Hey /his/,
There's a term for demanding land because it sometimes in the past belonged to your ancestors. But it can't think of it right now.
Help me out.

Liberation?
>>1324783
Or maybe reclamation.
Why didn't Japs helped their friend Hitler to defeat USSR, instead attacking USA and making things worse for everyone?
>>1324754
Cause the Axis sucks.
>>1324754
They got spooked by Zhukov.
>>1324754
Unlike Russians, Japs actually adhere to their treaties and they had a non-agression pact with USSR.

How about some of you faggots try endorsing endeavors with actual ends. You argue about the words of others like gospel, but shun the truth in scientific method like the plague. I guess it's fun to play smarty-pants with quotes and diatribe of ancient minds while true intellects carve the future with real progress. Doesn't tipping your fedora endlessly get tiring?
>>1324732
The scientific method is literally based on the philosophy of empiricism.
The first chapter of any science book is about the philosophy behind science.
While there are plenty of rather ridiculous philosophies and some humanities are bunk, you are a fucking moron if you don't think philosophy is important to practically applying the scientific method.
>>1324732
So who pissed in your cereal bowl there Mr. Special Snowflake? Is this a history or philosophy question or are you stirring things up with a shitpost like everybody you are apparently complaining about?

what did he mean by this?
Educate me on the political philosophy of Martin Luther, and Lutheran social and political thought in general.
I know Luther was pretty Jew-aware. I've also heard that his political ideas were very right-leaning and quasi-Hobbesian and Machiavellian, and they derive directly from his theology.
Anyone care to elaborate on that and/or point out instantiated cases of Lutheran political thought in states and politicians in history?
Can German Idealism and Hegelianism be considered byproducts of the Reformation?
>>1324718
>Educate me on the political philosophy of Martin Luther, and Lutheran social and political thought in general.
He hated peasants and Joos.
>Luther constantly writes that God "damns the undeserving" as well as "elects the undeserving."
>"You may be worried that it is hard to defend the mercy and equity of God in damning the undeserving, that is, ungodly persons, who, being born in ungodliness, can by no means avoid being ungodly, and staying so, and being damned, but are compelled by natural necessity to sin and perish; as Paul says: 'We were all the children of wrath, even as others' (Eph.2.3), created such by God Himself from a seed that had been corrupted by the sin of the one man, Adam. But here God must be reverenced and held in awe, as being most merciful to those whom He justifies and saves in their own utter unworthiness; and we must show some measure of deference to His Divine wisdom by believing Him just when to us He seems unjust.

He was a virulently anti-semetic Catholic friar who could no longer stomach how vile and evil the murderous thugs who ran the catholic church had become, so he tried to get them to come back to normal human behavior. He failed. Then he tried to fit in with the Jews after he got excommunicated from the papists, and failed there too.
Then he went full evil and let his true catholic nature shine by writing "on the Jews and their lies", which inspired Adolph Hitler, who quoted it several times in Mein Kampf.
To the papists, he's the boogeyman. They pretend every Christian in the world follows Luther, and thus attempt to make Rome the capital of Christendom when in fact it is the house of evil spirits and all nature of foul things.
I'm writing a novel set in Sub-Roman Britain. Would anyone here knowledgeable in Saxon or Romano-British culture be willing to help?

>Would anyone here knowledgeable in Saxon or Romano-British culture be willing to help?
British, roman and anglo-saxon culture were basically all the time. The standard narrative about britons being taken over by romans and adopting their culture, and then a foreign culture invading or settling and rising up is basically a misconception based on historical myths and legends. It was all the same people from britain to germania
>>1324852
so basically with your story, you could tell it a bit differently to the status quo historical narrative by having roman-british culture being rooted in the neolithic rather then just the colony of a foreign invader, the anglo-saxons as kinsmen of british clans/tribes enlisted to defend briton after the collapse of rome, as they were roman military themselves
>>1324669
There are very few sources for sub-roman Britain. If you want a rough picture try the Confessio or On the Ruin and Conquest of Britain
How were minorities other than black people(latinos, chinese hawaiians, etc) treated during the civil rights era? Did they have better treatment/rights than blacks?

I once read this book on Mississipi Chinese immigrants. It shines an interesting take on the AmericChinks as they saw the discrimination on their asses as similar to what they had in China: class discrimination. Most Chinks who emigrated out of the dying Empire/shaky Republic were peasants and faced the same difficulties and discrimination back home.
So their solution for most problems was basically "upward mobility: keep working, they'll soon forget that we're shitty peasants."
There was that Japanese chick who promoted Marxism and Black Nationalism so as to weaken the US so Japan could break free, remilitarize, and reestablish the East Asian Coprosperity Sphere under the Emperor (and fuck up China). I can't remember her name. She was on the Google page a few weeks or so ago.

What an incredibly intelligent question. Such a rare occurrence on /his/. I don't know, but I look forward to the discussion.
Melting pot, not a tossed salad. There are americanized versions of all cultures, including Islam. All cultures can get along I'm harmony if they respect the values of american freedom.
>>1324324
in harmony
>>1324324
Amen
>>1324324
Unfortunately that isn't how it works
The US is a nation that constantly imports it lower class. Discrimination of an immigrant group ends when said group fits into the American definition of "white". The problem with this system is that some groups are never going to be "white" so while Irish and Italians manage to get away with it, everyone else is treated as perpetual foreigners. This create social unrest and leads to the creation of ethnic enclaves when all the nonwhite groups rightly believe that they have no stake in assimilation if acceptance is always off the table
American freedom doesn't mean shit when Americans don't adhere to it themselves

If you are talking about how the section on Christianity was inaccurate because they got some of the stuff about similarities with Egyptian mythology wrong it hardly makes a difference.
Its clear to anyone who looks into it that Christianity and Judaism were both just rip-offs of Zoroastrianism that resulted when a run-of-the-mill bronze age tribal/city cult came into contact with Persian Zoroastrians.
And when I say that I'm not even trying to denigrate those religions or say that they don't offer valuable teachings/lessons/insights etc but just because Zeitgeist is wrong on some parts doesn't change that the Abrahamic religions are basically fan-fiction.
What's your opinion on this person?

How come Japan get colonised by a European empire?
How come Japan industrialised so quickly?
>>1323042
August 1945
America opened the ports.
The "unfair treaties" weren't unfair to clans like the Satsuma or Japanese merchants who operated more or less tax free. Imports flooded into the country and Japan was already highly urbanized by pre-industrial standards so the economy adapted rapidly. No european power attempted to ban the transfer of technology or sale of high tech goods or capital goods (except the sale of arms, but even this had little effect), this is a myth stemming from the modern era's hysteria over racism which forces me to write the below disclaimer.
This can be contrasted with China which was in turmoil over the Taiping rebellion at the time. Some Chinese merchants became very wealthy, but it wasn't an ideal place for large capital investments.

disclaimer: not saying colonialism was justified, technology could have transfered with or without it

Why didn't the Soviet Union incorporate into itself the post-WW2 Eastern Bloc states as SSRs? Is it solely because of Yalta?
>>1322889
Because Stalin was a realist who understood putting numerous different peoples who don't speak the same language into a union is unworkable in everything from demdemograp harmony to language barriers.
>>1322906
>putting numerous different peoples who don't speak the same language into a union
But the USSR was exactly that to begin with, fuck you talking about?
>>1322910
Yes, and Stalin spent the entitity of his rule forcefully migrating people who looked like they were going to start shit. He worked within the parameters he was given.
