Everything's going to be hard. Computer Science and programming especially, it might be easy if you're some sort of technology prodigy or something like that, but expect a challenge.
It's going to be hard, College is tough stuff. You're going to want to give up, but don't. Keep working at it. Ask for help, get in touch with some programmers fluent in Java.

Alright guys, I kinda need your help here with OS and stuff, going to explain it as shortly as possible.

Alright so, here's the questions:
>What distro should I go? I wanted something stable but not super oudated, kinda unsure about debian here in this case. I don't want to try meme stuff, I just wanted something very solid that run well and can handle a couple VMs.
I also needed to know how easy it is to passthrough the GPU for the windows VM. I only used linux on VMs and windows as the main OS before so I'm at a loss here.
Also I always used KDE as the DE but should I try something else? I wanted something simple but aesthetically pleasing for my interface.
Bonus question, vmware has some awesome shit like the copy paste between vms / desktop functionality. Can I use vmware for the virtualization (with the gpu passthrough thing) or I need to use KVM?

First of Civ 5 and BNW run on linux systems.
Make sure that the parts you buy are supported under linux (just check a few forums).
Stable and not outdated Ubuntu or Fedora.
You could also use manjaro, but it could be a bit more unstable

i also recommend not ever booting into a closed-source operating system (this includes all versions of windows)
