Why can't /k/ come to a consensus on what constitutes a "good" gun? Everything is an argument. No seriously, it's a like a room full of women, you guys literally invent shit to bitch about.

because k is basically a hive of manchildren who get their info off video games and television. very much similar to women and fashion magazines

No, but I still come here because I've learned more here than any other gun outlet on the internet. there are some really knowledgeable people here. Admittedly, it's still 90% attention whoring trollfest.

Hey /k/omrades I just turned 21 and I'm going to do some handgun shopping today. I have a few guns in mind (pic related). My price range is $700. You guys got any suggestions for me to look at.
>>32750520
Finger fuck the FNS series if you are interested in a poly striker.
>>32750520
Do you have anything particular you want to do with the gun?
>>32750560
Just range shooting and home defence. Not looking for a cc yet.
So I want to the hell hole know as the VA Phoenix hospital on an emergency visit. I turned in my firearm at the police counter and proceeded to the emergency room. I ended up staying overnight, a total of 18 hours. Anyways, after I get released, I have to go get my pistol back. It's fucking zip tied tied through the magazine and zip tied through the fucking barrel. Zip tied trigger through the chamber and it just looked like they were literally scared the pistol was going to grow legs and start shooting people.
Well, I get home, take the zip ties off, clear the weapon, and what the fuck? Now my pistol can't properly slide back and lock without man handling the bitch. And when it does lock back, I can't send the mother fucker home with the release. What the fuck did these assholes do to my babe?
>pic related
>tl;dr zip ties appear to have sabatoged the functions of my pistol. What do?
Kill yourself.
Bring it to a gunstore that does repairs, have them look. A bunch of keyboard gunsmiths will tell you information, some will be good, most will not since no one can visually inspect your pistol in person.
Ultimately your responsible, you could file a complaint with the hospital. I highly doubt anything will come of it. You'll end up having to pay for the repair, and it will be a friendly reminder to not give your hand gun to anyone else.
However you did the right thing by handing it over, and it sucks that something now is messed up.
>life
>>32750497
Did you disassemble it to see if a piece of zip tie might be caught in something? If not try it and if it doesnt work its a shit gun anyways.
2/10 made me reply to a question that belongs in a QTDDTOT
How small does a gun need to be so that it doesnt print (or almost doesnt print)? I like the XDs in 9mm, but its larger than some other subcompacts
Bump
Cmon i know /k/ loves having opinions
pls my family is dying
So it's better to kill the attacker because if they live you'll be neck deep in legal shit, right? And the most commonly taught way is to shoot center mass, right? So how hard would it be to get a heart shot on your first shot? Technically you're shooting center mass and it'd be easier to get away with self-defense that way and the attacker would survive the encounter
>>32750312
You also got more than just the heart. You got the lungs and the nerve stem running through that. If that gets severed, the brain can no longer send msg to the body and you die.
>>32750312
>So it's better to kill the attacker because if they live you'll be neck deep in legal shit, right?
Myth.
>And the most commonly taught way is to shoot center mass, right? So how hard would it be to get a heart shot on your first shot? Technically you're shooting center mass and it'd be easier to get away with self-defense that way and the attacker would survive the encounter
Center of mass is taught because it's far easier to hit a larger target like a torso than anything else.
>get away with self-defense
Doesn't matter where you shoot your murder victim, an actual self defense claim isn't predicated on shot placement unless you shoot them in the back of the head.
>>32750371
>the nerve stem running through that
You mean the spinal cord? Hate to break it to you, but many a spine has been severed and the person lived.
You also forgot the liver, kidneys and pancreas. Hitting any of those almost guarantees the target dies without immediate emergency attention.
>>32750371
But if you only manage to hit the nerve stem you'll cripple your attacker and have to pay support
Hey /k/, I'm under 21 in California and I really want some kind of .22 handgun, or anything I can get get.
Is there any way to legally nab a handgun without being 21? Or am I fucked for another year?

Multi Faceted question
How quickly am I going to get tired of lugging around a 10 lb rifle on hikes?
I'm looking into going on a "get me the fuck away from everything" vacation to some heavily forested, preferably mountainous national park. I've seen enough movies to know since it'll just be me and the pupper I know I won't be rolling with out some form of protection on hikes. My only choices are my PPS 9mm, XD .45, and PTR. I've got a 3 point sling so I can wear it as an awkward backpack, but how quickly will that get old?
Right now I'm looking at northern CO or northern MN.
So given my choices, if you were hiking alone, 800 miles from the nearest person you knew, what would you take with you? And as a bonus, what were some places you think I should look into for getting away? I've had 3 days off in the past almost 2 years, and a divorce, a couple convoluted and involved relationships and a business on a rocky trail. I need to get out for sure.
Coloradofag here. If you end up going to Colorado, drop as much weight as you can from your pack and add as much water as you can. Altitude sickness comes on fast and is miserable.
Having said that, when I go on extended hikes I carry my Browning A-Bolt in 7mm Rem mag and usually my usp in .357 sig. The 7mm is my elk gun and it's also not very heavy. I have also done a lot of hunting in northern Minnesota but not much hiking, but I'd imagine a short bolt action .308 or something similar would be ideal. The cedar swamps can be tricky to walk through with a big rifle.
Colorado you have to look out for bears and rattle snakes, Minnesota you have to watch for mosquitoes mostly, and the occasional drunk Indian.
I probably wouldn't take a gun, but if I did it would be the lightest, most powerful one possible. Probably like a .357 LCR. It's just over a pound and has enough firepower to be useful. If you look at what other distance hikers do, it's always about lowering carried weight as much as possible. Trying to be under 20lbs, ideally less. Carrying a gun at all is not a good use of weight, carrying a 10 lb rifle is just retarded.
For people with more knowledge than I, post this same thread on >>>/out/ and post the link here so I can watch everyone call you retarded.

>How quickly am I going to get tired of lugging around a 10 lb rifle on hikes?
within 30 minutes you gonna have a sore shoulder. Better get a nice 'Fudd pad &sling' combo, pref one of the 'gel' ones with suede covering.
>preferably mountainous national park.
no guns usually, better check your park's rules, some are only guns allowed with signed letter from chief park ranger.
>My only choices are my PPS 9mm, XD .45, and PTR.
PTR will work, but you better get some comfy pads. Your handgun choices are shit, but the PPS with 124gr FMJ will work for big kitties and butt-raping vagabonds.
>Right now I'm looking at northern CO or northern MN.
prepare for pupper to lose all 4 paws to frostbite, followed by you freezing your ass off along with a few toes.
>what would you take with you?
a motherfucking SATphone and solarpanel battery charger for when your 'I read some infographs on /k/' expedition turns into a "Tonight, on your local news at 4...."
If you wanted to go light, I would look into a 6" .44mag with softpoints and speedloaders/moonclips so you can get rid of that 11lb PTR
Where would you get high quality chain mail? Looking for something that would protect me in case of a knife wielding aggressor
bump, also interested
none of that costume shit only real please
>>32749977
Unless you are looking to spend assloads of moni, look into a modern stab vest instead
I don't know a place to get it, just know that it is typically insanely expensive for real chain mail. It takes forever to make and destroys your fingers in the process.

Question, is this a full stock or is this one of those face rest that your not legally allowed to put against your shoulder? Can't tell, looks kinda short.
>>32749541
it's a full stock, and makes ARs legal in commie lands.

>>32749541
That's a compliant stock. That mag isn't CA, NY, NJ, CT or Mass. legal though unless it's pinned.
desu I have nothing against rifle grips it's the fucking handgun roster that gives me problems. I have to drive all the way to fucking Provo to get a fucking Jeherico
Found a guy selling a sig 1911 target, supposedly never shot once, for $600. Comes complete with everything that's originally packaged with it. It would be my first 1911 and I wanted to see if anyone has one or experience with one.
Why do you need other people to tell you whether you would be happy or not
Is $600 worth it to you for a nice gun or would you rather be a poorfag who lies about owning a nugget on here

that sounds suspiciously cheap, it's probably stolen.

Greetings!
It took a long damn time, but I'm finally eligible to purchase a firearm in my country. I'm from Europe, so the rules are very strict here.
After doing tons of research, I've decided I want to buy the CZ SP-01. However, I'm having doubts between the available variants of the SP-01 pistol.
I will be using my pistol for sporting and eventually, hope to do IPSC (parcour) with it. However, I also want to be able to safely carry it when shit hits the fan (you know, with all the Muslims and all...). Now both are excellent guns, but the Shadow variant has no firing pin block. This makes it less safe to carry fully loaded and cocked. On the other hand, it has much better trigger pull then the regular SP-01.
To summarize: Which would be better for carrying in a war/self defense situation? They are both hood sporting pistols, but I'm curious to see which variant /k/ will recommend and why.
Thanks in advance guys!
>>32749451
Where exactly are you from?
The Shadow lacks a firing pin safety, making it less safe to carry. On the other hand, because it doesn't have a firing pin block, it has a better trigger.
>>32749451
>It took a long damn time, but I'm finally eligible to purchase a firearm in my country. I'm from Europe, so the rules are very strict here.
And Eurofags are constantly blaming Americans for referring to your entire continent as if it were a single country...
Also,

lolwut.

Don't kid yourself. You're not going to be carrying this gun, but if you for some reason decide that you want to risk getting thrown in prison for the rest of your life by your nanny state government, then odds are, you won't have a proper concealed-carry holster, meaning you are going to be more likely to accidentally drop the gun out of your waistband while trying to carry it. Why not buy the gun that is fully drop safe?
There is no practical difference in trigger pull quality between the two guns if you are using them for carry.
I'm completely gun illeterate

any idea of a site that sells surplus stocks, handguards, sights, grips, etc? there are plenty of swat models floating around relatively cheap, but its damn hard to find one with the classic style furniture
