Is it still a good idea to learn Perl?
Python almost completely replaced all the use cases that perl ever had.
Just learn javascript.
>>55744051
Yeah. Also you should probably learn Lua, Haskell and Lisp while you're at it.
worthless fucking garbage
This shit has been broken for over a decade and what do they do instead of fix it? Jam more spyware into their garbage os. Great job pajeet
What appears to be the issue?
>>55743951

Hey, 10 minutes ago I asked for some help and got nothing. I want to start coding but literally cannot even open the programs I installed. I got Java and Atom. Whether these are good programs or not can also be discussed, but for now I cannot even find the shortcut to OPEN these programs. I need help desperately.
IN SHORT: Help, I can't open my coding programs cause I don't know shit about coding.
.java
run as administrator
>>55743922
compile them you fucking retard
>>55743938
what do you mean ".java"
where is that, is that a program file?
what the fuck microsoft, you could've at least designed it so it shows what operation it got stuck on
Had that screen for 12 hours. Started getting slow at 45%. Still did the upgrade
>>55743878
>actually falling for the free upgrade meme
just do a clean install through a usb.
>>55743878
This happened to me too. I closed the upgrade assistant and used the media creation tool instead. Worked perfectly the first time
All web browsers suck atm. Chrome/Chromium and Firefox eat up too much ram and resources, are just overall super inefficent/unstable, and have teams getting filled with more and more shitty developers who make bad decisions.
Yet at the same time "minimal browser" projects keep popping up only to get dropped in about a week of development time, often have really shitty rendering, and aren't as up to date on current web standards like Firefox and Chrome. What is there to do?
>inb4 get more ram
I don't care, and I have 8gb.
Microsoft Edge
>>55743842
>browsers use too much RAM!
>but I don't care enough to buy more RAM
Fucking idiot.
>>55743871
It's excusable for many things, but not web browsers. Which should be using minimal resources.
Also
>needing more than 8gb of ram on a desktop, ever
Why did HTTP become the be-all-end-all of content delivery on the web when it's original purpose is so far from what it's used for? Why do we keep layering more and more shit on top of it?
>>55743774
Because by design it's very easy to MITM for someone who has access to one any corrupt CA.
Same reason TCP/IP is such a hack
Because Gopher was a limited piece of shit and FTP was an even worse piece of shit that had hacks on top of hacks.
I like XFX because of their cooler designs, and the fact that if Nvidia hadn't dropped them like a bunch of douchebags, they'd be delivering us Nvidia cards too.

Never heard of iGame, not like that monster could fit in my shitty micro ATX case or anything.

kill yourself, reddit.
reference card releases are also "add in boards" fucking faggets
I often buy and resell games on eBay (ranging from Playstation to Wii to Xbox 360), and I usually buy them in bulk. Around 20% of the games I get, though, are subject to bad scratches and disc rot. Some are salvageable, most are not (and get binned).
I test all of the games to see if they're playable by checking if they can at least load up to the first level, and take pictures accordingly for proof. But sometimes, that's not enough. On one occasion, there was a buyer who bought a Wii game that was playing fine but eventually wasn't able to load the 2nd or 3rd world. I bought him a return label and I gave him a refund with no problems, but I'd like to prevent that from happening in the future.
How do you check for bad sectors and shit on discs? I could download ISO's off the web and do a checksum compare, but that's too much of a pain in the ass. I just want to pop a disc in a drive of my computer and check if there's any read errors, even if I have to temporarily copy the entire disc's contents to my HDD.
Is there a program for that? Especially for console discs?
Pic somewhat related; a significant portion of Xbox 360 games get this kind of rot for some reason...
>>55743673
>Selling games
Why? Why not collect them? It'd be really cool to play them with your future kid too. Checking disc is easy, thou. Get a full image of your disc and find an exact copy of that on the internet. Then compare them in md5sum or checksum or some other shit I don't remember the name of. File difference check or something.
I don't think you can with most modern console discs.
They are DRMd to the tits.
I could help you if you were dealing in a more legitimate business, like Free Software on disc (hell, even DVD-Video is easier), but video games are beyond the trouble.
>>55743673
You'll need to find a program that attempts to read the entire disc surface and verify file integrity. Im at work and on a phone so I cant help you
Should I buy this?
only do what your heart tells you (:

What is /g/ preferred method of installing a GNU/+Linux distro? I typically just do a PXE boot from a old desktop running Debian that has a active tftp server and dhcp server running with the files for the distro if provided.
>>55743528
Multiboot flash drive
Netinstaller on a USB drive. So easy.
>>55743528
>Reply to Thread No.55743528
Netinstaller from a USB. Fastest way to install a updated system.
Canacuck here, wondering if this build checks out, torn between 1070 and the 480, going to wait until custom pcb for 480 come out though. this includes canacuck tax, but holy fuck the prices though.
What do you have against the gigabyte motherboard?
>>55743533
I was looking into their ultra durable line, I want a motherboard that actually lasts long and has decent amount of features. I've had Asus motherboards but they all failed prematurely, plus i'd rather not support Asus since they gone down the gutter in terms of QC and support.
Are there any good chairs to sit at a desk in for tiny people? When your legs don't reach the floor and you have to really stretch your arms to use the arm rests it kinda distracts from whatever else you're doing
Does anyone on /g/ know any brands that have good, small chairs?
Use a recliner.
>>55743526
I have to work at a tall desk, I can't use a standard small chair or recliner sadly
>>55743510
>Are there any good chairs to sit at a desk in for tiny people?
Monkey rocker. Accept no substitutes.
Hello, I seek help /g/. I only have $500 to spend for a gaming PC, what do you recommend?
You can suggest used and older parts, it must include a wifi adapter or USB.
Also I have a shitty mATX Xion case, so yeah. Help me out!

That case ^^^
Gaming goes to >>>/v/
PCs going to logicalincrements.com
The sticky specifically says that this isn't the place for help.

Installing Gentoo.
