I think the idea that there only should be one mascot is better than having two. no old men tho.
Anyone else found their new home board in /his/?

Help.

UK or US? Uni level or more college stuff?
Like settling in a new, promising land.
Lots of wild animals and riffraff to fight first, also the landscape needs some slash and burn.
Just report the /pol/ nonsense diligently and this might turn out fine.
Did the enlightenment movement fail? If so, why?
Not really no.
If you mean it in the broad sense, the Scientific Revolution since Descartes has led to the period with by far the fastest scientific and technological progress in human history, and it's still going on today.
If you just mean the political Enlightenment of the 18th century, the ideas of Rousseau and other thinkers of the time still form the basis for our entire concept of nation-states, constitution, and laws since the French Revolution.
The only dent is that Enlightenment founded the Modern Era, and today we live in the Postmodern Era which is all about deconstructing everything including what Enlightenment has built. Still, there's nothing to replace it.

Great analysis, I was going to memespout but your post convinced me not to.

Go read Foucault and then suggest a proposition yourself.
A lot of discussion of history is focused on a few particular nations such as Italy, Greece, Egypt, China, etc.
What are some countries and regions with lesser known but still fascinating and entertaining histories that deserve more recognition? I hear Central Asian/Turkic countries have some amazing history, are there any works on these areas anyone would care to recommend?
Portuguese history is under emphasized IMO, they have a very interesting history.
I liked reading about the rise of the Arabs and before that as well, with the Lakhmids and Ghassanids.
You should know, it's not about where, it's about who and when.
If you want to be a hipster, find some obscure faggots from a place irrelevant for its period, and you're done.
ITT: documentary requests, discussion and links.

Hellstorm- The Real Genocide of Nazi Germany.
Truly brilliant it brought a tear to my eye. Why isn't such truth taught in schools?www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMCOKNCwHmQ
What's the point? I'd rather have a thread about book requests, discussion and links.
>>32049
Sounds good but would that not be more of a thing for /lit/?
What went wrong, /his/? It used to be one of the most powerful nations in Europe, and it suddenly disappeared in a period of 30 years.

Liberum veto?
>>31673
democracy went wrong
>>31673
The Liberum Veto. That's seriously it, the frequent devastating invasions in the 17th century didn't help but the petty noblemen paralysing the government because muh ancestral rights was 100% responsible for it becoming a failed state unable to defend itself surrounded by 3 great powers, and once you're a failed state unable to defend yourself surrounded by 3 great powers the rest is inevitable.
Thoughts on the Frankfurt School?
>>31750
I'm curious. Why don't people want to discuss this? First I've ever heard of this.
go fuck yourself

>probably smoked weed with Thomas Jefferson
>witty as fuck
>had a cane that dispensed oil he used for party tricks
>died from pneumonia because he sat naked in front of windows in winter at age 80

History is about "is" not "ought."
Is he /his/ approved?
His "empire hooray!" views are really off-putting. My lecturers told us to steer clear of his nonsense.
>Niall Ferguson
Literally who?
>>31295
What do you mean by off-putting?
So /his/, are humans really alone in the universe? Do you believe in ancient aliens?

EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FIGURED OUT
I don't happen to agree with OP but truth doesn't fear investigation.
>Was born a peasant.
>Left her parent's home when teenager.
>Meet the King in person and told him to get his shit together.
>Lead her army into battle, obtaining key victories that eventually won the war.
>Being faced with the ecclesiastic judges, managed to outsmart a bunch of sell out academics.
>Managed to avoid rape, and eventually be recognized as martyr.
All this before her 19. What have you accomplished, anon?

what do you all think of modern tv and films all black and brown leather costume designs when it comes to historical anything?
I'm personally growing kinda tired of it, along with blue tint for cold. shit is bland as fuck.

Did the New Deal really help or did it make it worse?
>>30556
It helped, but entering World War 2 helped more.
Doing nothing would have hurt rather than helped.
>>31363
The market would have fixed itself.
Yes
I'd say ask your grandparents about it but I always forget mine are way older than yours
It's really hard to find someone who actually lived through the depression and WW2 who didn't think the new deal helped
