Going to need a laptop for my courses. Any /g/ approved Windows laptops or does Windows automatically disqualify it?
Needs Windows to be able to handle Word and Photoshop. Preferably 1080p display. Gaming doesn't matter.
Get a MacBook Pro.

Get a Mac
I got a Lenovo Edge 2.
Has anyone here taking the RHSCA exam? I assume that the workstations you work on for the test is a vm itself and therefore wont need to do much, if any, KVM tasks. Is that a safe assumption. I dont care much for KVM to begin with since VMWare has the vm game on lock, and a lot of infrastructure can be found on the cloud too, from my experience any way,
I've gone through the RHCSA book, and now just going back on some of the things I'm a little weak on, such as selinux, and especially KVM since I skipped that chapter as I didn't have a dedicated machine at the time for it. I don't feel like spending too much time on that for the reasons above - but I understand that I should know* it. Thoughts?
>>55158250
cosidering KVM is a Red Hat product and you're taking a Red Hat test...
>>55158291
That really doesn't answer the question. If the workstations are VM's, which I would imagine they are since I doubt these locations will constantly setup a new workstation because someone killed the system, and the fact that you cant VM from a VM, my question is worth asking since it may relieve me of some of the workload and focus on other things that are not dependent on whether the system is virtual or not
>>55158331
And the reason I ask is because I've seen often people mention that vm stuff was not on the exam. And I've yet to come across a comment on any forum that talks about vm's, even without breaking the nda
What's happening quicker: Hard drive capacity increasing or peoples data requirements increasing?
Personal data requirements are only going down because everything is moving into vendor clouds.
Local storage keeps getting faster but with a fraction of the capacity of old-school disks.
For me, there was a gap between the Taiwan Tsunami and today where my needs/wants for storage capacity were completely outpacing the capacity that I was willing to pay for.
Today an 8TB can be had for $250 or lower. I have a lot of media, and even if I went on a spree and had 3GB-10GB copies of every movie that I could conceivably want in the next 5 years and everything before then, TV shows, anime, concerts, music, I think all I would want is about ~25TB(and a mirror or RAID redundancy component to that, so let's say 50TB), which is suddenly affordable and doesn't require too many pieces today now that the HDD manufacturers are scurred.
And that's before about 4 years of shrinks will occur to the 3d NAND SSD marketplace.
Capacity is on it's way up right now, at a good clip outpacing most needs, as long as you're not stupid and avoiding RAWs/Blu Ray rips.
Start getting backups and shit now though, because the RIAA/MPAA and other fucks are working hard on locking down the internet, killing the Pirate Bay and other places. I'm having issues getting Usenet copies of things from 2014-2016.
Windows 10 = botnet.

What's wrong with blu ray version of a movie?

Why would anyone still use flash in the year 2016?
>>55158006
Camwhore sites. News websites.
I think most network TV sites still require it for watching videos in a browser.
Backwards compatibility with old flash games and applications.
What makes multiple GPUs in a system different from multiple CPUs? Why is it that multiple core CPUs are now standard, but single GPUs are still preferred over multiple GPUs(SLI, crossFire)?
>>55157746
The increase in performance is moderate at best and the returns diminish quickly with the addition of more units
In a multi core cpu, the cores are designed to work together so the performance boost is much more noticeable.
a GPU is just a processor with a effectively thousands of CPUs on the die that perform low intensive calculations.
>>55157746
Wouldn't the middle GPUs pretty much burn up in this setup…

If you disable Javascript too, your UI responsiveness and battery life will triple.

But how else will I order pizza online?
I'm one of those shitty MS employees. Ask me anything or tell me why all of our products suck.
>>>/v/ would be much more interested in knowing.

I'm a PC gamer though and all those plebes are probably console playing queers.

All gaming belongs on >>>/v/.
Is CLion the only good C/C++ IDE?
Visual Studio is better.
>>55157488
No. It's hard to beat Visual Studio, especially for debugging.
>>55157609
I quite like Qt Creator for debugging. At least on Linux. Not used it on Windows.
So I want to watch 4K movies on my TV and PC, what do I do? Seriously I've been browsing the internet all day and I can't find any good answers.
I need a Blu Ray player that can play 4K (because not all of them support it I think?) that I can connect to my PC and TV (or using some sort of workaround) what device do I need? I know I also need a 4K pc screen and TV. I'm thinking of just purchasing a 2K PC monitor so I can game on it too and then a 4K TV.
And when I buy Blu Ray movies, is there some sort of weird DRM on it, or is it just standard files that I can play with VLC?
Sorry if this is the wrong board.
Go to Geek Squad and ask them.
You'll need a 4k Bluray cd drive.. not sure if those even exist...
then you'll need a media player that can decrypt the DRM.. open source ones like vlc won't work with all the proper menus
then you'll need an hdmi 2.0+ monitor to output the damn signal
There is no software that can play 4k Blurays atm and it doesn't likely to be in near future, because Sony doesn't want PCs to play them. It also won't be cracked in near future because of the mandatory blackbox hardware DRM. Your only option is to buy a stand alone bluray player or wait for Xbox One S/Scorpio/Playstation Neo, they will have 4k bluray movie playing capability.

explain yourselves.
Because I use PHP

>> There are actually (((((webdevelopers)))) who don't use Flask for websites
Exactly, no one uses it because it's bad
PHP and JS are used by professionals
Look at all the top sites built using flask, there are none that are good
While djanjo was used by instagram. And PHP is used by every other major site
Is there any advantage for those size factored cases?
I'm planning on building my PC soon, but anyone I know who built one seem to prefer full tower.
Full tower is best, but only if you get this one.

Nah, planned on getting this one m8
What's the best way to get my money back?
Bought this g700s mouse off some dude. didn't realize it was some poo in loo pajeet faggot.
Sent me item and it wasn't complete. didn't have the charging cable.
I told him it was missing and now mailed some piece of shit regular micro USB cable. one that probably wouldn't even hold in place since it would just be hanging pretty loosely.
but yeah what's the best way to get my money back? I've never had a problem with an eBay purchase before.
am I expected to mail the item back too because that would be bullshit and put me out of pocket for postage on top of it.
Ask >>>/v/.
>>55157387
just leave neutral feedback and buy your own 1337 USB cable
>>55157397
buying the proper cable (with the fat connector head so it isn't loose) and rechargeable battery will negate any savings I would have made for buying it used
