Hello /his/, /x/ here.

I was looking at very old tarot decks and I noticed something at the Death cards that drew my attention. As you can see here, the death has some sort of headband. Other designs also feature this kind of headband. It reminded me about those headbands that the dead have in anime.

So, my question is: do you know why does the death have a headband? Do you know if there was some medieval custom to put this on the deceased?

After viewing how many old european things (like the thunder greek god image) reached the far East, I started wondering if this headband that the ghosts have in Japan is another case of this.

This does not appear in latter decks (ie already in XVI century it disappeared), only in the very old ones. In some cases it is only a skeleton without clothes but it features the headband, as if it were something special.

I have found no info regarding this yet.

I'm not sure what I am.

I used to be agnostic but now that I've given it some thought I don't think that term fits me anymore. I did quit like the idea that we with our current knowledge can't answer whether god exists or not but it feels a bit incomplete now. I was slipping over more to the side that we could never find out if god exists but I believe I've taken a step further.

I've concluded that the question itself is wrong. That the distinction between "God" and "No god" is inherently meaningless.

Does this have a name? I guess it could still fall under agnosticism but I kinda wanna distance myself from that as its most common interpretation assumes the question is valid. Are there any philosophers who got the same idea?

Sounds like you've come to terms with God existing.

Now read OT NT and the Koran and see which one makes the most sense to you. protip: don't read the Koran

Apatheism.
Apathetic-agnostic.

I used to identify with those terms. Lonely times. I liked them that way.

I had theories to back up my claims too, on how the universe may have come about. But they were all no different than the human creativity I perceived religion to be -then.

But, I also never gave Jesus a chance. Eventually I did. I accept Jesus today.

How come Ethiopia developed so independently when compared to other civillizations? It seems like the empire of Aksum had next to no neighbours except the middle east (which were hostile to them for the most part) and still managed to flourish and develop complex systems of writing, architecture, and such.

Trade dude, they sat at a bottleneck(the red sea), also there were multiple kingdoms surrounded by nothing like that in africa, also ethiopia sits on unique highland geography, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Did you cut off the greeks and south thracians and put them in the place of the britons?

It doesn't do much, since europeans probably came into the continent from the long way around, through modern Ukraine, and not through Anatolia.
>>
You removed the aegean and messed up the shape of Britain, with a bigger cyprus in particular?

Well first of all, Europe wouldn't be as developed as they are now due to the extra problems involved in travelling from Anatolia to Bulgaria. No greeks to be influenced by persians would lead to no alexander the great, as well as no grecoromans in general, meaning Europe would continue being illiterate savages without a bronze age, and thus not in any way an equal to China or the middle east. Perhaps slightly better off than the gulf of guinea was, development wise.

Stop taking grammar classes from Trump University.

Confucius called it the "rectification of names". When everyone can speak and name things coherently and consistently, reason and progress follow.

Do you ever think of what America would be like today, if he had remained Vice President during the fourth term?
6 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2049399
Probably shittier. FDR and everyone around him knew that he was going to die in his fourth term. Truman was a very strategic decision, because they knew they needed a VP who could actually run the country for at least the remainder of a term and lead it through the end of the war.
>>
>>2049505
Do you know anything about FDR and Wallaces Relationship?
EVERYONE wanted Wallace.
The entire country wanted Wallace.

It was the party bosses who wanted Truman because they were scared of Wallaces Progressive views. Wallace was the main pick and lacked a small number of votes to win and the convention was shut down early the first night by the party bosses to keep him out.

Truman himself didn't think FDR would die.
Truman also stripped his cabinet of almost every single member from FDR's cabinet.

If Wallace had been President I think the country would have gone in a much better direction:
We wouldn't of dropped the bomb.
We would of ended segregation about 15 years earlier.
the entire nation would have been much more progressive much earlier.

I personally think it's very sad to think about, and the way Wallace was treated during the Fourth term was FDRs biggest mistake.
>>
>>2049569
>We wouldn't of dropped the bomb.
Sorry, I was unclear. This is the critical issue that gave Wallace the boot. America was at war, and it needed a wartime President, someone who would make the hard choice like that. Truman was that guy. Wallace wasn't. Wallace either would have tried to sign an armistice with Japan, letting them take another crack at it 20 years later, or he would have let Operation Downfall go through and killed several million men instead of the <200 000 that the bombs killed
