Well, /k/ommandos, I'll never be able to join you in Outer Heaven. I recently mustered up the courage and funds to make my first gun purchase (goddamned sexy-ass mossberg) and found, to my horror, that my background check came up negative.

I sent in the PICS challenge form to find out why, and it turns out that, back in 2006, I had involuntary commitment on my record. This is because when I was 14 years old, my mother found it more convenient to send me to a mental hospital for the summer than deal with a teenager.

I have no idea how to get my gun privileges back, guys, and from what I've seen, here in PA it's basically impossible for something like this.

So my dream is dead; illegal immigrants have more of a right to a firearm than I do right now. Has anyone else on /k/ gone through this? Is there ANYTHING I can do to turn this around?

i've meet some good-willed teenagers in my life, believe it or not.

maybe you're just bitter about not being able to own a gun for being a degenerate

t. alcoholic
>>
>>30593390
There's probably not anything you can do about that.
This might happen to me when I try to buy my first gun but I'm pretty sure mine counted as a voluntary commitment.
>>
>>30593390
you could challenge it in court, I suppose. I've never dealt with so I'm not sure of what your chances are.

Also I'm unclear on the proper terminology, but 'negative' usually means something good when it refers to a check. see: HIV-positive

Never been on /k/ before, but I heard it's a nice place. For my first post, hows about some Underrated WW2 Guns? My pick's the BAR, it has a high caliber, shoots relatively quick, and is quite nice looking, aesthetically. But, then again, this was a trench cleaner in WW1, so...

>have had a multitool for ages

>almost never use the knife

>use the awl at least once every couple of days
>use the saw/file combo at least once a day
>use the pliers several times per day

>even when I was on a ship, I'd more often use the pliers or the screwdriver as a marlin spike than anything else, and didn't use the knife once ever

Why are knives considered tactical again? It seems like literally every other tool is more useful to carry

sailors insist you should have a deck knife on you at all times, just in case

i've never seen someone actually use one except for cutting zip ties on nigger-rigged things about to get proper-rigged (and even then, it's easier to torque them apart with pliers than to cut through the strap, i find)

i've seen a lot of marlin spike usage though, and if i could have only one tool to call my own and had to borrow everything else from the ship, i'd bring my own nice big automatic wrench before most other things

After trump people have been saying if hussein stayed in power we would not have ISIS. It's my opinion that saddams Iraq is much more dangerous than ISIS. Tell me where I'm wrong, /k/.

Saddam.
>Controlled all of iraq with force when none of the populace liked each other.
>Conquered Syria in under a week.
>Was the strongest military in the Desert with one of the top 5 air forces at the time and a well trained mechanized force that did not rely on allah to give them victory. (See Syria invasion planning)

ISIS
>Has not conquered syria.
>Has not conquered iraq.
>Losing ground to armies that were dropping guns and running a year ago. Also farmer rebel groups.
>Has no power to influence the world economy to the point of it being a negotiation tool.
>Biggest attacks on the US are "mass shooters".

>Conquered Syria in under a week.
You mean Kuwait? Because conquering Kuwait then wasn't a hard task considering he had one of the largest armies in the world at his disposal at the time.

Plus he thought that the Americans had given him permission to invade Kuwait. Saddam's only fault was that he didn't come crawling back after misreading the horribly prepared message that the US was trying to tell him with regards to the Iraqi-Kuwaiti oil dispute.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/gulf-war-documents-meeting-between-saddam-hussein-and-ambassador-to-iraq-april-glaspie/31145

Saddam would have stayed loyal and relatively stable (and through that the country, shame about what he did to the Kurds tho). Had he continued to control the country, and Iran would most likely be even weaker regionally as Iraq would have moved to counter its growth in relative power in the region.

Not outright defending him, just stating some facts and what I perceive would have happened had he never been deposed/got attacked by the US.

Hey /k/

Going to Buds Gun Shop in Lexington, KY this Thursday to put a few handguns for my everyday carry in my hands and get a feel for them, have any suggestions? I've had my eye on a Governor considering its a revolver that accepts .410, .45 LC, and .45 ACP, but I'm also eyeing a Kimber 1911 I saw as well.

Also, what do you carry on the daily and how do you carry it?

>Kimber
Don't. It's shit quality these days.
>>
>>30592252
Fug, for real? I was under the impression their quality standard was the tops for 1911's.

In that case, which 1911 manufacturer would you recommend?

>inb4 Colt

They are some of the shadiest arms dealers in the US, give no shits about the stores and probably the people that buy their products.
>>
>>30592206
i have a govna. i got it as a gift and its not really my thing. if you like it and want to carry it go for it. i dont really have anything bad to say about it other then the screw that holds the cylinder release comes loose rather easily but im sure some lock tight would take care of that.

Alright /k/, so a few things crossed my mind in terms of wepons and guns in general. The first thing I was thinking about was... when do you think the AR type rifle is going to become outdated? Do you think the U.S. military, or any other military that uses AR type rifles, are going to upgrade to some other primary weapon of choice?

As far as the second thing I was thinking about, that was..... when do you think lead projectiles or gunpowder in general become obsolete? What would be a good alternative to the bullet?

Extra points if you have any info on prototype weaponry that is in development as we speak. Thanks!

I think were going to move to hybrid casings next. No point building a heavy brass case that'll get used once (for the military) when a lighter, cheaper alternative can be built out of polymer-coated aluminum.

They would also prevent barrel warping because the polymer will prevent heat from being transferred.

Another trend I expect soon is all-steel bullets. Environmentalists will eventually demand it.
>>
>>30592148
Sounds neato, all steel bullets huh? Would that do more damage since it's a stronger metal? Or would it do less because it won't barrel out as much on impact as lead does since it's softer?

Also what would be a good alternative to bullets in general?

not lasers. not for a long time, and most likely never in the hands of a human being. the conceivable future of small arms development's gonna be centered around ammunition like it pretty much has been for over the past century; any advancements to whatever it's being fired from is pretty much gonna be icing on the cake. it's gonna get smaller, lighter, more accurate, and generally more effective at killing shit out of a more overall compact package. in a couple decades the traditional assault rifle might be replaced by some similar to pic related in size and shape. which by then, /arg/ will be a maelstrom of shitflinging and post purchase rationalization, as its circle-jerking denizens slip further and further into a world of delusion where shelling out major shekels for an antiquated design somehow makes them part of a special club or more of a man than people with practical guns. more than usual, i mean.

I ask because I was talking about it in another thread, and was met with the same faggotry I see in a lot of threads here, but no one actually stating they've ever shot one or even own one.

So if you own one, or have put at least a hundred or so rounds through one, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'm sure I'll find the other slackjawed faggot responses humorous and enlightening none the less, I guess your ignorance will only help keep my thread alive.

Thanks in advance.

It's trash.

Flaming hot trash.

Ergo is total shit. Trigger is crusty, has a long pull, and breaks unevenly. The little light is worthless. The belt clip feels cheap and is begging to be snapped. The body is made out of cheap poly and WILL deform if fired on a hot day. Cleaning it is a bitch. Mags are finicky and prone to spring damage. Accuracy is shit even for a compact. The sights are literally not sights.
