Do the Israeli gas masks actually work?
>>29180606
They work just fine when they are fitted and issued, but I wouldn't bet my life on one I just bought off Ebay after it's been God knows where for God knows how long doing God knows what.
On that note, all Canadian gas masks on the open market are either defective or stolen.
Yes...provided you get a new filter and the proper size they can make an airtight seal.
Keep in mind most are used...but cheap. So quality is definitely an issue.

Is a mosin nagant worth making totally tacticool? In practice if I got an after market stock, did the floating barrel thing, recrowned and threaded the barrel, got a muzzle device, bent the bolt, got one of those optic mounts, and a decent optic would it be a semi decent dmr weapon? I want to shoot the cheap ammo accurately. Are there similar solutions?
I genuinely want opinions on this before I spend the money. I'm not too sure why you think this is bait. If I'm some sort of moron at least tell me why.

So...numerous options available to you for merely $50 or so above the going price for a nugget?
Is there any reason whatsoever to buy a mossberg 500 over a Maverick 88? Both are available as field models at my flgs and I was wondering if anyone has any strong opinions on either
>>29179311
It's cheaper and the safety is in a different place. That's the only difference.
There is zero reason at all.
>>29179311
Maverick 88 is literally an economy version of the Mossberg 500, with some design changes and non-interchangeable parts to make it cheaper. No real differences in terms of reliability or handling, although the different safety location can take getting used to, and the finish on the Maverick is cheaper than the 500 IIRC.

What are /k/'s thoughts on the M14 EBR? I know you have an opinion on it.
You always do.
>>29178024
Aesthetically, it's eye cancer.
>>29178024
Heavy as fuck even for a semi auto .308. That plus annoying rocker mags and weird safety placement make it kind of a pain.
It weighs 50 lbs and is ridiculously expensive for an average battle rifle.
1) Get the m1 abrams platform.
2) Remove the old turret with one cannon.
3) Create a new turret with two GAU 8 from the A10.
Voila, no ground infantry can get close to it.
>Five seconds of ammunition
>>29177893
>Take an M1
>make it shit compared to a T-55
thanks, anon
>>29177893
no, no no no.
only one gau-8, in the position where the main gun was.
on the sides of the turret, put two TOW launchers like a bradley has.
use the ammo compartment for the main gun to hold ammo for the gau.
have the brass from the gau eject out the ass of the thing, over the engine exhaust or off the sides of the turret.
I'm not sure this is entirely weapons related but I see more threads on helicopters here than anywhere else.
I was reading this article ( http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/06/drone-flying-over-forest-fire-diverts-planes-costs-us-forest-service-10k/ ) and was wondering exactly why the firefighters couldn't fly in if theres a drone in the air? Are they afraid it would get caught in their rotors or something? Please help!
Because they don't want someones fucking gopro sucked into an engine

Don't birds get sucked in all the time though? Shouldn't hurt it right?

Within the next month, I'll be in the market for a new gun, and I'm thinking pretty hard about getting an AK-pattern rifle. The two that I'm most interested in are the CA RAS47, which I can pick up at my local Cabela's for around $650, and the CA RH10, which I can find online for about $800.
I really like the aesthetic of the RH10 with the integrated front sight and gas port, but I also like the classic-AK look of the RAS.
What do you guys know about either, and should I maybe consider AKs from elsewhere?
Thanks.
>>29176666
Depends on a lot of things. Is this just a fun gun, or will it be your go-to autoloading rifle?
>>29176666
If I was in the market for a beater AK, the newest wasrs from century are supposedly a big step up from the older guns. I'd steer clear of the RAS series guns, personally. If you want something more than a beater, try to find an arsenal SGL used in good shape somewhere.
>>29176666
>but I also like the classic-AK look of the RAS.
What should i learn or do or learn to do to not be a complete and total fuck up
>>29176556
I work at my LGS. Don't be an asshole and don't be a retard. Don't bullshit customers. Admit when you don't know something. Learn to love cleaning glass. Thats pretty much it.
>>29176556
>I want to work retail until I hate the thing I love.
^you.
>>29176588
Not OP, I feel like I would be pretty decent at working at a GS but I know jack shit about AR's and parts and kits so that would really hold me back in that regard.
