Whats the point of using the unity botnet when you can make gnome look exactly like it?

What's the point of using a shit """"OS"""" when you can make Windows look exactly like it?
>>
Better performance

Unity runs better under the same hardware.

Gnome doesn't have Appmenus in titlebar.
Gnome's panel bar is basically useless.

Enjoy less vertical space

Let me explain: The problem with single core performance is getting high clocks and good ipc without making any miscalculations, right? So what if cpus could switch to a "single core mode", where all physical cores do exactly the same thing, but at a much higher clock. Mistakes could easily be spotted and corrected. Does anybody have information about how error rates increase with higher clock speeds without increasing the voltage?
Am I a total retard here? (if so, please explain why)

>>
>>55045375
>i dont know what is the instruction pipeline
single core cpus already execute multiple instructions per clock
also leave the booze
>>
>>55045375
>doing the exact same thing but at a higher clock
I hope you aren't a CS student because this is literally fourth week knowledge. Look into how a CPU executes instructions (really simple if you stay at the abstraction level you are currently speaking at)

And no, you don't seem like a retard.
>>
>>55045375
Processor core redundancy is already a thing in highly mission/safety critical systems. What you're asking for is literally multithreading.

Okay, assholes. You've been throwing the term "Botnet" around way too much, and you have no idea what it means.

Let's fucking define what the term actually means, using clear language. No glossed-over bullshit like "controlled by Microsoft", because that's too vague to mean anything.

Here is my take on it:

A Botnet is when a someone can, in a central manner, have direct (or some other more-limited form of control) over people's computer. And they can, at any time, tell those machines what to do, such as initiating a DDoSing, bitcoin mining, or sending spam emails. All without the user's consent.

I would not consider something like Windows Update or Chrome occasionally polling for updates a Botnet. Because in that vein of logic, EverNote polling their servers for new Notes to synchronize would be a fucking Botnet.

But I would extend the definition to more-grey areas such as the example of uTorrent, which have (or used to have?) which take up your CPU cycles for bitcoin mining. This is not at all what a user would expect from a Torrent application, and users get absolutely no benefit out of it.

So, Botnet thread.
Let's talk about some programs people commonly accuse of being one, and why or why they may meet that definition.

It's a meme you dip!

Hello DOG?!
>>
>>55045288
Except it's a meme that less-technical users will believe.

People in real life have started asking me about Windows 10 and Chrome being botnets now, and the idea is so ingrained with them that I can't reason them out of it.
>>
>>55045306
> People in real life
You seem to think people on /g/ are more technical savvy. Nobody gives a shit about anything, and the amount of fizzbuzz thread should have gave you a hint.

4cheng as an imageboard is just meme central, with some flavors given by the board type. I made peace with it.

Need help /g/

I recently replaced the case on my PC. Since then, my computer will not boot into Windows 10 with a gpu installed. I've tried a GTX 670 and an R9 270. With either of them installed, it posts and starts to load Windows, then freezes (pic related) spinny thing stops spinning...

I thought it might just have been my GPU but the exact same thing would not happen to both of them.

My specs:
i5 3570k (taken off overclock)
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
8GB Kingtston Hyper X Fury
Super Flower Leadex Gold 650w

What the fuck am I gonna do? Any suggestions? I've re-flashed the bios, refreshed Windows. I've used that thing that totally removes AMD and Nvidia drivers. I've put the GPUs in both PCIe slots.

Im fuckin crying.

Hey /g/, I built Clover from sauce for some guy on leddit, but you can have it too.

I can assure you I have made no modifications other than building it from git. But then again who trusts a person on 4chan?

No thanks. I can compile software myself. Why wpuld I need to anyway? The Clover apk is available on f-droid and there's no source code modifications that would require me to compile it myself.

Is it even possible, that those processes writing a few mb/s drain whole hdd'swriting capability? Good ol' l502x here
8 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>55044600
Yes because they are all from different sectors. If it were a straight single large file transfer you'd see 10x that speed, but with all different programs all reading/writing multiple smaller files your speeds will be much reduced. Hence your 100% disk usage at only ~7MB/s
>>
It doesn't show the disk activity for all the data being transferred to Microsoft.
>>
>>55044600
Fragmented writes, the drive writes a little bit, then it has to jump to a totally different part of the disk which takes time and write a little more.

This is much slower and less efficient than a sequential write.
