I'm considering purchasing a CZ-75B, but I'd like /k/'s opinion on it before I pull the trigger.

I love the aesthetics, particularly the high-polish stainless steel version, the history and reputation on the company seems positive, and it shoots great. I reload, but 9mm is dirt cheap too.

On the negative side, I live in Commiefornia, so I'm limited to 10-round mags. It would be a range gun anyway, not for home defense. I may be able to conceal-carry in the next few years, and might carry it if I do. I'm a big fan of the DA/SA with firing pin safety on.

Is CZ still a reputable company with quality products? Should I be looking at competitors? I'd be willing to spend up to $1,000 for the right pistol.

Can /k/ recommend me a .223 bolt-action? Price is the number one factor, dont wanna go much over $300 USD new. Ruggedness/reliability is number two factor. Customizability is number three. I will consider used rifles if they are common/easy to find

I live in CT so ARs are not legal, and Mini14s are too expensive. The .223 is cheap to shoot and has minimal recoil, which is why I am choosing it instead of .308. If you want to recommend a different caliber that is fine, but I need the ammunition to be cheap, no more than 50% more expensive than cheap .223. I want a scope which is why an SKS will not work either.

I am leaning towards a new Savage Axis or used Stevens 200. I would certainly appreciate something with some more magazine capacity than those

Sorry for double post but a savage axis in .223 is a good option I think for you at that price point.

I say save up more and go the CZ527 route.

Thread for all the illinois /k/unts who are unlucky enough to live here.
Anyone know of any decent ranges in Cook county? Also, is that mag limit actually enforced, or is it just a huge smelly chunk of bullshit?

Streets of Chicago. You don't even gotta get out of the car to shoot.
>>
Maxon Shooters in Des Plaines. Great range. Also, there's a lot of debate on the magazine restriction, but from what I gather it only applies to long guns as of the CCW law passing. Also, just dont get caught and it won't matter?

I recently picked up a pair of old bolt-action rifles; one of which was a sporterized Argentine 1891 Mauser, and the other one is a bit of a mystery: it looks a lot like a Mauser, but there are minimal identifying marks as to make or model. It looks like it is designed to accept a detachable magazine, but I can't tell much else beyond that. Any assistance in figuring it is appreciated.

Alright /k/ would you rather get 10 free guns (none can be a 50 BMG) of your choice but you have to let your dad pee in your mouth.

Or would you rather fuck Hillary Clinton in the butt for one 50 BMG of your choice, but Bill has to wisper in your ear how gun control gets him off.

I imagine it has been decades since William Jefferson Clinton has been in the same zip code as Hillary while she is getting sexed. It would be disturbing and uncomfortable for all involved.

I'll pass on the free guns altogether.

Should I move to Colorado or Oregon? Which state has better gun laws? Which state is better at outdoor wilderness and hiking n such?

I'm kinda thinking Colorado but idk. What does /k/ think?

Colorado. Our gun laws aren't enforced, they just make it hard to buy shit online.

Denver's an exception, though. They have a full-retard AWB because "muh home rule"
>>
>>32756077
I personally prefer Oregon overall, lots of great wilderness if you like woods, water and mountains.

hi /k/.

I recently started a new job as armed security, and was issued a Ruger Security-Six. Is this a good gun? I feel under powered because other dudes bought Glocks or Smiths and I've never had a gun before (just got the armed endorsement on my guard card last fall), just plinking with a Marlin 60 and sometimes shooting my buddy's SKS.

What is it chambered in?

If it's .357, then your fine, 9mm and you might want to consider picking up a semi or a better revolver.
>>
>>32755906
They may not be popular now but it's a good gun, op.
>>
>>32755906
security sixs are nice sold guns. perfectly acceptable for the mall cop whos not going to maintain it at all but needs a gun to look tough. it will take all the abuse you will throw at it. of course if you do get into a firefight having a six shot revolver will suck shit but its not like mr security guard will actually fire it. your job is to call the real cops.

These are for humane kills.
.22 will kill an Elephant if you do it right, but odds are the gentle giant will suffer great agony before dying.
>>
>>32755867
Roughly it's pretty good, hotter or softer loads can strech some of those rounds, I've taken black bear with 7mm rem mag as well as white tail. It's a flexible round.

As a guide line? It's good. If you want to get snobby or picky or use some more rare ammo or loads you could expand a bit.
>>
>>32755867
300 Savage is basically a .308 twin that lost out to it in popularity even though it predates it. So I would say it has the same potential.

>what did you shoot
M249 saw, ak47, krinkov, vector, desert eagle, UZI, SCAR light, tommy gun, all on full auto except the deagle

>what was your first impression
"HOly fuck guns are way louder than I thought and I thought they were plenty loud." Also the recoil from shooting full auto is much stronger than I thought, my chest is still red/bruised. next time i will do double ear protection, it was indoor range and i only had over ears.

I feel like I'm austistic because in my head, if I was like the leader of some were country where I was the despot, the military would be trained with so many antiquated precaustions that it would be the most overtrained expensive army ever. Everyone would have all these back up plans like heliographs and navigating by the stars. lol I'd have to rent them out like hessians or my country would go broke
>>
>>32756955
The heliograph.
You basically send morse code using sunlight reflected from a mirror.
It's the first practical wireless telecomunication device.

You could achieve ridiculous communication distances using a heliograph and a telescope.
The world record is about 300 miles I think.
