What's the point of "ricing" your desktop if nobody is going to see it? If you want to honor your waifu so bad why don't you make a blog/website (like that lain one)?
you get to see it though when i post it in ur thread : 3
is this the new desktop thread
>>56496724
I don't rice my desktop, but I do like it being clean and professional looking.
A clean desktop mentally makes me feel more organized and structured. I feel like shit when everything is ugly and a mess. The same applies to my battlestation.
Has anyone been or currently in this field? Whats day to day work like?
Could a mediocre quasi-script kiddie wing his way through the job or do you actually need to know your shit as to not get rumbled?

someone must have some insight?
Also wondering

People on here say most penetration testing is really simple stuff. Of course if the people you work for get hacked some really simple way and you claimed to at least cover some of their bases, and they find out you are under qualified and perhaps misleading in your resume, you may be liable to some degree. Do you really want to put other peoples security in your hands when you don't actually know what the fuck you're doing?
Daily reminder that Javascript is literally the worst language.
>"\t\r\n" == 0 → true
>"\t\r\n 16 \t\r\n" == 16 → true
>"\t\r\n 16 \t\r\n" == "16" → false
And what are you going to do about it?

> {}{}()()({){){){}()()({}(}{({
>return this
>return that
I've never understood the craze about JS. Python is better than it in literally every way.

I know this has been asked in one form or another before but what is the best programming book for beginners? It can be java, c, or python (though I would prefer one of the latter two). I am looking for something that covers universal concepts and best practices that are relevant to most, if not all programming languages. For instance, a book that talks about why it's important to comment your code, explains what if and else statements are and why you use them. I'm really interested in the global concepts of software programming in addition to the language rather than just the language itself. Thanks in advance.
After NEETing around for a couple years I finally graduated college and got my first job programming. My first paycheck is probably going to be around $800-1000 (weekly after taxes).
What should I get?
My current build:
U2410+el cheap 2nd monitor
B2030P speakers (2 no sub)
i5-6600K cpu
R9 390 graphics card
250gb ssd+bunch of storage drives.
HA-DX3 JVC headphones. Band is kind of broken but I'm working on fixing it.

Fuck you VESA. If it wasn't for 2160p60, I wouldn't be using this shit.
My linux window manager does not have this problem.

They're already in nightly: https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/36016
Example:#![feature(untagged_unions)]
union Foo {
x: u64,
y: (u32, u32),
}
fn main() {
let f = Foo {x:1};
println!("{}", unsafe{f.x});
println!("{:?}", unsafe{f.y});
}
Output:1
(1, 0)
Got a laptop here (samsung) I've only ever turned on once (got it years ago then never needed it) and I was just about to ask you guys what Linux distribution to download then I see this shit on my screen (the black shit not windows) wtf is this? Does anybody know?

I've seen suggestions of Ubuntu gentoo debian and wine so far
This whole iPhone x Android battle is really pathetic. When will people here stop forcing their own taste on others? Dont you get it?
Some people want a file browser on a phone, others want software updates for a long time
Some people want more pixels on a screen, others want good real world performance
Some people want more ram, others want faster NVM flash storage
Some people want a 3.5mm jack, others want the fastest SoC on the market
Some people want ricing, others want a consistently good looking interface
Some people want to pirate apps, others want quality and well optimized app library
Some people want an app drawer, other want a fast flowing UI with well integrated system apps
Some people want removable storage, others want guaranteed security and privacy
Some people want a budget option, others want assurance of superior build quality
Some people want bigger bezel-to-boy ratio, others want less depreciation in value
Some people want huge batteries, others want a slim design and battery efficiency
Some people want to be able to install custom Roms, others want iMessage
Its not rocket science.

What kind of OC'd monster builds are people running that they would need liquid cooling for the CPU?
I understand piping up the whole system for ergonomics and extremely low noise if you have the money, but what is the point of one of these just for the CPU? Even my friends running FX-8350s have no heat or noise problems with just a 212 EVO fan.
>>56496342
I'm using an h100i for my 8350.it idles around 15c and when under full load it doesn't hit 40c. Shits cash

Serious question, why are Russian sites always much more likely to fuck up your computer?
What do you mean.
I have never had a fucked up computer from visiting a "russian site".
Do you run Windows?
