Malware on the computer can control fan speeds. Fan speeds oscillate and a microphone captures the sound. Nothing groundbreaking.
Also,
>not knowing arxiv
Dunce
This is fucking stupid
>requires a microphone to work
>implying the microphone itself can't get 200% more incriminating shit
This is like saying a shower can steal your nudes because there can be a camera hidden in the bathroom somewhere.
Does /g/ use any microphones? Which is the best?

I'm currently running xubuntu on my laptop but my college course is requiring that I use FL studio (a windows/mac program only) to make music.
I've tried using Wine and I successfully managed to install the program but I can't activate my license key (it's a .reg file) and therefore it's gonna remain a trial version which I can't have. What should I do?
Is there anyway I can install windows from xubuntu?

>install windows from ubuntu
Ya dummy, ya gotta run it on the virtual machine ya dingus
Like this hunk said
>>55299837
You also could probably edit the registry of wine according to the .reg file, I just have no idea how would you do that
Reminder: ignore all AMDrone / NVidiot threads until tomorrow when the NDA lifts and we get all the benchmarks.
This. Official drivers aren't out yet, and we could just be seeing lies

Why can't AMD ever just win for once, lads? Why is everything they release a complete fucking disaster? Are we doomed to pay the Nvidia tax forever?
>>55299673
Because Nvidia and Intel are much bigger companies with much more money. Of course their products are going to be better. Get a fucking job or deal with AMD's shitty products.
Honestly if you have a card that's as good as or better than the 480 at this point then you don't NEED to get a new GPU.
If you don't have a card or yours isn't as good then you don't NEED to get anything other than an RX 480.
Basicall there is no reason to buy Nvidia cards anymore.
>>55299673
>not even out yet

>/g/ shits on it

>still kept the price
>no one ever mentions the card again
Everytime. The same happened with the 1080 series because no one on /g/ can ever deal with the facts and everyone just wants to shitpost
Sup /g/, about to upgrade from my S6 edge, what should I get? I'm on T-Mobile and the only notable considerations are the G5, S7, and the HTC 10. They're all pretty locked down but it looks like the HTC 10 has the best promise for developer support as it already has an AOSP ROM booting and functioning. The S7 has a Qualcomm chipset but the bootloader's is locked on it preventing much development. Should I get the HTC with the hope that a daily-able AOSP becomes available or get the S7 for the better camera and higher ppi?
>inb4 samshit
I'm starting to lean towards the HTC 10, the S7 doesn't even have USB Type-C and will probably stay locked down.
Get HTC 10

Hi /g/,
I'm finally trying to build a very basic computer, as I've been playing on a ASUS X551MAV laptop for three years, but have been a poorfag. Will around $300 be a good amount to spend on a decent tower?

What kind of workloads are you planning using the computer for?
For gaming? No.
For anything? No.
>>55299447
Not very demanding games,
Cs:go, Skyrim, payday, maybe rust.
I work most of the time so I just want something I can kick back and enjoy on. I'm sick of getting 30 fps
Skype alternative called Ring
pro
>not developed by 4chan
>chat works
>works on windows,android,linux,OSX
cons
>video, and audio calls only work in lan
>no ios so you apple fag contacts cannot use it
is this the closest Skype alternative?
>>55299320
Wtf, why not Tox?
>Chat works
>Audio works
>Video works
>Even outside the fucking LAN
>>55299341
can i multi device on it,and i thought only one faggot was working on audio shit
It's not that Skype is bad software, it's that the normed we want to chat with are content with Skype, and don't want to switch. Also pic related.
/g/ What do you think of android gaming?
I know you guys play a few dumb games like maybe Hearthstone, Pokemon TCGO, maybe Summoner's War, but do you think at the rout we are going that at some point we will be completely mobile like Japan is with their market? I heard that the PSvita is more popular there than America. Not asking as a /v/ question but asking as a tech question.
I still feel like this belongs in /v/
Also it's okay but we could use more modern FPS with good graphics, phones like the S7 have a fuckload of gpu power.
I dont play mobile games and I feel anything outside xbox, ps and pc are for kids and you should feel bad.
>>55299087
almost every game I play on my tablet it tries to melt it.
Playing hearthstone will cause the back to burn my hands/legs, depending on if I'm in the bathroom
What kind of trickery do others to get more time out of one charge?

What's the main difference between Gnome and KDE. And for what are they used
>>55295894

Do some basic research before asking questions. /g/ is not tech support.
>>55298934
>GNOME
Eye candy, no functionality. Facebook Machine. Poorfag hardware friendly
>KDE
Looks boring but polished, tons of functionality. Not poorfag hardware friendly
>>55298934
gnome is crap and uses too much system resources, while kde is prettier crap that uses even more.
KDE is used to install a nice suite of programs you can use with a lightweight window manager, while gnome is used by retards.
Why can't AMD make proper drivers? Why do they suffer from such severe overhead?
They only have one architecture to optimise for, while Nvidia is still releasing driver up updates for old shit like gtx260 and doesn't suffer from the same issue.
>>55298782
>posting a two year old screengrab
AMD have made significant progress on that front since then, and any newer Digital Foundry comparison will tell you that. Nice try though, shillfriend. :^)
>>55298782
>Why can't AMD make proper drivers?
Much smaller team of people working on the drivers.
As for why, I don't know.
>>55298782
>Nvidia is still releasing driver up updates for old shit like gtx260
No they're not, you retard. Nvidia only perform optimizations and updates for their very latest architecture. Even Maxwell is dropped now. Bundling old drivers together with the new ones for their old cards is why their driver download is so fucking huge now, but it's worth it for them as gullible retards like you think you're still getting "updates" for your ancient card, when in reality you're just installing the same driver over and over again.
t. GTX 780 owner
Forget about the underperforming RX 480 for a moment.
Who would you like to see enter the external GPU market and make **original** GPU core designs for the PC market other than Nvidia and AMD?
Would you welcome Intel back to the external GPU market if they made full sized versions of their Iris Pro line?
Thinly veiled nvidiot thread aside, I wouldn't mind a 3rd party.
>>55298722
Qualcomm would be a good competitor
>>55298722
>welcome Intel back
I don't recall them ever making dedicated graphics cards before. Anyway, I doubt there are many companies willing to venture into that market. There's probably easier money out there.
