In both fantasy and science fiction, from books, movies, games and tv shows, slave armies are a concept that is used pretty often. A well known example of this is the Unsullied from game of thrones. Some works use slave armies in Roman settings. However I wonder, was this ever used in history? The concept seems really weird to me. By creating a slave army you have just given the slaves all they need to kill their masters and break free. They have all the weapons they need, and they've gathered up a large number of slaves in the same place.

I don't see how anyone that owns slaves could ever allow slaves to hold weapons unless you have a much bigger force to keep them in check. So were slave armies ever used in history? And if so by who and when?

The Turks had slave armies called "Janissaries", they kidnapped the sons of Kuffars (non-Muslims), brainwashed them, and turned them into slave-soldiers.

What were the immediate post-Civil War relations between the ex-CSA and the USA? How many years was it before the average person in the south stopped holding a grudge against the northerners? Is there still any grudge between the north and south today?

>What were the immediate post-Civil War relations between the ex-CSA and the USA?

Things were very tense. The southern states were put under military governments during a process called "Reconstruction", which almost made the Southern States colonies. This lasted until 1877. Similarly, southerners detested northern "carpetbaggers" that came to live in the south.

>How many years was it before the average person in the south stopped holding a grudge against the northerners?

There's no hard-and-fast cutoff, but I've read that it wasn't until the Spanish-American War when the mutual bitterness subsided. However, the north-south divide was visible politically into the 1960s.

>Is there still any grudge between the north and south today?

Some, but it's relatively minor. The Great Plains and mountain NW are often "northern" but act more like southern states than other northern states, so the divide is more than just north-south.
>>
>How many years was it before the average person in the south stopped holding a grudge against the northerners?

I have a lot of family in the Southern states. Even today there is a lot of animosity towards "Yankees" and there is still an apparent political divide, but it goes a lot further than the Civil War.

The United States of America conquered the Confederate States. It annexed and ruled them, and over time integrated them.

You are conquered people.

One thing I'd like to talk about is the Cremation of Care (see op pic). It's a play that's performed at Bohemian Grove every year and which invites the viewer to leave all their worries behind for a moment. It's even on Youtube. I have the habit of watching it on this date by myself.

Do you have any insights into this play? Like what traditions exactly they're drawing on, etc.? Only scholarly stuff, by the way, and no conspiracy theories. (/pol/ pls leave.)

I believe there is no god , and that we , as the great late Charles Darwin proved evolved from the apes.
My definition of "jewish" is someone who believes and practices he bullshit of the imaginary jehovah.
I hate the "jews" , arabs, pakis,niggers,turks,persians,afghans,indians,bangladesh,bosnians,albanians,chechnyeans,indonesians,malaysians.

I wish I was born something cooler, like Italian or Japanese or Irish or something like that.

I've got nothing against capitalism, but why should CEOs be paid 500 - 1000 times their average employees salary?

Would all that extra money be better off reinvested into the business and give pay rises, which would boost employee morale, productivity and subsequently business profits?

Good luck getting an answer that doesn't involve bootlicking or temporarily embarrassed millionaire mentality.

Because the board of directors hired them for that amount of money. CEOs are just another employee and can be hired and fired whenever for whatever amount of money. The big shareholders are the ones who truly wield money and authority.

Excellent invention and civilization of ancient Rome was lost by Christianity.
For several hundred years from the Middle Ages, medicine and biology also stagnated due to it.
If Christianity did not exist, in the late 19th century it would already have had the same level of civilization as in the 2010s.

Rome was falling with or without christianity. It didn't cause it to fall but it didn't alleviate it either.

how do you properly practise european paganism?

Is it inherently ethnocentric?

even worse, you often worship your local spirits and interpretation of deities. spirits are tied to the land, they live in stones, springs, groves, mountains, rivers and lakes.
>>
>>2980401
>Is it inherently ethnocentric
No, there's nothing stopping an Ionian making offerings to a Dorian's hero, or a Roman aristocrat worshiping the same goddess as a Nubian.

>how do you properly practise european paganism?
With sacrifices!
>>
>>2980401
>how do you properly practise european paganism?
As in authentically as some Europeans did ages ago? You can try and do what you can but a lot of information is lost, not to mention that paganism was never monolithic and naturally varied from place to place, so there's the additional headache of that out.
>Is it inherently ethnocentric?
Not necessarily but there tends to attract groups of people practicing for aesthetic reasons as opposed to purely spiritual, wether it be just reactionary Wicca bullshit or "much traditions and ancestors" types.

Btw, I totally agree. It's a breath of fresh air from all those youtube and TV attention whores who pointlessly have to force commentary and have the camera on them.

there are theists and atheists. but both obey the law. both actually trust the fairness and reasonability of law. how do you find laws reasonable ? like, making stealing worth 5 years, or raping worth 7 years, do you think it's reasonable ? and if it is, what makes you think so ? is it because you trust who constructed it ?

what about morality ? how do you find whether something is reasonable or not ? do you just compare it with your personal belief ? or do you just trust the competent creator of it (God) ?

it's pretty weird, how atheists refuse religion for the way theists interpret morality and reason, but they do the same thing towards law. like they have the same thought pattern when obeying the law as how theists obey religion.

this makes me come into conclusion that atheists are atheists only because they don't want to admit something that is uncomfortable for them.

you don't have to consider the law fair and reasonable to obey it. you just have to recognize that people have power over you and will enforce their law through punishments if you do not obey.
