You need a new definition of edgy, friend. It's a valid point, there is supposed to be legitimate discussion of world religions but most of the times threads about Christianity turn in to Christfags circlejerking about going to Church and how everyone will come to realize God. Nobody wants to fucking hear it.

Whats the point of studying history if we live in the objectively best period of time?
There are no lessons to be gained from learning about the past of inferior men and their miserable lives

>objectively best period of time
For the average man sure, but there were many great men who lived more luxurious and fulfilling lives than you: Gengis Khan, Cao Cao, Marcus Licinius Crassus etc...
>>
>>2109894
There will always be things to learn from the past.
It's important to remember and study to know and learn from the mistakes of the people before us and to build upon their achievements.
Things will still get repeated in new ways of course, that's unfortunately inevitable.

What accounts are there of minorities becoming leaders or magistrates within predominately white systems? We're there ever accounts of blacks rising through the ranks of Roman Empire?

Just curious

>1. gloablism will always lead to more nationalism

if a nation doesnt succeed in the globalized economy, the people will vote for protectionist policies thus becoming more nationalistic (for example greece, usa, uk, etc.).

if a nation is very succesful in the globalized economy, it will want to use its new gained economic strength to pursue national goals and thus becomes more nationalistic/imperialistic (for example turkey, china, etc.).

only if the integration into globalized markets has almost no effect on the national economy nationalism will neither rise nor fall. but this rarely happens, most are winners or losers.

>2. since the rise of nationalism is inevitable, one needs to go: globalism or democracy

there can only be two of these three things at the same time: globalism, democracy, nationalism. since we know that nationalism is staying, in the coming decades we will see one of the others go. which one it will be depends on which countries can dominate. if it is the winners of globalization, the future of mankind will be a globalized economy between authoritarian states that surpress their peoples. if it is the losers of globalization, the future of mankind will be national economies with democratic government.

an example for a country that is globalized and nationalistic is china.

an example for a country that is democratic and nationalistic is russia.

an example for a country that is globalized and democratic doesnt exist, but it could be the EU.

So the mankind has basically three options for this century. It will be dominated by the chinese system, or by the russian system (see for example the victory of trump). there is a slim chance that it will be dominated by the EU, but highly unlikely.

Can we say that every different perspective and measuring tool creates a new and different picture of reality that should not nessecarily be compatible with any other?
For example, a person looking outside a shuttle and seeing earth as round and a person looking at the sky from earth can be said to have two different experiences of reality, or of cosmology but why should one be wrong while another right? Cant they both be right despite not being compatible?

No retard. Facts are objective, and perception is relative.
>>

>facts are objective
What? How do you define objectivity? As something most people agree upon? As something that solves a problem? As a measurment of a mechanical tool?

Humans have focused on certain ways of thinking for a long time.
The idea of finding a single truth, a soure of all other knowledge. Whether it be mathematics or god or philosophy. These branches of knowledge were elaborated upon and expanded in an attempt t use them to explain everything else yet who is to say that is possible at all. Perhaps the right way would be to allow an infinite amount of possible pictures of reality, all serving their own functions or beauty.
Why does a mahcine know better than the human eye? They simply know different things and examine reality in different ways and from different perspectives.

I agree.
Only those who serve as soldiers, or help our cause as scientists should vote.

The majority of scientists are leftist, though not necessarily liberal.

Did you read children's historical fiction when you were younger, either on your own or as part of a school assignment? Did you have any favorite books? Do you think reading these books helped spark an interest in the real historical events?

What do you think are the disadvantages and benefits of adapting history for children's books? Is it a useful way to introduce a historical event or period to children?

How do you think historical fiction for children changed over the last few decades? What do you think about the rise in historical fiction fantasy--books which combine historical events (usually in the form of Alternate History) with magic and other fantastical elements?

Check out the "We Were There" series from the 50s and 60s. They did a pretty good job of inserting child viewpoint characters into historical events to get kids interested in history.

Somewhat related, but I had to read a ton of children's novels set in WWII for a class last year and it was interesting to see the distinct differences between the books written by authors from Europe and authors from North America.

Aside from the most obvious difference--North American authors tend to write books that take place on the North American homefront--when it came to books that did take place in Europe, European authors were more apt to write books that contained what American authors would have considered too dark, gritty, or 'adult' for books aimed at children. Graphic descriptions of blood and death and dead bodies, mentions or even descriptions of rape, descriptions of ordinary people doing horrible things, etc, essentially not shying away from the violence of the situation when compared to novels written by Americans set in the same locations or types of events, which might contain death or violence but described it in such a bland or 'safe' way ("The bullet whizzed through the air and hit its mark. He was dead" versus a European book which described someone being shot and seeing the blood spray out and seeing their brain matter and smelling shit in the air).

In many cases, the European authors either experienced the war themselves, had their parents live through it, or were related to people who lived through the horrors of the war in Europe when compared to the American authors, who either had no direct ties to the war or whose relatives did not experience it directly either.

Why have Russia and Germany never been able to form a close partnership?

The UK and France, put aside their differences despite a turbulent history.

If Russia and Germany formed a coalition they could rule the world.
