Pfft holding hands what are you bringing that weird shit onto this Swedish throat singing forum for?
>>28063279
Thank you for your service.
Ok /k/, I have a pest problem and I need your help. What would be the best gun to remove human? I need to know soon, they're starting to get more aggressive. That's me in the pic.
Picture this

Why is the SKS considered the best shtf rifle?
>>28062838
durability
simplicity
accuracy
readily available ammunition
low capacity is a major negative aspect though
Relatively cheap semi auto. They were cheaper a few years ago which made them the ideal shtf rifle to stock up on. They are reliable, shoot a common cartridge and will take a beating. The prices keep going up on them so the grab sks go innawoods meme is becoming no longer relavent.
>>28062865
also ammo in stripper clips is lighter and takes less space than in magazines
I'm thinking about getting a Ruger Single Ten revolver. Should I? Anyone have any experience with these things? I'm worried these might be fragile considering it's 10 shots instead of 6. I've handled one before, and when I pulled the hammer back it sounds like 5 different clicks going on in the internals, and I'm just worried it might not be a long lasting weapon. What do you guys think?
>>28062819
>22LR
Into the trash it goes
>>28062834
I have 9mm's and .45's, I just want a .22lr that can shoot reliably without FTF and FTE.
>>28062834
Mad fudd who can't sell his overpriced bricks on armslist detected
Going to my first gun show this weekend. From what I hear, everything is overpriced and it's full of faggots. Is this an accurate description?
There are some good deals to be had. Usually right when it opens and just before it closes.
If a firearm is well priced, don't expect it to still be there after checking out the other tables. But if you buy the first find, then you might not have enough for another gem later on.
inb4 beef jerky
For the most part yes.
