Here's an interesting question I thought up: Has anyone on /g/ ever bought a used harddrive and found data on it that they wished they wouldn't have? Or found anything interesting on it atleast?

A lot of nudes were reported to have been found that way.

I personally didn't.
>>
>>56118224
I'm considering going on Craigslist and hunting up some used HDDs and then running some recovery software on them just for shits and giggles. Who knows what wonderful data I can mine off them?

Really though I'd probably just find copious amounts of CP.
>>
>>56118247
Nah, you obviously should expect to see mostly average people's taste.

CP isn't that popular anyhow - the vast majority of people is attracted to girls after they hit puberty, not before. (I guess that still is classified as CP in some countries... stupid shit, but you know what I mean.)

Guys I think I might need some serious help. I am posting this from a library computer because I'm too paranoid to use my own.

Basically, I am EXTREMELY paranoid about the FBI tracking my every movement on my computer, so I decided to go full on offline. I am so paranoid, that I even removed the built in wifi cards that all my computers have, including my phone. I stick to just writing letters by hand and sending them to a friend of mine who I pay to send the mails digitally, on the rare occurrence that I need to send an email in the first place. I have no job,t. I have no food, this is starting to get in the way of my life /g/, how do I completely evade the botnet? If there is no way, well, I have my noose ready.

I never actually saw Gentoo beyond its meme status. What do you think one could benefit from Gentoo?

Use flags let you decide what parts of a program you want compiled and what you want left out, which is a very nice feature that I don't think any other Linux has implemented.
>>
>>56117844
What are some instances where you benefit from it? I know this is a personal question, though I'm curious.

>if you want freedom

What the fuck does he even mean when he uses that word in the first place? I don't feel anymore free when I use Linux than when I use Windows. At no point did either operating system stop me from getting my way. Android, iOS and Mac OS are operating systems that I feel I have no control over.
>>
>>56118396
Freedom as in freedom. If the choice of a sexual partner were protected by the Constitution, "prostitution, adultery, necrophilia, bestiality, possession of child pornography, and even incest and pedophilia" also would be. He is probably mistaken, legally — but that is unfortunate. All of these acts should be legal as long as no one is coerced. They are illegal only because of prejudice and narrowmindedness.
Some rules might be called for when these acts directly affect other people's interests. For incest, contraception could be mandatory to avoid risk of inbreeding. For prostitution, a license should be required to ensure prostitutes get regular medical check-ups, and they should have training and support in insisting on use of condoms. This will be an advance in public health, compared with the situation today.
For necrophilia, it might be necessary to ask the next of kin for permission if the decedent's will did not authorize it. Necrophilia would be my second choice for what should be done with my corpse, the first being scientific or medical use. Once my dead body is no longer of any use to me, it may as well be of some use to someone. Besides, I often enjoy rhinophytonecrophilia (nasal sex with dead plants).

what is /g/'s mathmatical equation for knowing you'll wake up at the best time naturally when the alarm goes off?

according to sleep experts increments of 90 should equate to the best time.

i like to get up at 6:45 so that leaves me with either 7:30 hours or 6 hours, I'll most likely start with the 6 which means if I'm in bed at 12:30 to start falling sleep by 12:45 I should be on perfect pace

>>
what the fuck are you talking about
>>
I don't think there's a mathematical equation. It's based off the rem cycles, you can get an app that measures the rem cycles and wakes you up at the appropriate time though.
>>
>>56117675

stop being a child and ditch alarms

at most set one alarm and start your morning as soon as you wake up

I don't use IDEs at all.

More often than not I will just use Atom and if you are going to come at me with the bloat argument you can fuck right the hell off because I don't care.

My laptop can handle a couple extra instructions because it's not an autistic as fuck thinkpad from 4 years ago.

How can I free myself from the botnet, /g/? Serious question. pic unrelated

Delete any social media accounts that don't respect your freedoms (Facebook, Google, etc)

Research alternatives
eg. searx for searching, mpv+youtubedl for youtube

if your friends want to talk to you, they can text you, or else they aren't real friends anyway and you're better off without them.

use GNU/Linux (not ubuntu though)

Do all this and you'll be in a much better position than before, but remember you can never truly escape the botnet unless you destroy all your devices, fake your death and never go near the internet again
>>
>>56117242
kill yourself
>>
I just went through the process. Not too bad if you're autistic enough to crawl through the /g/ wiki and other resources, and smart enough to learn in new environments.

Basically what>>56117442
said.

You have to reanalyze what you NEED vs what you WANT. Personally I did the following.

1. Delete facebook after downloading a copy of it. Permanent option, not deactivate. Do this for any other social media including google accounts and maybe even skype. Things like amazon should be used with caution, but honestly that information is only so useful. Bricks and mortar stores are better for confidential purchases w/cash.
2. Get a protonmail account for email
3. Change computer OS to linux distro, change android OS to cyanogenmod. Make sure to format all storage to wipe windows/google bullshit
4. Get a portable hard-drive.

But then you realize you still have a media consumption addiction. If you play vidya, I have a linux hard drive for normal usage, and a win10 hard drive for vidya. That should end your being a botnet. Simply limit the avenues of data collection to what you allow. Sacrificing some may not be an issue if it's just your netflix history, but some people care about everything.

As for being off the grid, that's different.
