So incredibly sad I missed it... even disregarding the potentially bad weather, I think I needed to spend the weekend back home tending to all sorts of personal matters.
Anyways... just a reminder that I am bringing the Barrett M107A1 with the QDL suppressor. Ammo is $5 a round for the gun. I have just over 18K in this piece, so I have to protect it with ammo that I trust, and has been in my possession.
I'm also bringing the Barrett MRAD in .338lm with the AAC TiTan-QD suppressor. Ammo for that (actually costs significantly more than the .50) will be $3/rd, and I absolutely positively have to keep the brass.
The REPR with the YHM Phantom suppressor is chambered in .308win. Bring your own factory-new, brass-cased ammo for it. It will shit out 147/150gr stuff, so I advise bringing 165-180gr bullets.
Apart from that, I'll bring my 5.7x28mm pen gun. I'll bring ammo at no cost for that.
Lastly, I might bring some other garden-variety Title I guns with suppressors on them.

ISF have captured another town from ISIL recently. Al-Mukhtar was seized on the 29th in the morning as ISF forces are reportedly amassing for the final phase of the assault on Fallujah.
In addition to that, KRG elements have launched an offensive on the Nineveh plains to the east of Mosul. This offensive is aimed at taking the remaining villages to the east of the ISIL held city. As of now, YPG positions are only 25km from the city of Mosul, but with the offensive, they could come within a stonethrow of the city.

As for Shiite or Iranian involvement in the Fallujah offensive, it appears that they will not be allowed to enter the city itself, for fear that sectarian violence occurs. Instead Sunni majority militias and tribes will lead the assault into the city.
While it is a smart move by the Iraqi's, Im curious as to how much fighting experience the Sunni militias and tribals have considering that most of the Iraqi militias that i've seen fighting ISIL have been Shiite.
Also, just in. YPG have also launched an offensive on ISIL positions in the Kirkuk province in addition to that in Erbil that seeks to advance on Mosul. Will provide more info as the situation develops

Hey, /k/, I never see much discussion on competitive shooting here, but was looking for suggestions on a 3 gun setup, specifically for heavy metal (because im a poorfag college student and already have a mossberg 500).
For those who may not know, requirements are:
>7,62 NATO rifle
>.45 single stack handgun
>pump action 12 gauge shotgun
Ive already got the shotgun, and i was thinking about getting a cheap, plain RIA 1911 for my handgun (i am a lefty though so if anyone has a better suggestion it's welcome).
My problem is with the rifle. I have no clue what to get thats going to be cheap but not a piece of shit. I really like the look of FALs and PTR 91s, and i think century makes a cheap, similar gun, but i dont know about quality. Im decently /fit/ so weight isnt an issue, it seems many people think its a good idea to spend extra money for less weight but Id rather keep the money.
Also general 3 gun discussion as im (obviously) very unfamiliar with the whole thing. I do IDPA so at least i know the basics of competitive shooting.

They aren't pretty but you can pick up a DPMS LR-308 AP4 for ~$750. Reasonably lightweight for a 7.62 semi-auto and you have a pretty sizable aftermarket behind it if you decide to upgrade components.

I've done a shameful thing, /k/! I went to take a family picture with some family members I haven't seen in a while (been busy growing the human family the last few years, little girl's almost 2 now), and I found some of a gun's second greatest enemy: RUST.
I need some storage tips; how do I keep rust off of my distressingly infrequently used guns. I guess the room it's in is more humid than I thought.
I've recharged the desiccant in the Stack-On wireless dehumidifier every now and then, which is evidently insufficient. I had it sitting in the bottom of the safe, and it went a long time between recharges. I moved it higher in the safe, and it needed recharging 2 days later. Do I need more? Do I need something electrical?

Well, looks like oil and a greeny is a bad combination. Google says rust on bluing is best removed dry, and apparently this was the worst thing to do.

Get a jar of DampRid and put it in the bottom of your safe. Try running a weatherproofing strip along the door. If you have guns that you rarely shoot put cosmoline on them and use an easier to clean rust preventative on your more frequently used firearms.
