Just boot a GParted image and use that instead, baka desu senpai
I talk to Patrick Verner once in a while and for years Parted Magic has been something he did in his spare time. A little over a year ago, he lost his job and stated on the Parted Magic site that he would like to dedicate his full time to Parted Magic as a "job" if users could donate collectively at least $1,200 a month to the project for him to put food on the table and pay bills. A "salary" if you will.

People needs money to live, you know? If you don't like it, there are many other alternatives.

What are some of the most reliable brands /g/? I haven't bought a HDD in years so I have no idea. I just want a decent one around 1-2 terrabytes that'd last me like another 5 years without failing.
whats a failing hdd? how does it happen? Can u fix it?
>>55748562
There is no HDD brand that will last 5 years guaranteed. Your usage pattern can and does introduce massive variance.
Also how can one make sure he has all his files even if the hdd fails. External storage?

Is there any method of rooting a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A other than towelroot?
>towelroot always says Phone >not supported
My GS5 runs off of Android 5.1.1 and I got it from AT&T. Should I give up on rooting it or is there a method that's obtainable?
>I have tried Kingoroot as well >which as failed too.
did you try installing gentoo?
>>55748496
Not yet. I'll try that right now thanks fellow anon :)
>>55748496
I don't need to install a completely new Linux distro, I use Debian and I am happy with it, don't know what that has to do with rooting my GS5 :(

>not in stock
>i hate them
So just sitting here shitposting and waiting for Newegg to get it in and cancel the Amazon order.
First time doing this shit, wew. Who else knows that struggle?
>>55748349
Nah. I had been looking every day for a card for months, but after I missed the $225 1060 I decided I'm just waiting til Vega or 8gb 480 to go under $200.
>>55748403
Jesus, was that the MSRP for the "FE" edition?
I've got nothing to play DOOM on so I'm getting this due to a lack of better options plus poor planning. Fuck it
>>55748422
Nah, jewvidia wants $300. It was non reference plus a coupon code.
Didn't piss me off as bad as missing the $275 fury though. Such is life.
Everybody has been waiting so long to upgrade good deals are insta gone. So I return to waiting.
Hi guys!
I've been planning to build new rig jumping from GTX 770 to 1060. Im not sure if there is any point to upgrade also the processor which is i5 3570k.
What would you suggest?
Im aiming also for some VR with HTC later this year. I was considering GTX 1080 but for the moment it seems to be pretty pointless to have this much power.

Nope, but it completely hangs all io to disks. It was easier just to say "kernel panic" .__.
Hey /g/
I'm working in the Oilfields of Murica, and I want to move into I&E, IT, and Sysadmin for these guys because there's practically no one with the skills locally. Currently working as a a trainee for I&E.
There's a lot of Excel and Mysql crap these companies use for daily reports. And a quite a few systems with Windows Servers for Offices and Plants on VPN and such. But I still have no idea what is lucrative and useful to learn to get a good job working with the computers and devices these companies use.
Netsec? Sql? CompTIA? Windows server? Sysadmin?
What are useful skills that I can learn to get a path built to build a career?
Basically I'm looking for a path, there's so much literature and tutoring available online for practically every facet of the tech field. But a muffucka has no idea where to start?
didn't read, post more pics
Bumping with cuties
why the fuck do people think the sysadmin field is something you just get a few certs for, and you're suddenly qualified? even shit-tier help desk positions require a college education and experience. continue being a field nigger, system administration is not for you.
Putting together an amazing video for /g/ today, only one question
What is the font of the text for the 'Seal of the US President' ?
Any 3 possible choices would help too
pls
Fuck off, trumplet
/g/ isn't a statist board
Is there any way to safely remove the botnet from windows 10?
No I won't use a russian spyware to do it.
>>55748238
There is no bonet in Windows 10.
>No I won't use a russian spyware to do it.
Too bad, Microsoft will keep creeping in spyware updates for all supported Windows OS.
technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt577208(v=vs.85).aspx
Keep in mind that you cant remove all connections.
Hi /g/. Could you give me any suggestions for the retro 4chan theme I'm making?
stop
>>55748230
-ditch the post boxes and the fancy tabulation
-make it look like textboards/2ch
-add the left bar with links to all the boards
>>55748230
Make it catalog by default
Newb here
What linux distro should I install? I'll be honest I want something that "just werks" to begin with, but I've heard some negative commentary of Ubuntu; would there be a next-best option?
windows 10
>>55748215
>would there be a next-best option?
Yup, Gentoo
Linux Mint
>just werks
>you can still learn a lot about linoox
>interface not much different from winblows meaning not much of a learning curve
Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.
Is there any chink shit you literally can't stop buying?

What would be a good way of creating clickable tiles (think of any turn based game) with Java?
A tiles class of course but would it be proper to use a Shape instance variable for representing the actual tile and attaching a mouselistener?
You could give javafx a try and their animation feature. Easier to pickup than a fully fleshed out vector rendering API.

Spring and a grid of buttons :^)
