I had a boring childhood, OK?
I got into a two hour long rolling car chase/gun battle with the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
For real though, I wanted to see what it would feel like if I fired a BB between my fingers and I felt the air blast.
It felt like pain.

Call me a faggot but I just fucking wish someone would do this to me so I could overreact and go to court because I mag dumped, reloaded, and dumped again into a teenager and maintained my innocence as a startled victim

Your pic infuriates me
Why do people like 22. rifles? I see no advantage or anything to them. Now, to each their own, but I like having some kick from my guns, and a 22. has none. Plus, they're not even all that effective for much. Not that I'm aware anyways.

Because having a cartridge that's smaller than my dick helps me feel less self-conscious.

Before .223 and 7.62x39 bolt guns appeared and ARs and AKs got common, rimfire .22 was pretty much the only game in town for low-recoil rifles. Everything else was .308 or bigger.

Got an MAS 49-56 - she's a beaut.
haven't had a range that takes 7.62 near me, so I haven't shot it yet.
I will say that, vs. the M14s (like a Napoleonic line-rifle), the G3 (manlet arms make the HK-slap impossible), and the Izzy FALs (perfect but just so heavy) I've carried - the MAS points and moves most fluidly/naturally.

Am I cool now? Also I just got back from the field and noticed a little bit of rust on my A2 front sight. Any tips on how to clean it up?
There, I said it. The modern world sucks.
Fighting men are meant to be seen. To be witnessed.
*snipes all you dudes*
that's why you have camouflage
now that any self-respecting military has IR cameras, tradtional camo really doesn't matter all that much.
>>31526816
Self respecting militaries don't fight each other in the modern era.
So, after a good while I got around to getting some dedicated storage, unpacked all 110gb and have the Do/k/ument at the ready for use.
My question is what the hell am I supposed to do now? It is a great amount of information that I now have at the ready, but no idea on where to start with it. I know it is in the way that I use it, but am not sure how I should go about this.

Are you fucking 12?
I'm not a big knife guy. I was military and used various issues and unit bought knives like M9s, SEAL Pups, and various Gerbers as utility and digging, but I don't know much about brands.
Anyway, I'm looking for a good utility knife for general purpose use innawoods for extended backpacking use. What knife and what supplies should I get to maintain it in the field?
>>31526707
ESEE 6
Fallkniven F1
For general cutting tasks: Mora knife.
For a survival knife: Ontario 499.
>>31526707
Get an esee knife, anything above a esee3 in size.
or a KAbar becker series knife, like a 17.
Now, having said those two option, If you have the money and want something real nice that you can pass down, get a winkler knife, belt model is pretty good size. or a randall made knife, get one custom made to your liking, or purchase one of their standard models on ebay or something.
You wont need to carry a sharpener in the field for any of the knives ive listed, unless youre out there for more than 3 days
Anyone have experience. Trying to get a MOA semi 308 on a budget. Not looking for an impossible 0.5" group for $800 but if it can hold 1-1.25" assuming match ammo and off a rest i'd be happy.
>>31526661
>precision semi .308
>on a budget
You're in the process of fucking up.
>>31526702?
all in the definition of precision though isn't it?
1.0-1.5" @ 100yd is doable or is it not under a grand with a 308 semi?
>>31526753
If you're just going to be shooting at 100 yards, .308 isn't remotely necessary. A precision .308 isn't really relevant until you're routinely engaging targets out at 600+ yards, and a semi-auto precision .308 is only worth the (considerable) expense if you're engaging multiple targets at that kind of distance under time pressure.
What are you planning on doing with this rifle?
Pic related.
I love traditional rifle ergonomics and have always wanted one of these. simpler is better imo. Anyone on /k/ have any experience with these guns?
>>31526646
I have had both the M1A and PTR
ask me stuff
>>31526657
Which one is more fun to take to the range or the woods?
Have you hunted with either?
>>31526646
Probably not as any kind of battle rifle but my buddy has an accurized DMR type one and its awesome.
Any of you here from Ohio? I see lots of other states but rarely anyone from Ohio. Also what do you all carry?
Used to be, now in PA. Much better here.

Used to live in Cincinnati. I miss having a 4 way chilli, that's about it.

>>31526296
It's a ballistic missile, though. An air launched one.
>>31526267
This offers more attack vectors for the Chinese but in practice, would the added speed and higher altitude of the launch give the maneuvering that much more KE in form of extra range or more importantly; speed to overcome the layered defenses of an USN CSG?
What's a decent gun for an 11-year old?
No .22LR, he already has one - I want a more effective cartridge.
A gauge shotgun
>>31526177
Don't baby him, .338 winmag
>>31526177
9mm 1911
Single stack so smaller fingers can wrap around it, trigger pull isn't too heavy and reach is decently short, recoil is powder puff when combined with a steel frame.
Does anyone have expereince with the SOCOM 16 m1a? I know its a meme but I recently held one and I fell in love. I know as far as battle rifles go the M1a isn't the best design and that a 16" barrel isn't optimal for the .308 round, but knowing that its not the most optimal combat rifle, how are they as guns?
Anyone have experience with them (good or bad)?
.308 loses a fuckton of energy out of a 16" barrel. Go for the Scout Squad instead. An 18" barrel and a standard M1A length gas system will make you much happier in the long run.
>>31526126
I know it loses a ton of its punch, but is it enough to make a huge difference at distances shorter than 300 meters against man sized targets? I'll look into the Scout squad but I'm a huge pleb who bought into the compact m1a meme hard.
>>31526126
You still have an effective range of 600 meters which is more than most people will shoot. So unless OP is going to play wannabe sniper, the 16inch barrel will be completely fine and to be honest if you are shooting past 500 you are better off with a bolt gun
What weird shit have you seen innawoods?
>>31525845

not really innawoods but I saw a beaver at Montrose harbor in Chicago on the 4th of july. Fuckin weird man.
Looking for a good 800+ yard rifle chambered in 300WM for under $800. I have my eyes on a Savage hunter right now, and I already have some Leupold glass picked out. Just need some opinions on the rifle itself. Bolt action preferred. I want to replace my old 30-06 Remington 700 and I'm not sure I want to keep shooting 30-06.
>>31525564
Just punching paper for shits and giggles, I'm guessing?
What don't you like about 30-06?
How far out are you actually able to shoot?
>>31525608
For shits and giggles, as well as elk if I can ever get another fucking tag. I enjoy 30-06, but figured I could get better ballistics out of 300WM, despite being a bit more expensive. Furthest I've shot something was a 2 liter bottle of Mr. Pibb at 720 yards.
>>31525631
If you don't plan on investing the significant time and effort it'll take to get consistent at 1000 yds there's no real reason for a 300WM. 308 is just as effective as elk and there are cheaper rounds with less recoil/barrel wear/etc that can reach farther than 1k.
Meanwhile, in 1941 /k/...
