The death of the Turko-Persian Tradition is why the middle east is cannibalizing itself in search of a new identity

Excuse me, this is /his/ not /int/ or /pol/. This was a culture that spread from the Balkans to India and lasted from medieval to the modern era. Its death marked the end of progress and stability in the middle east.

Why are Young Earth creationists views marginalized, /his/?
Why is it considered by some to be acceptable for people to believe in the miracles recorded in the gospels for instance, yet following Genesis and believing the earth is 6000 years old just as Christians have done for millennia is somehow more controversial?

Good question. Personally, I have nothing but contempt for "Christians" who say things like "Genesis is just a metaphor!". What they're saying is, "I know my religion is absurd, but I'm still going to complain when you mock me for my absurdities!". At least Fundies reject reason consistently.

Probably because despite muh golden age maymays, Andalusia was an irrelevant shit hole while Constantinople was more or less the capital of the world.

Is Political Islam always associated with violence? Is the use of violence or conflict intrinsic to Islam or religion for that matter?

It's only the case for Islam and whatever crude jungle religions that bushmen follow

>Is the use of violence or conflict intrinsic to Islam or religion for that matter?

To Islam, yes. The Koran is extremely clear on this subject, Muslims are forbidden from being friends with non-Muslims, and must wage war until all non-Muslims accept subjugation or covert to Islam. This is not a universal trait of religions, all religions CAN find violent passages they can interpret for political ends, but only Islam is violent without any interpretation needed. In fact, you need a tremendous amount of special pleading to NOT practise violence against non-Muslims.

>all religions CAN find violent passages they can interpret for political ends, but only Islam is violent without any interpretation needed.

Ever read Bhagavad Gita? FFS at least Islam gives you rules of engagement and tells you not to kill your family or coreligionists. Meanwhile Krishna tells Arjuna just to kill for killing's sake, cheat, use dirty tricks and just murder everyone regardless of their relation to him.

Could atheism be considered a religion?

I know I know sounds complete bullshit and might very well be.

> Religion ≠ god
There's religion without the presence of Gods. Buddhism, laveyan satanism, confucianesim... These are just some famous examples, ...
Wikipedia defines religion as: rites, dogmas, beliefs, practices, world view.

> Atheism
Now atheism in a strict sense is the disbelief in god.
Because, skeptics and empirist would say that since there's no proof for it then, people don't chose to not believe but rather take a normal stance (like a default) like using a Occam razor to say, I don't choose to not believe.
But there's no real default, and let's take in consideration that all of those are philosophies.
When we are born we are incapable even of adressing the question and growing up in a certain environment will shape us.
(thus there's no default)

Although god, as any incomplete problems, is not possible to resolve.
Like a Matrix (Holographic theory of universe) it might very well be but we can't materially test it.
I'm convinced although that to reach the conclusion "I don't believe" a person needs some kind of subsets of beliefs.
So I don't think the burden of proof, should be taken as default in this case.
Thus I think that those people do believe in a system that excludes the presence of god or any supernatural manifestation from their mind.

>Believing (or not) is a personal choice
Since is a matter of believing in it, is a mere choice of beliefs or belief system that gives atheism, namely a personal preference. So to say believing or not is a personal preference.
I need to add that I also abhor the majority of the religious beliefs, and I think they are wrong, not because they are wrong in itself but because they lead to discrimination, violence and irrational choices.
So some atheist are indeed seeing atheism as a religion, more than the simple no to the existence of god.

I'm not here to criticize atheism, I'm an atheist myself.

I'd say so. The following is quoted

Non-theists, Atheists, Agnostics, and Nonbelievers - People who identify with these categories, lacking the “supernatural beliefs” of most definitions of religion, could be considered nonreligious.- However, they derive meaning and purpose from natural symbols through a worldview, much like those who practice religious ritual.

This is what strangely occurred to me.

>Irrational fear?
just a thought, generated by the fear that atheism will be the next radicalized ideology in the coming years.
>>
>>2050677
>in the coming years
It essentially is now, and certainly has been the case in several despotic regimes for a while now

It's a proud British tradition that inspires soldiers and boosts morale.

French officers (and soldiers) on the other hand run away and cower before the battle even starts.

Do you know anyone personally who lived in the DDR back in the day? What was it like?

Awful, like all communist regimes.
>>

The GDR was basically the Soviet Union on steroids, because the Germans don't fuck around maybe. The Stasi had basically no budget to watch the entire population, but damn if it didn't try its best to make everyone feel like they were watched 24/7. Also, being in the Warsaw pact meant travelling was nearly impossible, getting shitty communist versions of products, when products were available (lol Kaffee Mix), and bending over to the USSR. Also the fucking Trabant lol.

On the upside, no homeless, stable jobs (and prison for those who refused to work lol), free education and gender equality I guess?

There's the website of the DDR Museum in Berlin that has a bunch of info on the topic available, if that's your thing.

How can we rank the Allies in importance of their roles in at defeat the Axis? IMHO

Communism today is more like fascism. State capitalism, nationalism, traditionalist values, statism, Uncle Joe really ended it as a Jewish program for the destruction of nations and turned it into the force that made China into the sole world superpower.

Because I don't like Tibet.

They're a bunch of religious goat-fuckers and I could literally not care less that the Han are oppressing them.
