I was approached by a recruiter offering a potential job to work for our intelligence community. This would be a dream come true for me but I've got a felony on my record for smoking pot and in general I'm a politicized hermit. Did I smoke up my dreams /g/ or can skill/patriotism still get me in there?

How do you get a felony pot charge? Definitely not for smoking, so don't lie.

You lie here, you lie on your entrance test, and they'll know.

It really is not. It isn't user friendly, doing anything on Linux is a chore, and let's not even venture into the realm of bugs - which seem to infest all Linux distros.

>m-muh windows shill
Oh hell no. I hate windows 10 with a passion and recognize it as the steaming pile of shit it really is with a camera on top. I'd love it if there was a good, VIABLE, free alternative to it.
But there isn't, so I'm stuck on Win 7 - probably for the next 5 years - or only god knows when will Windows release another decent operating system - probably never.

Linux is far better than Windows. Anyone who doesn't think so is just a moron.

>Anyone who doesn't think so is just a moron.

Or maybe - just maybe - the person has actually studied operating systems.

Windows is technically superior to Linux on most objective criteria.

For example: there's simply no comparison between the two memory management-wise; Windows implements more modern filesystem technology; Windows has security mitigations; the scheduler on Linux is dogshit compared to the Windows scheduler; the Windows API is more stable and well-designed... I could go on for hours.

Bradley Kuhn creates a shell organization to represent "software freedom", and appoints himself as ambassador to subvert linux from within.
---------

On a mailing list about an upcoming Linux conference, a discussion about whether to include a session on the GPL that protects the open source operating system quickly devolved in an angry rant as its founder piled in.

"I actually think we *should* talk about GPL enforcement at the kernel summit, because I think it's an important issue," Torvalds gently began, "but we should talk about it the way we talk about other issues: among kernel developers. No lawyers present unless they are in the capacity of a developer and maintainer of actual code, and in particular, absolutely not the Software Freedom Conservancy."

The mention of the Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) and particularly its president Bradley Kuhn seems to light the fuse in Torvalds' mind. Kuhn has been warning for some time that companies are brazenly violating the GPL, and has been arguing that it may be necessary to find a test case to take to the courts to enforce it. Torvalds seemingly does not agree.

"I personally think this arguing for lawyering has become a nasty festering disease, and the SFC and Bradley Kuhn has been the Typhoid Mary spreading the disease."

Lawsuits brought in 2009 to defend the GPL around embedded Linux company BusyBox. The cases were brought by the Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) – where Kuhn was technical director at the time – on behalf of the SFC.

Torvalds was not impressed: "That may be the shining moment for SFC, but it was *not* a shining moment for BusyBox. I'm not aware of anybody but the lawyers and crazy people that were happy about how the BusyBox situation ended up. Please pipe up if you actually know differently. All it resulted in was a huge amount of bickering, and both individual and commercial developers and users fleeing in droves. Both the original maintainer and the maintainer that started the lawsuits ended up publicly saying it was a disaster."

As such, Torvalds suggested the conference session be titled: "Lawyers: poisonous to openness, poisonous to community, poisonous to projects."

"Let's just cut through all the bullshit," Torvalds continued. "The fact is, the people who have created open source and made it a success have been the developers doing work ... The people who have *destroyed* projects have been lawyers that claimed to be out to 'save' those projects."

"Bradley Kuhn is so incredibly full of shit that this *needs* to be stated openly ... Lawsuits destroy community. They destroy trust. They would destroy all the goodwill we've built up over the years by being nice."

Is it possible to override browser (firefox in this case) behavior on opening any links?
What I want to achieve is:
>click on link
>decide if this link would open in new window/tab
>---if yes, make system handle this link (open in default web browser), or at least (if previous option is impossible for some reason) ignore attempt to open this link and do nothing
>---if no, just open the link as usual

>inb4 why would you want soemthing like this
I am using more than one browser profile at once. Let's say that one is meant to browse only banking websites and related stuff. I want the browser to not let open any link that leads to other website than the one I'm currently browsing, or in a perfect situation - to open this link in my default profile to browse other stuff.
(I can still just drag and drop any link to my default profile, that's why disabling links is an option too)

I thought about some greasemonkey script that would work on every page and override event that starts when clicking a hyperlink.

Is there anything like that? (I dind't forund anything, but it's kinda hard to describe this problem in a few words to put them into any serach engine)
Can somebody write gm script for me? (or at least tell me that it's possible to do, I know some /basics/ of js, I'll probably manage do write it on my own, but I need to know if there's a point in trying and where to start.

I know that /g/ is NOT my personal tech support, but I don't think that's the case. If you have on mind any better place where I should post this thread - let me know.

yes. Add an event listener for document, check if e.target is an HTMLAnchorElement with a src , and if not, do the same check for the parentNode until you reach document, in that case, do nothing.
If you found a link this way, call e.preventDefault and instead show your dialog.

You can do that.
As far as I know there is no way to open a link in a different web browser. You might be able to use a custom protocol (think something like torrent: mailto: or myownshittyhandler: ) and register a program for that in your OS.

Code academy is a meme intended for WebDev idiots that think they are programming.

Python the Hard Way isn't so bad apparently. I did Ruby the Hard Way and that was decent.

After you're done with Python, get into an OOP language like C# or Java, then get into C/C++. This is a good logical progression.

Why hasn't Intel or AMD made a single core cpu with a massive core that has amazing ipc and lots of cache, but with 4 threads using SMT, if single thread performance is so important?

Would give superior performance in programs that use fewer threads, and still offer solid multicore performance over 4 threads.
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>56492549
Because this isn't 1995 and there are often more than 1 program running at any given time.
>>
>>56492952
Hence why the processor will have more than one thread.

Also are you invoking
Implying that a single stronger core will perform worse than more, weaker, cores?
>>
>>56492549
Because they can't.
The problem isn't how wide you can make a core, its how effectively and quickly you can deliver instructions to the executing logic. If intel could make massively higher IPC cores without dramatically sacrificing frequency they would.

Linuxcucks proudly proclaim how making their OS less like Linux and more like Windows makes it even better than that shit-tier Windows.

vs

Linux fans angrily arguing that making Linux more like shit-tier Windows simply makes Linux shit-tier also.

BSD fans sit off to the side laughing their asses off, except for occasionally when a linuxcuck comes over to troll in the forlorn hope that slagging shit will stop the Linux fans from abandoning systemd/linux for sane superior BSD.
