War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines. War, and its consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID tagged soldiers carry ID tagged weapons, use ID tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control. War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control. All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield, controls history. War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control, war becomes routine.

What are some good /k/ related books?
Blood Meridian: Or, the Evening Redness in the West
one of the better American books that's been written
Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger. In fact, anything by him.
He was a german soldier in WW1 and Storm of Steel is his recollection of his time in the trenches. Great stuff.
Hey /k/, this isn't completely weapons related but what are some good binoculars that you have had expereience with? Preferably sturdy, affordable and with Rangefinder + Relative compass
Extra points if good zoom
>inb4
yeah I know being a spotter is gay but someone's gotta do it
Pic unrelated
Doesn't Leupold make good optics? Might want to give them a look.
>>30156938
I'll be sure to check
Any models in particular?
>>30156978
Sorry bud wish I knew to be honest. Keep in mind though that you get what you pay for.
What's the best way to carry a sidearm when you are nude or naked (there is a difference)?
I walk around my house naked and I want a good way to carry. Right now I just wear my gunbelt and holster, but of my three holsters, my best one is an IWB.
Does anyone fanny pack carry? Are there more options that I don't know about?
I've considered carrying my rifle with the strap.
>inb4 I don't have a leather seat
Also, when I walk around with my dick out I call it open carry.
In your hand or jockstrap
Are you planning on fighting your way through Shanghai like Kane and Lynch or something?

>there more options that I don't know about
Keister it.
Why can't the United States come up with something better than the upgrade for the Abrams tank? Other parts of the world coming up with cooler tanks.
How about we come up with some alternatives that would actually be cooler?
the last couple replacement programs have gotten canceled so maybe they are worried
Though the cancellation was mostly a good thing since they were founded on retarded ideas like "all 20 ton vehicles"
>>30156823
Your picture is not a real tank.
>>30156823
Why fix what works.
Sure russia came up with a cardboard on bmp but there's like 5 of them made and 4 of these are out of order due to maintenance problems
I live in a real house made of cinder blocks.
Should i be worried about over penetrating and killing my neighbors?
Their house is also cinder blocks
>>30156703
isn't this why shotguns are used ?
>>30156703
Do you live in Africa? Who the fuck builds houses out if cinderblocks?
>>30156731
I think shotguns are used in american homes because the walls are thin
>>30156734
90% of the people in my country do
New m1 garand owner here. I bought some .30-06 ammo called ".30-06 SPRG". The m1 will still shoot it, right? Winchester is the brand btw
>>30156678
if its not m2 ball dont shoot it
>>30156678
Its the right caliber, but a lot if commercial loads are pretty hot, so they can damage your oprod over time. Twenty rounds probably won't hurt it, but do your research as to what ammo is m1 safe before extended periods of shooting
How do i avoid the Garand Finger?

Which branch are you enlisting/enlisted/considering?
http://strawpoll.me/4671253
Ask questions, answer questions, bitch about Air Force recruiters. Just keep it contained to this general.
I was thinking of enlisting after college but don't want to go infantry(pog life is best life), and was planing on going into something that has job potential when I get out like drones or something. Is there any other fields that have that kind of potential?
Last thread, there were a couple people talking about how "if you're drawn towards the military, it won't go away". Since then, I've been wondering if that goes for everybody who feels that way.
I am everything this board and these threads hate: I have a liberal political ideology, I wholeheartedly believe that homosexuals should be allowed to serve in the military, I am an atheist and I don't give two shits about the "holy land" Israel and think we'd be better off letting the entire Middle East kill themselves off, etc.
Despite all of that, I feel drawn to the military. Maybe it's wanting to make something of myself, learn discipline, and more, but how far are differences accepted?

You already went to college man. Go infrantry.

What's worth building from a parts kit edition
Old thread
>>30114411
>>30156486
FAL. Everything else requires silly levels of additional equipment.
For example, doing a G3 kit build involves folding and welding a receiver flat, which I can imagine is rather easy to bungle if you're doing it for the first time.
How much would you pay for a beat up L1A1?
>>30156516
How hard is an FAL kit to build? I know that no other gun is AR easy but where would it rank?
Hey, /k/.
I'm looking for a rifle along the lines of being cheap, durable, and being chambered in .308 win.
> Doesn't matter if bolt-action or semi-auto
> Budget is $100-$700
> I could care less about any other qualities.
>>30156366
>>30156390
Go for the tikka t3 or m77. Good bang for the buck.
>>30156390
No Remington 700?
Why doesn't anyone on /k/ ever talk about FN? Is there something wrong with FN's weapons?
No, it's just that FNH is a great company, and /k/ommandos can't find something wrong with them, so they don't talk about them too much, except for the scar.
>>30156159
Did you forget the "squishy" meme?
The FNX .45 unfortunately doesn't have thick a enough magwell. Other than that it's a pretty great gun.
because they dont make the fnc or fal anymore
ITT: custom knives, CFK or Impact, which one is the best and why?
>>30156085
Also: any other good custom knife Company you could recommend?
>>30156085
There is no "best".
There are so many custom knives, everyone has their favourite maker.
As for functionality, that depends on design.
Pic related is my bushcrafter mk II from Tlim. General drop point bushcraft blade, teak wood handle.
>>30156115
>company
It's not a custom, then. A custom knife is made by a single knifemaker. If you are talking about a small workshop, that's semi custom.
So I'm wanting to build a small metal foundry to melt down aluminum cans, but I want to expand to shit like iron and steel eventually so I can start getting into forging.
what would be an ideal material to use as a resilient crucible?
You may ask your question again on /diy/ my friend
>>30156044
Aluminium fumes give you alstimers
>>30156081
good thing asltimers isn't a real thing
Just for thinking
What would happen, if UK replaced their guns with thumbs up?
>>30156037
Nothing really would change.
>>30156072
What guns do they have currently? Tasers?
>>30156037
>Dont be a bum, put away that thumb!
>>30156083
rarely.
Finally got my NJ communist ID card and pistol permit and went to the gun store today to get my first gun. Held a bunch of guns and im thinking about going back tomorrow and picking up a FDE M&P 9 for $535. Am I fucking up?
>inb4 hurr durr glerk pur-fec-shun
It's a good gun, I've got one and it's never given me any issues. I didn't like the trigger though so I put an apex trigger/sear kit in it. Seems accurate enough, I wouldn't really be able to tell though, my aim sucks dick. I just prefer hammer fired guns, so it doesn't get shot a whole lot.
They took everything people bitched about glocks with and built a gun with those things in mind. I own a FS9 and a 17. They're pretty much the same gun.
>>30156026
That's a decent deal. If you do get it, check your sight alignment. The rear sight on my full size was way off.
