Who does /b/ think of as the best all-time soldier? Why are they the best and would it be possible for that soldier's feats to be accomplished now days? I'm putting in my vote for Simo Hayha.
For those unfamiliar with Simo you can think of him as the world's best sniper. He had over 500 confirmed kills in about 100 days ( excluding what was done with his SMG ) during the Winter War and became so feared the Russians began launching air-raids and counter-sniping operations to try and take him out. Eventually he was shot in the face and wound up in an 11-day coma. His nickname was "White Death" and he is known for his preference of iron-sights over scopes to avoid unneeded glare. He was promoted from Corporal to Second Lieutenant and died at the age of 97.

Forgot to mention that I don't believe his feats could be replicated today due to the advancements in satellite/thermal technologies.

Wasn't there supposed to be a SCAR variant that takes AK mags?
Whatever happened to that?
>>30112887
it is cheaper to buy AK from eastern NATO and ex Yugo country than design new rifle that take AK mag

My dad gave me an awesome holster for my USP Compact. I recently helped him buy a USPc and he bought us both the same holster. Whenever I holster my gun in this holster, it automatically switches my safety off.
Here's my question: is it safe to carry a SA/DA pistol in Double Action with the safety off? I'm used to carrying in Double Action with the safety on.
The USP has a firing pin block that keeps the hammer from falling unless the trigger is pulled. The trigger pull on DA is about 11 pounds.
Am I safe to carry like this? What are the odds the trigger could get engaged enough inside my holster to discharge the weapon.
>>30112851
No deckocked weapon will go off in a properly fit holster
>>30112857
This, that's exactly how I carry my FNX OP. Assuming your holster is covering your trigger, it's not going anywhere.
>>30112851
I carry a shield 9mm with no safety and did a trigger kit in it. You'll be fine.
What is it called when you oc a piece and also cc one underneath?

What's Delta really like? What are the actual qualifications like? You hear that 70% of the people who try out are Rangers and SEALs, yet only ~10 out of 200+ each year make it in.
What are their missions like? Also, I'd really appreciate if anyone has pictures like the ones of Vining to post them.
I'm Canadian and waiting for my medical to clear before I get sent to bootcamp. I was hoping in 5 years or so I'd be able to look into some special forces stuff. I know you can take the Ranger courses as a Canadian, but I doubt you'd be able to try out for Delta.

It's kind of like a gang initiation, as a Canadian you can choose whether to get beat in or fucked in OP.
Why were the south so retarded? Starting a war against the North for some retarded bullshit reason, just like the nazis against the world.

I had the idea, I know you guys like red orchestra, what if we could put together a team to mod Rising Storm 2 when it comes out, and make a Rhodesian Bush War mod? How would that be possible and what would we need?
>>30112639
>what would we need?
a fn fal mod
>>30112646
That's obvious, but the main components would probably be new models for players and new maps in africa, jungle assets could probably be reused. I just want a game where I can ride through the desert with my rhodies and shoot at nig nogs

What is the most special-snowflake, meme handgun you can get for under $500?

Bersa is a garbage company, comparable to Taurus.

Comment still stands, x1000
Can someone PLEASE explain to me why there aren't more modern made .44 mag, .357 mag, and .38 special semi autos out there on the market?
I can't see why gun manufacturers wouldn't immediately jump on the opportunity to make more semi auto magnums, considering the fact that they pack an insane amount of punch for self defense and would more than likely dominate the handgun hunter market.
Hypothetically, I'd kill to buy a Glock chambered in .44 mag.
So what's the hold up? Can polymer frames not handle the power? Too small of a demographic for people who'd actually buy them?
Anyone care to pitch in any ideas here?
>>30111866
>Too small of a demographic for people who'd actually buy them?
This right here. It would mostly just be handgun hunters and collectors that would buy them. For more practical use, .45 and 9mm are all you need.
It's considerably harder to make rimmed, straight walled cartridges run well in a semiauto.
Cartridges like .357 sig, 10mm, and 50 AE all run better. No rim lock and they don't need the case mouth to line up perfectly with the chamber to feed.
If you want a .44 mag it's better to use a revolver. Also, hunters take LONG shots with handguns, so revolvers/bolt actions/break actions will always dominate in the hunting pistol arena due to their mechanical accuracy.
>wasting the time and money to make a straight rimmed cartridge shooting auto loader that nobody bought the first time they made em.
What's the difference between say a S&W MP15 and an army issued M4 besides the ability to fire in full auto?
Is the quality better or worse?
>>30111787
Generally the same aside from a couple mechanical differences to prevent full-auto conversion. Similar quality. A Colt or FN is literally the same fucking rifle without a third hole for auto. At least, to my knowledge.
S&W M&P15 specifically, however, worse. Those are well known as being kind of shitty in comparison.
>>30111849
So if I want a similar civilian rifle to the M4 I should go for colt or FN?
>>30111880
My buddy was an infantry grunt. He was issued an M4 with a Knight's Armament lower and a BCM upper. Don't believe the fuddlore that only Colt and FN have been the only suppliers of M4's.
Serious question
How much more would a catobar cost if they originally went with it, and how much savings from buying the C variant over the B would make up?
Uh, the F-35C is the most expensive variant
https://www.f35.com/about/fast-facts/cost
>>30111773
I think they were quoted over 2billion, due to EMALs still being way behind schedule and not ready.
The official line is
"So much it would mean we could have only bought one ship"
With steam catapults comes a larger power requirement, a more costly power generator and more staff need to maintain such a system.
There are no savings to be made by purchasing the F-35C either. A carrier wing of 36 F-35Bs will end up being 3.7 billion vs 4.1 billion for 36 F-35Cs.
