It was doomed from the start.

I know you guys aren't a tech support forum, but I'm pretty lost with this. Maybe this is stupid question, but I'm writing a program in Javascript and I'm stuck on this weird DOM issue.
So I know that you can input the value of a variable into an document element like so:
> document.getElementById("idhere").innerHTML = variable.value
My question is, is it at all possible to take the value from an existing document element and input it into a variable?
Before everybody asks why, I have a program that takes a value (points), assigns it to a variable, and then prints it to a element before it begins executing other functions that take points away. I need a way to refer back to the original point value.
>>55601592
Do you even understand whatdocument.getElementById("idhere").innerHTML = variable.valuedoes?
>>55602759
What an awesome response. This is why everyone loves g.
Ask a question that people either don't know the answer to or feel is beneath them, and get a shitty response. The typical answer is flying into an autistic rage about how /g/ is not a tech support forum, while failing to realize that asking questions are a normal part of any forum. Logically it follows that people are going to (on a technology forum) ask questions about technology. This is a convenient mechanism for the mentally retarded to dodge the questions they either don't know how to answer or feel are beneath them, while simultaneously allowing them to showcase their stuff on questions that they want to answer - typically leading to pathetic internet arguments.
That's right, everybody on /g/ was born knowing all of javascript. While the rest of us mere mortals use tools like codeacademy or going to school, certain babies just pop out of their mother's wombs already knowing everything about javascript and have a gigantic "/g/" birthmark on their forehead. It's so stupid that the rest of us mere mortals wouldn't understand something and ask for clarification.
To answer you question, I do know what..
>document.getElementById("idhere").innerHTML = variable.value
..does. I already explained it in my post. But course, instead of answering my question, you saw it as an opportunity to flex your tiny E-peen and nitpick.
Just for the record, in the this hours that have passed since I posted this question, I've already moved beyond it.
So thanks for showing your stuff, /g/. You never cease to amaze us.
>My question is, is it at all possible to take the value from an existing document element and input it into a variable?
yes, why wouldn't it be possible?
var pinkelephants = document.getElementById("idhere").innerHTML
Hey /g/ I've been having this issue lately of low download speeds, even on torrents that have a lot of seeds.
Not only that but when im downloading a torrent at a few kbps the internet speed in my other applications gets slow too youtube/twitch etc, do you know what the problem could be?
Here is my speed test http://www.speedtest.net/result/5481539182.png

Why is GNOME such a cancer?
I can't simply remove it because of it's fucking dependencies.
When I pacman -Rscn that shit it will remove Firefox, Wireshark, ePSXe and all other irrelevant shit.
Seriously, if GNOME isn't going to be your primary DE, don't plague your PC with it.
Anybody knows how to safely remove it btw?
>>55601428
What the fuck are you doing? Firefox, Wireshark and ePSXe depend on GTK, not Gnome.
>>55601449
I want to remove GNOME as i never use it and it's wasting my resources.
Yeah, but I can't remove GNOME only, I have to remove all other shit because of that.
>>55601468
No, seriously, what the fuck are you doing? What packages are you trying to uninstall?
Cars are technology, just like tablets/phones/laptops/raspberry pies inside them.
So, what do you use inside your car to track the engine stats and exceptions, navigate the road and play the music?
Do you have intelligent tracking systems based on RPi so you can track your car in case it's stolen?
Do you even record the road, so you won't get cucked by insurance company when someone crashes on you?

Do you have a smartwatch?
If yes, which one?
If not, would you buy one in the next time?
What do you think about smartwatches in general?
Yes i plan on buying one of the two upcoming watches from Google, probably the smaller one. I'm already looking at watch bands i could get. Just to try it out and wear it a few times, i might give it to someone else if i don't like it.
>>55601169
Apple Watch. I got it for fitness tracking after using fitshit for a year.
>>55601214
Was thinking about buying one of them aswell, at least if they're good.
A friend just bought a huawei watch, looks pretty nice. If google fails, I'll probably go for that one.
But I really hope that google doesnt suck with their watch.
In reality I just wanted to show /g/ this amazing photo but I thought I might as well turn this post into something (somewhat) productive.

Okay, so Sony support fucking sucks and I've tried everything I could find online already, but nothing worked. So, I'm asking here.
All the services of my phone (xperia) suddenly stopped and i got a message saying "error while encripting the information, please reset your phone" and when i tried to reset it even with hard reset the phone is not working. its just continuously flashing with SONY logo.
i've also tried to repair it through xperia pc companion and pc companion but at the time of final initialization its giving me the error..(sony update engine failure error 0x00000064 or 078)
>>55601119
Boot loop.
I'll give you the generalised info, because you haven't provided the model of the phone.
-As the phone begins booting up (Just after the sony/xperia logo appears) mash the volume up, or volume down button till you get to the menu screen.
-Select factory reset. If there is an option called 'wipe cache partition' do that first, then do factory reset
-If mashing the keys doesn't work, try instead holding the power button, as well as the volume up or volume down keys. The idea here is to get to that android menu to wipe the cache partition and factory reset.
If that fails, the phone might be fucked beyond repair. Or if you get it to a sony repair centre, they might be able to do something for you though I doubt it would be free.
If you hadn't removed your google account prior to booting the phone up, It might ask for that before finishing setup. If you put your right account in and it still wont let you in, don't panic. Google has a retarded 'security feature' which will lock you out of your phone for 72 hours. Come back in three days. There is no work around for this besides putting another ROM on the phone, and you don't sound even slightly competent with the intricacies of smartphones outside of Normie garbage.
>>55601413
It won't turn on anymore, I just get a green or red light.
I think it's really fucked this time, thanks though.
>>55601571

next time stay away from sony phones
I think we can all agree that Android phones are the only real designated phones.
Device manufacturers refuse to keep their devices up to date resulting in nightmarish fragmentation and unpatched vulnerabilities, Cheap build quality basically designed to fail.
I've learned my lesson. Buy nice or buy thrice.
The money i have wasted on poo droids over the past two years i could have just bought an iphone and been done with it.
No one cares what you've bought
Replaced my Lagxus 5 with a Nokia N9 and haven't looked back, since then I bought a few more

SSHDs are fucking DOA don't listen to get this guy. SSD + HDD is the only acceptable setup unless you have shittons of cash so you can go pure SSD.
