How do you guys deal with two point perspective?

I can do it when using guides but freehand it can be a little wonky sometimes.

Ive tried figuring out techniques but is grinding the inly way?

Idk if this is a thing but if you make a circle where the first vanishing point is on one edge, and make60 degree angle from ur eye to the center of the circle to find the radius, you can get decent two point perspective. Can anyone build on this? Is this a known technique?

Hi friend,

Could you elaborate on what exactly you're having issues with? And what you're trying to make?

Is it just you have trouble drawing the straight lines without a ruler? Or just over all construction(vanishing points and all)

There's multiple ways to get there free hand or "kinda" free hand.

I suggest making a brewers grid. Once you've made it you can put it under another sheet of see through paper (like marker paper) and construct from there.

If you plan on making a building or object digitally. I suggest scanning in your image you think is wonky, then finding the vanishing points on your horizon line. You'll see how off you were and can adjust them with the line tool.

It's also a good way to check yourself.

All and all practice drawing boxes with the vanishing points on the page and not off of it (as don't draw to imaginary vanishing points)

You can get brushes that emulate sai in csp. Sai can pretty much be considered the "have you seen me" younger brother on your milk carton. Go on my child, csp is wating for you to fly into her squishy bosom.

Why do people do this??? I get only tumblr does stuff like this but why? Also the colors are overly saturated and the position of the left arm makes the forearm look elongated and unnatural.

Also, oh shit the old thread died. Sorry I didn't answer some of your questions on this one, when I went to look at the thread it was dead cause the thread died. Sorry.

I talk about abstraction. How to abstract, when to move onto the next painting, when to keep going with the one you're on (Spoiler: I don't really know), and I try out my new catchphrase at the end of the podcast.

Are there any other artists like this and what other Bacon paintings do you hold in high regards?

I really don't like Bacon and most of his contemporaries but yeah, this one is really unsettling. Also Bacon was royally fucked in the head. He had a really fucked up slave/master relationship with his bf.

Bacon is great, and it takes a special eye to understand his work. People get caught up in aesthetics all the time and don't bother to look at the context of the artworks. One artist I find particularly unsettling is Jenny Saville, anything she does is quite grotesque and disturbing. Pic related

Forgive me /ic/ for I have sinned...

I have squandered what little """natural talent""" I was bestowed, forsook Loomis, and shunned those who suggested I start practice in earnest.

What follows is a collection of some of my stuff done from 2011 to now. Some may be as old as 2008.

Shameful I know.

I am here asking for forgiveness, as though I work a normie job all these years later I still harbour guilt over my futile attempts and my plateau.

we draw to improve, not to fish for likes

There are only a few reasons to even try learning to reproduce styles of other artists fully.

1) You're a full time animator/comic artist assistant/illustrator/etc who has to be able to produce images exactly as dictated, not as you prefer in your own style.

Actually that's it.

Sure you can do this for fun, but it doesn't really do anything for you. Well, it's practice at least.

However those "challenges" as the other duder says, are 90% like bait and bandwagoning and not done for the sake of improving or even for "fun".

Has anyone tried drawing or painting on a curved monitor? Does it mess with your eyes/proportions? And while we're at it, how good/bad do Wacom tablets feel with Ultrawide monitors? Just curious.

Thinking about getting pic-related. I absolutely need 144 Hz/1 ms for gaming, but I want colors to be decent enough so that I can still art. Seems like the only monitor available right now that fits these requirements:
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-24-Inch-Curved-Monitor-C24FG70/dp/B01M1DEEYP

Otherwise if the curve is too wonky I'm going for this:
https://www.amazon.com/24-inch-FreeSync-MG248Q-Repsonse-DisplayPort/dp/B01F9UC20Q

I've realized that getting an IPS @ 60 Hz isn't going to magically make my artwork or skill any better, so I don't want to use it as a crutch just because the colors look better at first glance. I'll jsut recalibrate the monitor with the windows tool if I need to. I'm prioritizing speed since I'm sick of this blurry, slow/unresponsive stuff along with the screen-tearing.

I don't want to sacrifice performance either, so 1440p and 4K are absolutely out of the question. I want as close to zero lag as possible while I'm painting.

A curved 24" 1080p monitor is completely retarded.
The argument for curved monitors is that they're supposed to compensate for viewing distortion when you're sitting right in front of a large ultrawide, but even that's debatable. In a small, low resolution monitor like this it's most likely detrimental. Other than that it's a good monitor, pricy for 1080p but it's quantum dot.

As for 'needing' a gaymin monitor for painting, stop being retarded. A monitor being 100th of a second slower doesn't make it unresponsive or blurry. Maybe try one that isn't a piece of shit. Smaller resolutions also do not make your painting faster. Photoshop is not a video game. If your system is bad enough that 1440p causes Windows to lag you need to upgrade to something that isn't 10+ years old.

How does one get employed? Where do you guys apply for jobs? I've been really unlucky when searching for work and seldom find gigs. A lot of sites just spam me with crap, job offers are by people who end up dropping their project once it gets hard and I just don't know where to look anymore.

I go to galleries and socialize.
I've been to various conventions on different subjects and mingled there.
Have contacted people online personally, whom I think might need an artist.
I've of course done Craig's List countless times.
I've tried to leave a good impression on co-workers in past projects I've been in.
I've tried getting a following online with moderate success.

Could any of you give advice?

Yeah. I didn't mention, but I offer commissions to the specialty fetish crowd since everyone says they have fat wallets.

While I'm not squeamish and I don't really mind any of it, I can't say I'm proud of myself.

>>2851090
It is. I don't think I'm too bad, I can do a more regular style pretty well, too, but I dunno, I don't even know what I'm doing wrong, man.
Lots of people are better than me, sure, but there's also a ton of people who are meh or even outright crap get lots of attention and I just don't get it.

Eh, it's cel-shaded, so to me it seems a little closer to impressionism (at least the landscape, anyway).
