Hey /g I'm trying to design a bike generator so I can charge my phone for Pokemon go, originally I was just going to use a diode to connect the battery and generator but then I started thinking about overcharge and knowing how much power I have. I was wondering if I could use a relay as a diode and I searched around but a lot of places say it's bad because of battery arcing however since the relay is never between the battery terminals should I be ok using it in place of a diode? My thinking is I'll have several different zener diodes and leds to make a standard power gauge and the highest resistance diode will be connected to the relay so at full battery it cuts off the the generator from the battery, my other concern is at max power the relay will be constantly switching, will it be ok long term?

wouldnt it be better to get one of those RC car batteries, ducktap it to the pike buy parts to make a converter/adater for a usb hub, and put an enclosure around all that?
>>
>>55608350
I'm sorta doing that, I'm using one of those batteries for those plastic cars kids ride in and I'm using a lighter port power inverter that has a standard wall socket and usb port

> charge my phone
> I started thinking about overcharge
If you were charging a battery by itself you'd have to worry about overcharging, but the phone already has that circuitry built into it. Give it 5v and it will charge the battery and stop when it's full. What you need is a 5v regulator to keep the voltage from going too high.

I've got it on a little old netbook, it's a pretty great use for that. I probably wouldn't use it for a daily use desktop or laptop, but for those machines that you rarely get on to accomplish basic tasks, it's a great fit. It's just a pretty simple DE and doesn't have a lot of software in it's repos.

That netbook only has 1GB of RAM and Solus with the Budgie desktop only uses ~300MB on boot. It's pretty, relatively lightweight, and has everything I needed. Pop it in a virtual machine and see what's what.

Is there a nicer API for developing GUIs for Windows/Linux/Mac than Qt?
It's comfy as fuck but you have to deploy (at least in Windows) your programs with dozens of enormous DLLs.
Any of you have programmed in it?

Who even searches for files on their own computer? Don't you have everything properly classified in themed folders? Aren't you using a naming convention you created to label all your stuff? Last time I had to look up for something on my computer was in the Windows ME time.

Looking for a self-hosted, integrated bug tracking + kanban solution.

Plot twist: not related to software development/IT. Just life tracking.

Bonus points if it integrates with paperless or Mayan or similar shit.

Example goal: "buy present for relative X" => create "ticket", assign a deadline, assign tags, assign an owner (me or my partner).

Other example: get cat to vet => Same as above but now: +follow-ups (work history, e.g. "appointment made") +attachments (e.g. scanned invoice)

I use a self-hosted integrated system called "brain" in combination with tracking system called "ear and mouth" to communicate with asynchronous remotely hosted systems
>>
>>55608248

Sounds pretty shitty from a reliability point of view.

Also, I'm not sure you understand the concept of synchronicity. Otherwise you wouldn't be communicating synchronously with your "asynchronous remotely hosted systems". Makes you sound like the kinda person who does all of their computation on the UI thread.

Why nickle and dime your money away on cheap chinkshit to save cash when you have to service and upgrade constantly? You could just as easily spend it on a quality Apple product.
