What does /k/ do with all their spent casings?
I would like to reload them, but I can't justify buying the kit I would want.
I tried my LGS to see if he wants to buy them, but he said that .223 prices are so low that I should wait until there is a shortage.
I'm also not comfortable to let somebody else reload my ammo just for safety reasons.
What do?
Keep them in a big bag and beat intruders with it.
Reload some 12 gauge shell with it
post ads on local equipment exchanges, the bulletin board at your local range, etc.
what reloading setup are you not wanting to buy?

So I got offered an awesome position and a greencard to move to the US, however it is California or nothing for the first 5 years :(
seeming that in Australia we are practically limited to bolt/lever/pump actions this is still an awesome step up...then later on I can move to real freedom land
so I need information from a commiefornian
first, where is the best place to buy ammo? I remember being there and we purchased ammo at a range for 80c/r of .223 which when you are an Australian starved of semi auto's...was really damn expensive...really damn quick
can you mail order ammo in california? and from where?
also what are the rules specifically in LA, I know carry is off the table, but I'm used to that anyway living in a pretty shitty part of Melbourne
I'll be looking at buying a 10/22, Ares SCR (I assume those are still legal) and an M1a for longer range stuff (yeah, it's not a precision rifle, but I've owned precision bolt actions here)
and then a 1911 because of the mag capacity and I've always wanted one
>TL;DR blog post on moving to freedom land and pretty bloody excited
(I will miss my V8 Holden ute though but I'll probably go all out murican and buy an f150 when I can afford it)
You won't regret the SCR

Ultimato bogano, friendo.
So I'm hearing Academy is following WallyWorld, and pulling Modern Sporting Rifles off the retail shelves.
I was in my local Academy last week, and I don't think they had received the order yet. But I also note I can't find any on their website anymore.
On another note, they're reportedly going to database info on peeps who buy more than a few boxes of ammo.
On yet another note, my local store isn't restocking spam cans, and those seem to be dropping off their website as well.
Slow motion gun control is in effect, it seems.
In a final ironic twist, the captcha was "Storefronts"
I work at the gun bar at my local academy sports.
By pulling "modern sporting rifles" off the shelf, we moved them to the gun vault. All you have to do is ask to see one of them, and we're more than happy to put one out for you.
Whoever invented the myth that we put your name on a list for buying ammo is retarded.
Any other questions?

Will they still be advertised? If not, why?
Why remove them from academy.com?
Where did the spam cans go?

Is there any real, legitimate data on how much capacity is enough? Say, for example a bell curve distribution of how many rounds are used in a gunfight, with corrections made for spray and pray.
There have been a few studies that concluded that most defense situations end without a shot being fired and that most of those that do have gunfire end in 1-2 shots.
In essence, for 99% of SD situations, a derringer has enough capacity.
When the stakes are your ass, "enough" is a meaningless term.
The question is what the maximum amount of safety you can feasibly have is.
Rule of 3
Why do gun manufacturers make such ridiculously heavy triggers? Would they really get sued if they put in decent triggers--you know, like the kind we now have to pay gunsmiths to put in after we buy the damn gun?
Yes.
>>30588568
This
It's pretty sad
I want to carry a j frame with a 3 lb trigger straight out of the box
>>30588568
Can you name any particular cases where that actually happened? There's no law that says a trigger has to be above a certain weight, and if it were really a huge liability, gunsmiths would get sued too, but as far as I know, they don't.
I was curious what you guys think are the 1-3 best and 1-3 worst in general .22lr loads.
I've noticed anything CCI makes is a lot more reliable than some of the other ammos.
The best load I've found is the Winchester Super X.
The worst load I've found is Federal Automatch.
>>30588449
this is the fucking worst
>>30589437
I just got a 500-round box of this stuff from SG. I shot it all through a 10/22. Not a single fuckin' problem, which honestly surprised me.
Regular Blazer is shit in my Savage. Thunderbolt is actually pretty good in it. Mini mags, well, they're mini mags after all. Federal Auto Match not bad. The new Browning stuff is good. Of course, these are all out of my gun.

I'm lusting after a Henry in 45-70 and I need some straight talk.
I've never had a centerfire lever action. Are they shit?
Is Henry shit?
Is 45-70 shit for innawoods, innawoods animal defense and duurrr huntin?
Are lever actions just useless fudd shit?
>>30588428
I don't like the Henry because it lacks a loading gate, and you've gotta use the poverty tube like it's a giant .22.
But that's prejudice, I don't know if they are actually strong or not.
>>30588447
I was recommended the Henry over the Marlin because apparently Marlin has shit quality control now.
>I've never had a centerfire lever action. Are they shit?
No, they're wonderful. I love my Marlin.
>Is Henry shit?
It's only shit if you're allergic to muzzle-end tube loaders. Otherwise the build quality is pretty nice.
>Is 45-70 shit for innawoods, innawoods animal defense and duurrr huntin?
45-70 will kill the shit out of any animal in North America. People use them on moose, grizzly, and polar bears. The only downside for durrhuntan is that it makes a huge hole in the animal so you lose a bit more meat.
>Are lever actions just useless fudd shit?
Fuck no, they're awesome.
Why did the Romanians dip the butt of the stock in black paint?
What other wierd stuff did other countries do to their rifles?
I suppose they wanted to make it look like they could afford rubber-pad stocks, but at the same time, they were Romania.
