Did Ian kill himself because Debian turned into such shit?
>>55308868
Probably killed himself because he tweeted the word "nigger" while drunk and then realized that that shit don't fly in this modern day.
Basically, he didn't have the guts to go after the CIA and MIT niggers that would have stolen his job for speaking his mind.
>>55308868
He killed himself because he was using Linux.
what a loaded question i've never seen a loaded question in my entire life on 4chan
What is your favorite technology?
Mine is formats.
>png
>uncompressed
if your favorite technology is formats, you should learn the difference between lossy compression and lossless compression. neither of these are the same thing as "uncompressed"

Delivery expected this Friday..
So....fucking...excited. I preordered this fuckin thing in January.
what's your plan for it?

explain why you even got this, OP. only reasonable reason is for dev purposes
You fucked up. Vive is better.
ok guys, I just had a vague idea.
So money it's just a trade token, right?
money isn't real.
So what will happen if someone developed an application to trade real things or services using some imaginary monopoly data inside the application.
But, instead of some bank or jews scheme making new monopology money, actually people get free monopoly money because of their services, because it's just an imaginary number inside the application.
Or something like a p2p bank or some other crowfunded way to make money.
Or the more you help other people, the more your ranking level goes and after a while you can generate money.
dunno, some ideas.

Comcast has been charging me $10/month to rent a modem so I decided to buy a ARRIS SURFboard SB6141. While I'm at it, should I upgrade my wireless router? Currently I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 that I bought in 2008, and it's worked fine for me. Do I need to upgrade or not?
>>55308471
That thing is a piece of shit but if it works fine for you I don't understand why you would upgrade it.
>>55308569
It works fine in the house but I'd like to have a stronger signal out in my garage that's ~50 feet away from the router.
>>55308630
Buy a cheap access point and run Cat5 out to it.
Will an 8x PCIE 3.0 slot bottleneck my 980ti?
Horribly. Expect -75% performance.
>>55308405
No.
You'd need pcie 3.0 2x for a noticeable bottleneck, but it'll start at pcie 4.0
>>55308460
Do you think its worth it to return my current heatsink (which is why i can't use my 16x slot) to use the 16x slot?

I water cooled my last 980ti and now I can't go back to air cooling my GPU. please red pill me on why gaming above 65c with slight fan noise isn't so bad.
>>55308326
>above 65 degrees
Use a custom fan curve. My gtx680 windforce doesn't even get to 60 degrees when it's blowing at 45% and I can't hear it because it's almost 1m from where I sit.
It's not ok at all. Why do you think the best GPU of the past generation was exclusively available with water cooling?
I seriously hope Nvidia takes note and makes the change with the 1080Ti.

I am so fucking sick of ISPs in America, /g/.
The internet in my hometown (suburban southern California) has been getting progressively worse, and now my package manager barely crawls along at 500 B/s (I'm not forgetting a letter, it's BYTES). Comcast isn't the only offender; AT&T UVerse, our previous ISP, is also very bad, averaging at 500 kB/s.
I want you guys to share your ways of fighting them, if possible, whether this be contacting lawmakers or supporting local ISPs.
For those of you who don't know, ISPs are just about the most corrupt companies out there. They make deals with each other to monopolize certain regions, with about a third of Americans only being able to choose from one ISP. They also lobby for laws that support their crooked practices. That is, they do all that they can to eliminate competition. As a result, they are able to operate on dated architecture with no incentive to lay down new fibers. To support the growing population, they overcharge for low data rates and throttle those who use too much data.

http://videocardz.com/61512/first-radeon-rx-480-gaming-benchmarks-hit-the-web
>the Radeon RX 480 is said to cause lots of artifacts with a mere 5% overclock. A 7% overclock will cause the system to freeze entirely. This means that a average overclock of 1350 MHz is possible with the Radeon RX 480 while anything near the 1400 MHz will crash the card. It could be due to thermal instability due to the cheaper cooler design which we had discussed here

Is it possible to anonymize a server's location by using a vpn? Or could traffic analysis based on the VPN's traffic be used to locate the server?
If someone wanted to host a server anonymously, what would be the best way to do so? TOR is compromised afaik, so I have ruled that out.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, I am a programmer and database architect and I dont know shit abt networking and IP.
I think it goes like this;
Your connection to the VPN server would be encrypted.
The VPNs connection to the site is encrypted. There is no way to know it is you using that site through the VPN. but the sites IP would not be hidden from anyone on the other side of the VPN.
>>55308151
Use tor to buy vps with bitcoins. Then install webserver with tor on it.
Yep your server might be compromised due to traffic analysis. But if you will be careful enough it wont compromise you.
>Is it possible to anonymize a server's location by using a vpn?
No. Vpn is a direct encrypted connection between 2 hosts. You could just sniff its traffic and see huge amount of encrypted data being sent to your ip address.
>>55308635
Thanks. Can you expand on how tor could be used to host anonymously with some immunity to traffic analysis? Do I need to have secure nodes? Couldnt a users nodes still be compromised?
Just picked up a XFX RX 480, they are live on Amazon with prime.

The only reason that OSX devices don't get hacked is because the people hacking wouldn't get anything out of hacking it.
It is not because OSX devices are more secure or anything like that.
No incentive for the hackers = no reason to hack it.
Same semi-applies to iDevices, though the lack of hacks on them is due to the lack of access that a hacker would gain. (I can't construct a sentence)
