Will you try it?
Or is no gui installer actually a dealbreaker for some?

How is Patrick Volkerding not dead yet? Didn't he cough up a lung?
Nope. Arch is just fine.

Arch > Slackware
Sorry grandpa
My reasoning is one machine, one OS. Rebooting just to do a task is a waste of time.
This is why I run Windows these days, even though I'd rather be running OpenBSD. I can play muh games, and I can ssh into muh workstation to do muh develops.
On Linux/BSD, I can do development work (cuz command line), and newer desktop environments are shiny enough to not mind using as a desktop. Only problem is no games. And don't tell me Linux has over 2000 games on Steam. It does, but I'd lose over 230 of the games I actually want to play on Steam if I switched to Linux.
Stop dual-booting.
>people are doing something i don't
>hurr durr stop it
>>55042162
I stopped dual-booting in 2008 because at that time I realised I was never playing any games anymore anyway and that I had become a lot more proficient in Linux than I ever was on a Windows system.

What do you mean? I'm able to read the book.
>>55041876
I think he was referencing the fact that you cannot distribute the book to anyone else, but if that's not your intention, then I guess you did find a loophole. I'm sure they would start to become curious if every book you purchased was returned though. Topping that, why not just torrent your books anyway?
Or as it is now, NetBSD/Minix.
I would if it had support for my hardware
I checked it out in a vm, but quickly nope'd the fuck out of there after I realized THE X SERVER WAS BROKEN (and it was a known issue... in a stable release).

Is the MINIX kernel or userland code worth looking at?
Or is OpenBSD's kernel simple and clean and easy to understand for a nub as well?

What went so wrong?
Back in 2007, green was the standard color for motherboards and we didn't have these shells for random components with cringing designs that appeal to gamers.
>>55041493
>green was the standard color for motherboards
It still is, look inside prebuilts.
>>55041493
wow that motherboard looks cool as fuck what's it called?
>>55041493
After 8 years of research, I've come up with a great way of getting a well performing pc without having it look like a fucking lightshow for 12 year olds:
Have a non-glass Side panel and put it on your case. I know this might be hard to comprehend, so I'll explain:
Process:
1. Get a case with a non-translucent (no seey throughy) side panel
2. Put the side panel on that case (there's manuals and probably youtube instructions for when you don't know how this works
3. done
Explanation: The Side panel will block visible light from inside the case (i.e. the motherboard) towards your eyes. This leads to you, instead of seeing the gaudy motherboard, seeing the side panel instead. You can also color that side panel in a professionally boring gray or a sad brown if you want to.
