How sad it is to be Aragonese and read this nonsense; Aragon abandoned the concept of nation by the hispanic union, Castile also did and neither the Aragon nor the previous Castile exist at the moment.
Currently we all feel Spanish, not "Aragoneses" and "Castellanos".

How does ballet today differ from ballet in the late 19th century?
Do you have any favorite ballets? Do people even go to the ballet anymore?
>>1966518
I've never heard of any ballets where I live and I've never seen one performed. I like some of the music though. I listen to Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet sometimes.
The Royal Opera House has an excellent video series on the history of ballet, with visual examples.

>How does ballet today differ from ballet in the late 19th century?
It's a lot of technical stuff that's hard to describe verbally, much of it has to do with how extreme extensions were. Overall the technique was very similar though, although modern ballet technique is much more rigid in that it emphasizes full extensions much more.
Body types of dancers were very different, so were the feet and ideal body weights. In general, the modern dancer has longer legs, longer arms, longer neck, shorter torso, smaller bust and is skinnier than their late 19th century counterpart. Modern dance feet are more ideal. Feet are another thing that's hard to describe.
The preferred costume has also changed, its become more desirable to see much more of the dancers leg.

Why is France so aesthetic compared to England?
Is it to do with Protestantism?
Climate, mostly.
>>1933116
It has to do with the fact French are superior in every way. France is possibly the most aesthetic country in earth, it helps that they were very populous during most of history thus have a lot of towns. It also had a lot of cultures under its borders which lead to a great deal of diversity in aesthetics.
ITT: we create our own ideologies, others describe them and their feasibility
>libertarian democratic marxism
>>1977436
Unfeasible, because even though that's pretty orthodox Marxism, most people since the cold war think Stalinism is the same thing as Marxism.
>>1977436
>Libertarian Democratic Marxism
You could have just stopped at Libertarian. It's only in America where that means "Right"-Libertarianism. In every other nation, 'Libertarian' refers to Anarchism/Anarchist. Which, generally, contains all three things you listed above.
>>1977489
There's a pretty big split in libertarianism if you consider property a natural right or a tool for oppression. A lot of intellectuals listed property as a basic natural right, alongside with life and liberty.
I mean, back when you had aristocracy and shit, the answer was the same for both sides. Give property rights to everyone so people can stop being oppressed by people with property. It's clear that every having property rights is more libertarian than only some people having property rights. But that's where the ideological split begins. Some people see the elimination of property rights as oppressive. Some people see the institution of property rights as oppressive.

When do you think we'll see the rise of a new major religion? I'm not talking about some fringe cults here or there, but instead, something completely new and dramatic that will begin spreading rapidly, with a good prognosis for 'major religion' status.
What traits do you think would be required for such a belief system to grow rapidly in today's world?
probably some hippie, forced, multiculti syncretic religion
kind of like baha'i but with more liberal shit added, and even more obviously forced
Assuming new, radical off-shoots from Christianity don't count as entirely new religions?
The Chinese will probably adopt something after the enforced atheism collapses. That's the largest group without a religion. Probably a charismatic form of Daoism, if recent trends are anything to go by.
Apocalyptic Environmental cultism is probably on the horizon too.
no religion was invented from zero but by reforming existent ones
When did medical science go from legitimate breakthroughs and never-ending breakings of established dogma, to a dogmatic, religious and zealous pseudo religion where NOTHING gets done, and the science is always "settled"?
I feel as if back then, scientists wanted to be proved wrong so they could move humanity forward. Now, science is some kind of weird new age religion, where scientists don't want to get proven wrong, and don't want to move humanity forward.
It seems like medically, we stalled in the early 80's. But shit defeintely started going in the wrong direction in the 50's. I've seen people say that if we had the current FDA and insane red-tape we wouldn't have drugs like penicillin, the polio vaccine, and insulin. Is this true?

What's pretty pathetic is that the cowardly Brits at Dunkirk were saved by a heroic last stand of the French army
And now they try to silence that truth to make Brits pass for the heroes of that episode
It's pretty sad given that it was the only heroic moment the French had in WW2
Btw, here's what actually happened at Dunkirk

Are the french the nation that gets its history the most cucked by modern entertainment media?

When people criticise the Abrahamic religions, they often bring up supposed inconsistencies within their scripture. One that comes to mind is the way God's character seems to change when comparing the Old and New Testament.
But do any inconsistencies within a school of Buddhism exist? Since I'm more familiar with Theravada, let's use the Pāli Canon for example. I've read a good but of Theravada suttas, and I'm unaware of any inconsistencies that exist in the Canon. I don't believe I've ever seen an example where one of the teachings seems to be in conflict with another one. Every teaching on the nature of the mind, consciousness, rebirth, etc. seems to be consistent.
Is anyone aware of any inconsistencies?
Why does the Buddha always look so feminine?
>>1973478
Buddhism really doesn't have inconsistencies. The entire religion pushes in one direction: experiencing "thus", or total mindfulness of human experience in the moment
There's no god, there's no afterlife, it's all based upon human life and a mindset that frees you from suffering.

Memes aside, what do you think of Communism?
Although unified in its goal for workers seizing the means of production and establishing a workers' democracy, Communism resonates differently among its adherents.
What does Communism mean to you and what is its relevance in the 21st Century?
I think it might b cool and we will inevitably, trend toward it (but only because of muh robots)
Communism is a jewish plot
>>1973141
I think worker ownership of the means of production is a good idea but I don't like universal democracy within the state.
I also like the way communism tends to be anti-nationalist.
ITT famous fetishists/deviants of history.
Sultan Ibrahim I, known as "Ibrahim the Mad," was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1615 to 1648; however, he really only ruled in name. His mother and vizier were the ones mostly in charge, because Ibrahim himself was totally fucking crazy.
In particular, the man had a strong weakness for fat women. He sent out a search across the entire empire for the fattest woman he could find. This wound up being a 300+ pound Armenian lass; Ibrahim loved her so much he made her a governor.
Made my day, mate.
Obvious Roman Emperor "I was a slutty tranny before it was mainstream" Heliogabalus. He even wanted a sex change (namely, cutting his dick off), but had to stop at circumcision. He loved luring Roman men into a trap by pretending to be a (female) whore. Did I mention that by the time he died the little twink was just 19?

Eh, the female sultanate had already begun with the power Suleiman allowed his wife to wield

In pre industrial times children were simply an investment. A tool that can help the parents survive and make money.
After industrial revolution children rights developed as parents could survive by working and also provide for kids. Children become something of a pet, a liability after that. That's why people have few kids recent

Pederasty has been looked down on since before the industrial revolution you fucking brainlet
