I just bought a 1070, plan on upgrading to a 1080ti/big vega if it isn't shit. The problem is that I don't know what kind of monitor to get now, all I have is a basic 1440p monitor and a 1080p dell ultrasharp. I don't know what combination of 144hz, g-synch, 4k/1440p ultrawide, IPS etc. would be good for this next monitor. Budget is $1200 because that's what a 34" ultrawide with g-sync would cost. Less would be nice though

Is data in ANY way recoverable off an SSD after its Trim function has been called through Windows Optimization utility?
My understanding is when you "delete" a file on an SSD, it is still there but has been marked for deletion by a chip in the SSD. In this state the data is easy to recover, but once trim is called, the data is dumped and gone for good no matter the recovery method?

Trim certainly helps, but SSDs often move things around instead of outright deleting them, to save time. It's the weird thing about physical location not mattering like it does on an HDD. If your manufacturer offers a secure erase utility then that has much better odds of wiping the drive effectively. But on a file by file basis it's very difficult to reliably erase.

Everyone says that an SSD can't effectively be nuked to destroy data like an HDD can because of the unique way SSDs operate.
However, If you used a wipe tool like CCleaner that filled the SSD with random data until it was full, and then deleted it, wouldn't the SSD still effecitvley be sanitized? Although the SSD was moving around data and not deleting it, it was still asked to fill itself up to the brim with new data, and therefore it would be absolutely forced to eradicate all the old data?

Got a bit of a problem folks.

I've got a Note 3 tmo, latest CM12.1 nightly, works fine by itself. When I go to get the appropriate GAPPS from opengapps (ARM, 5.1, nano) and flash, upon reboot, I keep getting a notice that says, "Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped." Trying to figure out what CPU I should choose when I'll be upgrading/building my next computer.

The Ref CPU I'm using is what my friend bought for his own Computer (4460). My own CPU is an old i5 750 from aeons ago, that I could overclock if I wanted but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. I'm thinking about keeping my current PSU and possibly Ram (if I stay in the 4th generation i5). The 4590 seems like a strong contender. Suggestions?

How long after applying thermal paste before i can use my pc?

I'm using a 240gb SSD as an OS for Windows 7 on my computer. A few days ago I only filled up 40gb, but now I'm at 60gb used. I ran CCleaner but it only cleared 2gb of space.

Does this usually happen? I also recently fixed the environment variables (for TEMP and TMP variables) that fixed some issues on my computer, but would that really take an additional 20gb of space?

After a quick google search, it would appear that my PSU is fully compatible (HX1000W, corsair)

Weird as fuck issue (at least to me). I picked up an X9SAE-V Super micro board, and if I want it to boot I need to pull the battery every time. So if I go into BIOS and it reboots, nothing will happen and I need to pull the battery which leaves me unable to change anything in the BIOS.

What are the realistic sytem requirements of photoshop? Building a computer for a friend, will mainly be using it for photoshop, music editing and storage and light/retro gaming. No video editing projects.

The official site lists the requirements as a Core 2 Duo or Athlon 64, I don't think it's possible to buy a desktop processor new that isn't up to that level.

It won't magically sanitize your files, but neither will uploading them to the cloud. What you're really worried about is things that are installed to your windows system, and wiping windows will do that.

I'm currently dual booting with Win 7 and Ubuntu, but I want to switch to Arch on the Ubuntu portion. I installed it on a different computer without any trouble, but looking at the hard drive partitions I already have on this computer I have no fucking clue how I should go about installing it without fucking up Windows

So everybody here is kind of suggesting the same thing, only with a before and after difference. What you can do is delete as much crap from your system as possible, then go into disk management and shrink your C drive as much as it will let you (but leave some space for windows to grow), then use the empty space to make a new NTFS partition, and you can drop all your files onto that, and move your desktop and my documents location to it. Then every time you wipe windows that partition will still be there.

So I've been noticing every time I type and try to use my mouse at the same time the kb+m lag like hell. This wouldn't be a problem, but I play videogames.

I have an ASUS h110m-a mobo, when I updated the USB drivers the kb+m completely stopped working except in the bios.

my mechanical keyboard started to not work on PC. would stop working then I would unplug usb and replug it in and it would work. eventually it totally stopped working.

I was the guy that asked about upgrading my RAM from 1600MHz (turns out it was 1333MHz) to 2133MHz. Got F3-2133C11D-16GXL for 109AUD, had to tinker a bit in BIOS but got it stable in end.

Did an Arma 3 (DX11) & Tomb Raider (DX12) benchmark, performance went up by 10.7% & 5.6% respectively.

So if you guys have an old i5 2500k and want to improve it a bit, upgrading your RAM to 2133MHz does the trick

Yes. I need it to an actual video. I used the program to trim off some stuff in a video as it was the only thing I could find to actually do it in the way I want. Yet I'm left with an avs file type. I did try one method a couple weeks ago, but it didn't work out.

1060 is objectively better, more efficient and quieter, especially since im not gonna "upgrade" to win10, so DX12 performance is irrelevant.

Console ports will run much better on Vulkan, which will be incorporated into consoles. a 480 is enough for most games at 60fps 1080p, let alone 25fps. There's no point zeroing out an SSD. There's no point zeroing anything out incoming, just format. If you want you could find an intel utility to secure wipe but there wouldn't be much point.

Can't access WiFi at all in Windows 7. The only network adapter that is installed is the Ethernet one, the wifi adapter shows up in device manager as unknown, no drivers are installed. Windows can't find the drivers because Windows Update is deactivated (see below) and I'm not sure where to start looking. Most Google results look sketchy to me.

The sound port on the front of my computer just broke.
Not because of any inside problem but the port literally broke down inside from wear and tear.
It used to at least give off some sound when you put the cable at an angle but now it's dead.

Since my main speakers are connected to my back port I've got nothing to plug my headphones into. The module with all the front ports is really hard to get to, forcing me to remove some parts and it doesn't look that easily replaceable either.

umatrix solves that problem and gives you a lot more control.

Bluray disc should appear on my computer even if you couldn't play them.
That model is ancient, maybe its broken?
And, those drives should have 2 lens to read disc, one for dvds/cds and one for blurays.
If you have microfiber cloth try cleaning very gently the lenses.
But, other than that, it sound like the blu ray lens is actually not working.

No updates have an impact on Daz. Updates that prompt windows 10 don't really matter any more because microsoft has stopped pushing it.

So guys I bought a pair of 434MHz receiver and transmitter from eBay because they were less than a dollar and I have recently taken an interest in embedded electronics and microcontrollers and wanted to get my feet wet into RF comm
My question is, I would like to implement a packet system to transfer data error free, but the main problems are

guys please help. friend just got smartphone from company which only opens sim cards of that provider. other provider sims are blocked when inserted in phone. is there any ways to unblock it. what tools should i use? if there is tutorial that would be helpfull too please help.

Hi guys, I want to do something a little complicated.

I want to make an executable where you can just pass a string as an argument, and it will return an image in which this string is rendered in a specific font, size, with a rectangular fill behind it.

I can probably figure out the code if I'm just pointed towards the best tool/language/IDE that will allow me to make such a program quick.

Whether it would make it work on UNIX or Windows, I can probably work with it either way.

You can search for the model over on xda. You can also ask his provider to unlock the phone; sometimes they'll just do it. If he's switching to an MVNO that uses the same towers it might just werk without unlocking.
