Hey folks,

I'm looking for a coffee table type book of renaissance / religious art that I can use as references for a film project.

Would any of you know of a good book?

da Vinci networked really hard to get his name out there. Lots of drama helped keep him current. He made mad cash in commissions too.

Ask yourself why any artist is famous. Why any artist living nowadays is famous? Is it because they have talent? Or is it because they know how to suck a mean cock and advertise their skill to those who want their cocks to get sucked.

just post it in the porn thread

Id fap to it but the face is pretty dull.
>>
>>2339891
If you're actually going for a monster, for all intents and purposes this is literally a trap with an alien mouth and thats it. It needs more.
>>
>>2339891
To be honest, I dislike its design. It looks far too humanoid. Maybe recreate its design to be more... "alien," figuratively speaking.

There is some level were you just aren't aware of your mistakes. But most artist can see what's wrong. So getting a critique that points out whatt is wrong doesn't help that much.

Wouldn't it be more useful to actually get advice on how to fix what is wrong. Because chances are he knows it's wrong but doesn't know how to fix it or were to get the information to improve.

Sometimes, when you work on a piece for so long, you kind of forget to look at your own work as someone who has just seen your work for the first time. It's nice to get a person who actually has seen it for the first time.
And you're right, a critique needs to be specific and that's the reason why people here do those red lines at times. But things other than shapes and composition are often quite difficult to translate into words that the person can understand. Without just fixing it for them of course which is no use.
>>
no, pointing what you're lacking might or not be userful, but that's up to oneself to be serious and take the effort to learn the fucking thing you're missing or misunderstanding

If someone is really trying to get better, good critiques will be userful. It's simple. If someone is just asking for hugs then it's other thing

Anybody has any experience with them? Anybody else thinking of registering?

Various poses/etc come up, how would I learn to draw these? I can somewhat visualize a pose, but that goes for thousands of different poses/angles but I can never draw them accurately. How does one go about learning to draw all these various poses? Is it practicing that one pose over and over till it's ingrained? Or is there a way to generalize ?

read the sticky. Gesture drawing. god damn you.

theres a question thread btw.
>>
>>2341171
Not OP but what the hell are we supposed to discuss? If questions go in the question thread and beginner stuff goes in the beginner thread thats like 70% of the board. it just seems like every other comment is telling people where their questions and stuff should go.
>>
>>2341191
Because that is where they should go. Your argument is what? You want the board to be messier?

Fucking what.

I see there's already two tattoo threads up, but I want to start a bit of a discussion as well. Is pic related too feminine looking? I want to get this, but I may like another design better. Can anyone sketch up something similar? My tattoo guy is out of town for the next week so I can't get a hold of him. Also, post feminine tattoos and their masculine counterparts.

shitty taste to be honest, not very appealing and positioning lacks to be desired. find something more along the lines of your quirks, not a cute insect cuz thats one of the few things youve been exposed to as an option.

I get it. It's an odd tattoo, but I come from /co/ and it draws from a character called the Blue Beetle. The subject and area of the tattoo are pretty important

I really want one of these so I can sketch anywhere and draw on the go without carrying a crazy big sketchbook. Is it worth it? How good can you draw with it? I've been researching th whole of this week and I'm about to get one so far everyone says it's amazing for a drawing tool.

why not a sketchbook

if you're questioning spending 800 pounds on something to maybe use on the go I think you already got your answer
>>
I post a similar response in all these iPad threads

It depends a lot on your workflow and how much time you spend in the iOS ecosystem. If you are a heavy iPad user, then the drawing / sketching capabilities are a great addition to your usual iPad activities.

Personally, I had a strong aversion to going digital, but the iPad makes it much more convenient to start a digital drawing. Also, I'm no pro, so apps like procreate give me more than enough functionality. I use about 50% of the procreate features and about 6% of PS.

I already spend 8 hrs a day at the computer, so when I go home the last thing I want to do is to spend 3-4 more hours with intuous at the computer. I can draw during my 4-5 hrs of commuting (but I usually sleep instead) or I can draw on the couch while watching movies.

But I still prefer traditional over digital

Note: I am talking about NON-AMERICAN countries where you can major in Medicine, Dentistry, etc as an UNDERGRADUATE)

Some high school students who got extremely good grades in their finals (i.e. good enough for Medicine in non-American countries) decide to major in Fine Art. Why is that?

>Job market for Fine Art is super bad
>Every job has its own terrible aspects and most people hate their jobs over time
>Really, all jobs are repetitive and become monotonous over time
>Even if these people are super passionate about art, they will get sick of it over time similar to how people get sick of eating the same food each day
>These people can just pursue art as a hobby > They can learn to love a job which pays better - these people are just being picky

Fine Arts seem easy to an outsider's perspective.
>>
>why won't everyone do what i want them to do!

who are you to decide or judge what other people pursue

>Really, all jobs are repetitive and become monotonous over time

i can't speak for all schools of art but for say a fine artist that exhibits art at galleries for sale that's just not true. they generally spend a year or two creating a collection and then repeat. as well as the animation industry where you can work as say a storyboard artist in one instance and a layout artist in another, etc.

>these people are just being picky

some people want to make it their career. it's completely different than pursuing it as a hobby. they're not being picky because they want to do what they're passionate about.

>Even if these people are super passionate about art, they will get sick of it over time similar to how people get sick of eating the same food each day

this is just facetious and not supported by anything but your own misguided ignorant opinion
>>
>>2331276
I know it is not. So why don't these smart kids just pick a major which leads to an "easy" job such as Actuarial Science or Nutrition?
>>2331278
Most people dislike their jobs over time. It is a fact. A "normal" person will suggest shit like this: http://archive.4plebs.org/adv/thread/16592175/#16592175

Howdy, I got a few pieces of various mediums I hope to create. However, I just want to talk about one that just came to me tonight whilst playing OSU! and I observed a deep space background. All I request is some feedback on the concept and how it would make you feel.

I just want to talk about the concept first: Deep space, a frontier no man has ever been. Your distress beacon has been on for what you can only describe as what seems like forever. Your supplies are gone, your fuel, expended. You are stranded on your reserves.

The cold is closing in on you. Your thermals can only contain so much of your heat. You are dying. Your breaths begin to come slower, you cant feel your appendages, thoughts... become... fuzzy... and... less... linear.

But that is when you notice what is in front of you. This beautiful frontier, never before been seen by anyone, and likely to be the last. Your last fleeting thought before you slowly fade to black.

I want to capture this feeling of well... hopelessness and happiness. Assuming you died a happy explorer anyways. I have always wanted to be a space explorer, but more like a space cowboy. So this kind of thing makes me feel like I wish I was born to be space faring.

Medium wise I feel like a digital representation, ie 3D in oculous rift, with a particular song set, maybe faint orchestration, maybe a down beat chill. I want to start on this, but I lack the know how and the hardware.

But first, I want some opinions on it. I never have anyone to bounce these kinds of things off and I figured, eh, why not here.

I think the idea is more the requirement for care to measurement and precision rather than any arbitrary time-limit. Basically it means "don't rush it and just slap down lines until you get lucky, take your time and make sure you get it right intentionally."

That's my impression anyway, I'm not super well informed on bargue plates so take it with a grain of salt.
