So, hollow points are the go to for self defense/carry rounds. We don't need to discuss the ins and outs of why, but it got me thinking. Are there any /k/ approved fmj specifically designed for self defense that would defeat multiple or thick layers of clothing without overpenetrating before expansion?

I live in a moderately mild part of the states so the thought never really occurred to me before but I'm interested in learning more about the subject so lay it on me

Show me your long range or precision rifles.

I've got a week off and took a trip to the range today, very quiet but was hitting some solid groups and gathering data at different ranges.

Nice. I've gotten shit so far for only having a buis on mine rather than a carry handle, but the sight is nice, and I do plan on getting an optic at some point..so I didn't want extra parts when the intention is to remove it anyway.

That's life when you have a lot of bills: one project at a time.

What do you guys think of the sub2k? Would it be good for home defense or to keep in your car?

Are carbines with the magwell in the pistol grip stupid?

Would it be better in 9mm or .40?

Yes.

No, it's comfy

9mm, specifically the Glock 19 compatible model. You can use 33rd happy sticks and Glock 19 or 17 mags.

PVC works.
Steel is recommendable as long as you can angle it right, but PVC works just fine.

I have a 3-9x42b scope with a 400m rangefinder thats calibrated to x54r. It has an illuminated reticle. I haven't been able to find anything like it online. If anyone can help me ID it that would be cool.

Thats the 400m simonov reticle, designed for 7,62x39 rifles. Also your scope is not calibrated for 7,62x54r, it has 1/2mil clicks at least on elevation.

Anyone here ever have a cartridge fail on them for any number of reasons? What weapon was it and what provisions does it have to vent gas?

A few months ago I was shooting my m48 mauser and I was using some shitty Romanian steel case. As I was firing away, some of the rounds got stuck and the action wouldn't open, I had to hammer it open.

Well, I inserted another five rounds and I pulled the trigger, it fired and I felt all this shit fly back and hit me in the face. Some of it went into my mouth and I tasted it, the rest was on my face and I'm glad I was wearing safety glasses.

I doubt this is common, but how could a mauser 98 action fail like that? Was it the shitty (rumored out of spec) Romanian steel case?

My locking lugs look good. I've examined them already months ago. When I use brass or good quality steel case she goes like a champ.

So i have been wanting to get one of these rifles for a while as a fun plinker gun and something for the wife to feel comfortable shooting. I do not care that it is a reproduction rifle, just using it for fun. So can any anon make recommendations for companies to buy a new M1 carbine from? lets try to keep the upper limits of the price around $1800. I know about fulton and a few others, just wondering if there is a best rifle for the money out there. Thanks

if you want the feel of an m1 carbine but want the best bang for your buck just get a chiappa citadel
>not paying out the ass for a real m1 carbine
>not paying out the ass for .30
>>
>>31742951
Yea, no. I don't want the .22. I can reload .30, I'm not really worried about price of the rounds as they are fairly cheap around me anyways and there is always online.

So not one of you guys on here owns this rifle to make any recommendations for me?
>>
From what I can tell all the repros are pretty shitty. Auto-Ordanance, and Inland are the main repros it seems, and so far the reviews aren't that great. The Chiappa M1-9 is also an option, but it's also terrible.

Could the Royal Navy even handle the Russian Navy 1v1? I think not.

The Royal Navy has two roles, firstly to facilitate the projection of UK power to anywhere on earth. Secondly to guard GUIK from Russian submarines. The second role has taken a back seat since the cold war.

The UK has no interest in making a fleet to fight other surface fleets, because the only other blue water navy in the world is on our side.
>>
>>31742867
You ever wonder why the russian navy has so many ocean going tugs? and why thier ships are stuck in port even once the ice thaws.
> Not considered a blue water navy.
> Crap training
>>
British navy is not even a shadow of its former self.
https://soundcloud.com/war_college/what-the-hell-happened-to

Not being able to eclipse decrepit Kuznetsov with a carrier of their own must be embarrassing, but more importantly they wouldn't be able to provide a carrier with an air group and escort order even if they had one.
UK has no cruisers. Russia has 4 of them, carrying ridiculous amount of long-range firepower.
UK has 13 frigates but their purpose is anti-sub warfare whereas the Russians are focused on surface engagements.
Russians have 12 blue water corvettes with cruise missiles capability and can easily overwhelm Type45's with saturation attack.
Russians have more attack submarines and modern Yasen/Akula 2/3 are roughly on par with Astute class.

If these two navies were to engage each other in the middle of the Atlantic right now, Russia is very likely to come on top.
Should it come to defending Britsh Isles, the Royal navy is likely to pull it out. Not without heavy losses and through the help of RAF.
The Royal navy attacking Russia in its home waters is suicidal to say the least. The Russians have a retarded number of stand-off defenses and cruise missiles able to target each British ship with 50 to 1.

All of this being purely theoretical since UK is part of NATO and would never go into war alone.

Realistically, people like to save money. Myself included. Any day I would rather but any Glock over $2000 dollar 1911. That being said, I also buy budget guns that I know perform well. Like my ATI 1911. For me it's balance of value, quality and price. I just don't think that paying for a gun that I could 3 or 4 guns for the same price is a good idea, especially if the only benefits are finish and smoothness.

However that being said there are garbage guns that are cheap and a lot of people buy. The fact is that a new shooter doesn't really know what to buy, and will probably get something cheap to try and get into shooting. Realistically, however, of the person refuses to listen to others and still buys the garbage, he/she probably won't really get into shooting.
