What are some awesome sites you were on years ago that are either dead or were taken down or bought?
>aim
>AOL
>Meebo
>yahoo (no it's not dead but I don't really know any one under 35 who uses it)

>Not running Loonix Mentos 18
I mean, you should probably kill yourself.
What for? I bet it's a glitchy piece of trash.
I still remember when 15.04 came out and I couldn't change my resolution on Mint MATE but Ubuntu MATE worked just fine
>Running Linux Mint
You should probably kill yourself. I mean holy shit why do people even use Mint in todays day and age?
>>55745467
As users of GNU+Linux, we have the freedom to use whichever distro we want, thus don't expect everyone to run the same distro. Be happy you're part of the better OS faction. And please, stop with the shitposting.
A couple of tricky questions:
>How should one manage vertex data in a WebGL program?
>Can XNA games be decompiled?
Would ask in /sqt/ but I haven't had any luck there.
1. Look for a good webgl tutorial
2. Probably
XNA is C#, so if the code isn't obfuscated, you can literally view the source code.
>>55745671
All I see is a bunch of XNB files though.
And I think I fucked up trying to get my version of Visual Community whatever to be XNA compatible.
What's the point of buying partially assembled or "barebone" computers ? The answer may sound obvious (modularity), but I think it also relies on a personal level of choices. What are yours and why ?
>>55745378
Back before ITX motherboards that fit regular desktop CPUs became common, barebones machines were the only way to get a full power machine that small.
>>55745431
Because ITX motherboards now contain all kind of parts that weren't there in the sold-in-kit computers era ?
>>55745492
Yep. Until ~2008 when LGA775 ITX boards started arriving, they were mostly aimed at low power media/web browsing machines, with mobile CPUs from Via or later Intel's Atom range, with integrated graphics, no PCIe slot (or AGP back when that existed).
At the same time, Shuttle were making barebones machines that could support a full Athlon XP/64, Pentium 4 etc, with space for a video card, half decent power supply and cooling, if you wanted you could turn one into a pretty neat gaming machine. Cost quite a lot though. See what they had in ~2004 http://www.shuttle.eu/_archive/older/en/xpc.htm
Hey guys, I'm going to buy new pc, can you help me to choose right rig pls? This picture is what I chose by myself
https://www.computeruniverse.ru/
getting RX480 with a low-end mid-range CPU might not be your best option. see bottom of the pic.
>>55745327
so what do you recommend? 1060 + better cpu?
>>55745351
I dont know. Just saying that AMD requires high end CPUs to fully utilize their cards.
Don't try to fall to the Colemak/Workman/Dvorak meme.
Related, typing speeds with good old QWERTY.
If you want to type English faster, use Plover.
>only 108WPM
you're not exactly making a strong case here
>>55745259
And you type 120+ with Dvorak?
>>55745330
I type 160+ with Dvorak, does that make you mad?
What does /g/ think of Huawei and its phones?
Do you consider them still a chink phone brand, or have they finally transcended that?
>>55745154
they are just spending a lot of money in marketing
still a chinese government company though, expect every product to be backdoored
>>55745305
to be fair everything is backdoored or has zero days
the chinese can do less damage to me than my government with their backdoor
I have one. Expected it to be cheap chink shit. It is.
What's your fastest mobile speed?
you're on wifi. what's the point of this?
>>55745153
To share WiFi speeds
>>55745216
i have wireless N, so insert whatever speed that's limited to, subtract ~10%, and that's what i would get.
>WYSIWYG babbies
laughing at people for being in a position you were in fewer than 5 years ago seems especially fagtastic. it's like you just learned how to tie your shoes this morning and you're already mocking people who can't.
if you're so enlightened, help people learn (La)TeX. otherwise, stop talking. eat some dicks if you need to.

HI, just so you know i am not asking this because I am racist, but just I am interested in this topic.
For some time right now, there has been many news of Chinese it companies leaking data to some shady Chinese IP addresses. US companies share the user data that they have to the NSA, but usually they will require you to make some actions in order to make this sharing possible, like making an account, accepting terms and agreements ans so on. Chinese companies on the other hand seem to be taking more information and they may not even require you to take some steps to give them permission to do so.
Am I a retard for thinking that Chinese IT companies are more insecure? Is there some real proof, or I am too autistic? Should I kill myself?
Also can you share some articles proving my point?
It's hard to tell. China never mentions data leaks. They only go on about the US attacking their infrastructure. I only know that the US infrastructure is a complete joke judging from the articles I've read.
https://www.techpowerup.com/224413/nvidia-accelerates-volta-to-may-2017
nvidia got scared of Vega and Polaris potential, rushes everything out up to Titan X. nVidia to finally address DX12/Vulkan async deficiency and then use HBM2 as targeted in their roadmap.
Early adaptors of Pascal eternally BTFO, gimpworks will be closer than expected.
AMD BTFO
Intel must be really scared of amd then huh it's about 4 generations ahead.

Kek
Hey, new-ish fag here.
Read about the 1080 Frame latency shit, so I took a sample.
Is this latency too high?
Doesn't look _that_ bad. Can you notice any stutter or audio problems ? did you try the new fixed drivers ?
>>55745059
2071 microsecounds max top kek
normal is 60-100 mircosec enjoy your microstuttering
>>55745059
>implying you will ever ever notice that in games lmao.
They seem worth it for the future proofing and portability, and I can run arch on it.
>>55745057 They are good shitposting machines. But pick wisely because not all models support booting loonix and only few can run windows.
>>55745057
I'm using my C720 rn
as >>55745121 said they are good for shitposting and casual browsing, just don't expect too much from them and you'll enjoy having one available
My work place makes people use thin clients like pic related, how triggered are you?
NEETS need not reply because you have no real world experience.
They have a purpose and fulfill their need.
You don't need a tower for most office tasks.
Fuck putting in USBs though
They're fine for cubicle rats and pencil pushers. But if a company forced me to use one of those as dev I'd resign at the spot.
They started doing this at Uni.
It gave me the shits first, but now I don't mind it.
The thing is the machines they are fed by are riced to the teeth.
Fuckloads of memory, tonnes of processor power, etc.
I compiled firefox in literally no time.
I thought GCC was broke until I realised that it worked, it was just super fast.
Ok fags, I have 300 bucks to buy the most recent laptop I can.
express card and drive caddy are mandatory.
a t430 was my first choice, but there is a dell latitude with 3gen i5, expresscard and everything...
thinkpad can get a better screen, but dell design is more polished, and is cheaper.
I don't give any fuck about keyboard, let's state this before you all flame me for chiclet keyboard.
now what?
Dell is shit, it will fall apart in a year, go for the thinkpad
>>55745008
get a mac
Latitudes are fantastic business grade laptops. Ive owned Thinkpads over the years and Latitudes. Its difficult to pick between the two since they both sustain the same build quality. Latitudes also have a nipple on the keyboard FYI... go with the latitude with the third gen i5 and then just upgrade the RAM and HDD easily by swapping out the Drive bay replacing it with mechanical storage and then placing an SSD in the HDD caddy. I upgraded mine to 8 gigs of ram so easily.
