1: Any of you use a sound card? Do you notice a difference between the sound card and the on-board motherboard audio?
2: My soundblaster Z has two red LEDs on the board. If i just clip them will it affect the circuit and create a disturbance in other parts of the board? Would soldering in white LEDs be a good idea?
These are the LEDs in question. They are very red and very bright.
the msi krait gayman board that i have doesn't have pcie slots at the bottom of the board, which means this sound card will have to go in between my two gpus which are in sli and it might look a bit shit.
So if there is no real benefit to having this sound card in my system i might as well just sell it.

>1: Any of you use a sound card? Do you notice a difference between the sound card and the on-board motherboard audio?
no, sound card are useful only if you have +300 ohm headphone for a good amp and if you want more native feature like eq etc, the rest is pure placebo.

It's the only language worth learning.
C is pure.
Be sure not to learn any other languages after C or you'll ruin your purity.
Remember that everything that can be coded on a computer in any programming language can be done faster in C, and you'll learn how computers REALLY work.

Nice blog. How do I subscribe?
lol you think you're a special snowflake for ricing your phone or some shit? You realize that's a completely banal way to use technology, right? You're just as bad as any phone addict ditz who browses facebook all day and can't figure out how to get the second clock off of their homescreen or a solitaire mom.
Apple's biggest new product launch isn't going to be the apple car, but rather a home robotics platform. It will start at around $1000 and be wheeled. It will greet you at the door, act as a security device, interact with apple TV and other devices, and be open to app development.
Just a heads up.
Are you hyped for the iBot?

Lithium Ion batteries. The "Car" people they hired are working on it. It will be open for app development.
Like it can play hide and seek, dance to music etc.
What do you think about this /g/? Is 5400 a better option if I plan on using it for storage mostly (movies/music/documents etc.) My 7200 3tb seagate is quite noisy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4Faau_r7Rs
With the insane platter densities we have now it doesn't really matter. Opt for the lower rpm so it's quieter and saves power. If speed is what you're after consider an ssd. 7200rpm is depreciated.
>>55048095
I really regret buying those 7200rpm drives. One WD went RMA because of ridiculous noise and vibrations that almost rattled my case, the seagate is just noisy by default, but would probably make a good system drive.
Wonder if I could sell that seagate on ebay and get something else. Any 5400 that are good right now?
5400rpm does not suffer from rotational velocidensity so much as more rpm drive so your file will degrade at slower rate. Although I still recommend to underclock your HDD or switch to SSD.
I think I have troubles with my hard drives.
Everytime I boot my PC, I've had this "have to check for consistency" message, saying that one of my hard drive was fucked up, but everytime it tried to check the disk, the scan failed and Windows booted normally.
I didn't think it held any importance until I realized that everytime I booted a 3D game, my screen turns off, I hear a Windows error pop-up sound, and then I have to manually restart my PC because there's nothing else happening (the sound does go on for a few seconds, before stopping completely).
I tried to see if it was a voltage problem on my GPU or if my power supply was having failures, but after tweaking my system for it to consume less power, my PC still crashed on 3D games. The thing that weirded me out is that iso 2D games like Age of Empires, or Stronghold, don't crash. Same for 2D sidescrollers.
So I went on doing Disk Health scans with UBCD, and then I noticed that my disks looked pretty fucked.
So I'm asking you /g/, is there a possibility that those problems can cause such things ? The screen turning off and the hard reboot ?
Sorry for the image quality, I didn't know any other way to take a screenshot in the UBCD tool.
And here's the secondary hard drive

yet another excellent innovation
Hello /g
I am a total programming novice but I've had an idea I want to develop.
I want to develop software that uses the live footage from a GoPro to auto-track the person it's filming, pretty much the same that a Hexo Drone does (other drones do this too, just not with a GoPro). So what I need is a program that can piggyback GoPro's software (which is used to transmit footage from the GoPro to your phone in real time) and use this live footage to auto-track the filming subject.
From what I understand I'll need to educate myself on the following software categories:
iOS/Android apps - to understand how I can use/incorporate GoPro's phone software into my product
Video recognition/auto-tracking software - for the reasons stated above
Fortunately I don't need any of the self-flying capabilities of the Hexo drone as mine is a terrestrial drone (r/c car type).
As you can tell I have no knowledge in this field, so I'd appreciate any pointers in where to start, what programming languages to look at, what software/code already exists and whether its open-source or proprietary etc. Worst-case scenario I'll hire someone to do it, but I've wanted to get into programming for a while so this is a good chance.

Does anyone else find that iPhones hog a ton of bandwidth?
My internet is kinda slow. Like 750 kb/s max on torrents, but they're installing fiber on my road so it'll be a lot faster soon. It's good enough for what I do now though.
But whenever any of my family members come to visit (they all have iPhones) my internet just gets devastated. Even if there's only one.
I have an HTC One and that barely uses any even if I'm streaming a video or some music, and I'm still able to play a game or download something on my computer at the same time.
Does anyone else experience this?
>>55047364
I have never experienced the troubles you describe.
You haven't either because you've never even handled an iPhone.
Probably because of the automatic iCloud sync

Why does Linux Mint exist?
It should be an Ubuntu spin called Cinnaubuntu or something. Does the Mint team actually modify anything?
>>55047359
Well the Mint devs did create their own Mint-specific software. Namely the menu thingy.
Most distros don't do that though.
>>55047359
Yes.
>>55047359
>Does the Mint team actually modify anything?
Yeah, they cause a bunch of package name conflicts and take a lot longer to push out updates causing security issues.
