How was the Russian Empire between 1905 and 1914?

Coul've been better. The loss against Japan in the Russo-Japanese war caused a crisis that almost caused a revolution and was averted only by emergency concessions by the Tsar. Lots of internal unrest, problems with increased industrialization, pan-slavists throwing a shitfit in eastern Europe.
On the bright side, Russia was modernizing at a fairly rapid place, and was set to overtake Germany by around 1950. If there were no external stresses, it might have dealt with its problems and remained a great power, but instead it got drawn into a war with Germany that it was not equipped to handle.
All in all, 4/10, would not emigrate to.
Hopeless. Stolypin tried to save it, but there was simply irreconcilable differences between the interests of the Tsar, the aristocracy, the intelligentsia and the peasantry.
Not doing as bad as the Bolshevik propagandists would have you believe. Just consistently underestimated their opponents.

I never understood why Bolshevik propaganda is directed against the Russian Empire, and people eat it up, when the October Revolution was directed against the Provisional Government composed of adversaries of the tsarist autocracy.
Lenin's rival wasn't Nicholas II, it was Kerensky.

Shit like any other time period for the average Russian. Oligarchs who were party functionaries a couple of decades ago were noblemen before that.
