What professional experience do you have with Linux in general?
Have you tested all other distros and desktop combinations?
What defines best?
Have you installed Gentoo ?

DISCLAIMER: Will self destruct in 2 months.
New Nexus 7 tablet when? I need a new non-overpriced non-shit tablet soon.
God damn. I wish my 2012 Nexus 7 still worked. I dropped it once resulting in a single crack down the middle of the screen. The top half worked but the bottom half didn't. On top of that the battery also died. Oh well

>New Nexus 7 tablet
Tablets are over man.

I have a Galaxy S5 and it keeps bugging me to install this update. Should I do it or just keep ignoring it? I am very skeptical when it comes to software updates on all of my devices. Thanks.
>>55607097
I'm skeptical about updates too but really there is no reason to never upgrade android because every previous version is about 500 times worse than the newest.
Just do it you fucking faggot. Stop being such an insufferable pussy.

Heh
Can someone give their honest opinion on Windows 10?
shit
garbage
trash
>have rooted this piece of shit
>can't turn off the screen without the device going to sleep
I just want the fucking screen to be off while the device is functioning normally (GPS working, foreground app running, etc etc)
>>55606990
Use an operating system that gives the user control over the hardware, and not the other way around.
>>55606990
Use Black Screen Of Life.
Been using it with Pokemon GO successfully without Gyroscope on my device. Pretty neat desu

Is 2GB RAM enough for Android 6.0? I see other phones with 3GB or 4GB.
I recall 1GB RAM for KitKat wasn't enough...
>>55606942
>Is 2GB RAM enough for Android 6.0?
Yes, but you need a 64 bit CPU :^)
>>55606942
>2GB RAM enough for Android 6.0
no
Using it with 1gb. Works fine if you don't play gaymes.
So I installed Ubuntu Mate for shits and giggles. It's been a while since I've ran an Ubuntu derivative.
>Guest session enabled by default.
>Built in disk manager mounts disks with 777 permissions.
>Users on the system have super user privileges.
Ughh, what is this? Windows?
>>55606869
>not installing from the minimal/server iso and then installing MATE
But really, you're probably gonna like Debian better
>>55606869
>picks noob distro
>complains about being treated as a noob
I'm fairly certain the same things here would apply to an installation done via the Ubuntu minimal route.
Not sure if it automatically installs lightdm for you, but I know the recommended and suggested packages are overkill.
>come home one day
>see this
>turn it off
>every time I turn on my computer now I see this
T-thanks Microsoft...

And I let it sit there like that for a day before switching it off.

How do you feel about the government putting limits on encryption? It seems like every time they get shot down, they keep trying again a few months or a year later. I don't think they'll give up until they get what they want.
>The UK government has explicitly confirmed that a surveillance bill now making its way through the second chamber could be used to require a company to remove encryption. And even, in some circumstances, to force a comms service provider not to use end-to-end encryption to secure a future service they are developing. The details were revealed during debate of the Investigatory Powers Bill at a committee session in the House of Lords this week.

Here's another article:
>During a committee stage debate in the UK's House of Lords yesterday, the government revealed that the Investigatory Powers Bill will provide any Secretary of State with the ability to force communication service providers (CSPs) to remove or disable end-to-end encryption.
>Earl Howe, a minister of state for defence and deputy leader in the House of Lords, gave the first explicit admission that the new legislation would provide the British government with the ability to force CSPs to “develop and maintain a technical capability to remove encryption that has been applied to communications or data.”

This tbqh. The attack in Nice showed that more needs to be done to stop terrorism. If a few pedos get caught along the way, all the better. Literally the only people who have a problem with this are those who use encrypted communication to commit illegal activities.
What's stopping me from making my own internet browser?

Until then, do you know of any good ~$200USD phones?
