I need an app idea /g/
automatic ddos 4chan app
An app the shows how many people are in a gym, for us social autists
Best method to kill yourself based on imei, location, contacts, ios, app history
Which torrent client do you use and why?
>>56000766
Qbittorrent just for the search engine
>>56000766
I like stallbittorrent even though all of /g/ hates it somehow.
μTorrent 2.2.1 because it just works without any problems what so ever.

Nvidia BTFO?
geez slapping two mediocre gpu chips on a board. hoped amd would come out with a fury successor.
unless this is fake
>>56000687
first we'll get 100 threads saying it'll be the best shit ever bar none AMD you did it wow this beats the tianhe-2
then we'll get a couple of disappointing leaks and a shoddy paper launch and a full 3 weeks of full blown nvidia shilling on /g/
in the end it's going to be on par with the 1070 but with better perf/price and worse perf/watt. as usual

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I'm a different anon. MAC on OpenBSD is a genuine issue.
Does anyone here own the new Macbook? What are your impressions after using it for a while.
I'm planning to buy one for my younger sister who starts high school soon.
What kind of student discounts are there?
honestly, a rMBP is better
the macbook is purely for aesthetics, no real advantage over the rest
we all know macs sucks (for our uses), the average person will love one though. that is completely understandable.
what is "new" about a mac though?
hasn't the design for macs been the same since 2011?
That thing is tiny!
Maclets, when will they learn?
I'm obsessed with the idea of finding out the best general propose language for me, to use as a hobby, and eventually professionally.
I cannot decide between C++ and C.
I come from 6 years in which I've been working in C++ both at my job, and as a hobby.
I recently came across some wonderfully written C code, and now I'm questioning if I should change my "favorite language" and try to excel in the C techniques that actually make the difference.
It just looks more minimal, straight forward, easier to debug, portable, compatible, probably even better performance-wise (don't quote me on this one, though).
I also realized that with function pointers I can even do object oriented and polymorphic stuff, and there are procedures to "sanitize" void pointers, in order to make them kinda memory safe.
In this moment I fail to see any good reason to actually use C++14/17 over C11.
Do some of you prefer C++ over C?
What are your reasons?
Please restrain from using arguments that sounds like: "I'm super smart and if other people can't maintain my code it's because they are stupid"
>>55999615
Ada or you're a pleb.
All of them. It doesn't really matter where you start. Learn all of them. No I don't mean go from language to language reading documentation I mean learn to program in every fashion currently presented and then master whatever language you need at any given moment.
>>55999615
Rust is the only solution.
So I just found out about vim plugins and want to try Linux again. Screwed around with them for awhile in college so I already have experience with them.
So what linux distros do you guys use and why? I heard Arch was the new hip thing so I might try it out.
enjoy no games
>>55999223
I use Arch but that's cause I'm just an edgy retard. Jokes aside, it's a good distro and you can get a ton out of it, but I wouldn't recommend it to beginners or anyone who isn't pretty command-line proficient. Debian (I'd recommend Testing, not Stable) and Fedora are nice places to start if it's been a while, and one of the Ubuntu flavors (Xubuntu, Kubuntu, etc) if you remember literally nothing.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

After looking for window-managers/desktop-environments I started using xfce with the i3 window manager, but, xfce-panel doesn't interface as well with i3 as i'd hope, and would now like to go to standard i3
However I like the "just werks" aspect of whiskermenu and would like to know if there is any application launcher that interfaces with i3bar/whatever-else-is-compatible-with-i3 well, and has a customizable icon
Any suggestions? I'm still relatively new to loonix, and was drawn to it by it's modulability
First for try Devuan.

A good VPN is probably good enough. Tor is slow and attracts scrutiny, but is better for extremely sensitive browsing.
