Let's say you were offered a custom laptop that was built precisely to your specifications but only using technology available today.
What would its features and specs be?

bet you won't feel the same when Youtube and other video sites implement similar technology.
I'm an /o/ regular, more of a mechanic and less of a pixie wrangler, but I'm not retarded when it comes to computers. Anyways, Steam got buggy after a few months on my laptop so I went ahead and hit "uninstall" then went to download it over again. All was well until it said the steam file under program files (x86) must be empty to reinstall. I go look and sure enough there it is, full of all the files. But I can't delete the steam file or anything in it. I'm the only user, i'm the administrator and yet it says I "require adminstrator permission" to do anything to it. I can't reinstall steam until this old file is gone. BTW I had no games installed at the time. This is the fifth time in the past two months Windows 10 has been an absolute shitpile to me with this laptop. I got it for college, and so far it: Gets stuck in tablet mode if I dare try to use that feature (EVERY TIME), managed to crash just because I installed Solidworks, had to be totally reinstalled (under warranty), has been all around annoying and now this BS. Wtf is this shit? I've never been less impressed with an OS. An OS I can ignore is a good OS. This OS actively fucks me over at every opportunity.
Fuck it.

Its cool that you know all of those programming languages anybody could learn.
But can you dream in code?

Whenever someone brings up a child prodigy, there are two ways the discussion can go. Either the child actually is a prodigy and butthurt adults show off so much jealousy that it makes you cringe, or the child is really very average and the media is just looking for a cheap story.
The ONLY people who can tell which one it is are the ones who actually study the field. If someone told me about a prodigy in physics, I wouldn't know if it were true or not. I'd just sound like a butthurt adult if I criticized. Since I do know programming, I can safely say that the kid is above average for his age, but that's about it. Most programmers who are any good have been programming since they could learn to read and write. Will he be a good developer some day? Yeah, probably. Is he a prodigy set to become the next Linus Torvalds. Fuck no. To me, a prodigy is a rare occurrence. You can find at least a couple kids like him in every high school. The only difference is that he has adults in his life who are good at helping him sell his story to the media.
It's easy to find the bullshit spinners too. Nine times out of ten when a kid wants to spin his own bullshit, their age becomes the first thing they mention. They say shit like "I'm 14 and I did...". Anyone remember that guy "pavlov" who got hired by Netscape way back? They didn't even know he was still in high school until they were already offering him the job. The real prodigies don't constantly mention their age because they have the skills where they are competing with adults and their work doesn't need some disclaimer.
Real programmers don't have dreams

Okay, pretend I'm a complete fuckhead when it comes to any finance-related aspect of the web.
What administrative decisions could possibly impact 4chan's financial decisions to such a degree? Would this have happened anyway? Redpill me guys.
Also, I've had a few and didn't proofread my post.
I bet you can parse it though.

Ok so what the actual fuck is going on, I think I am done with Apple products for good
A few weeks ago the logic board failed on this (known issue, covered by Apple). Got it replaced, no problem. Laptop comes back ready to go.
I turn it on, instantly as soon as I login, I notice the laptop is very warm. I mean VERY warm. At this point I haven't done a thing, I've just logged into the OS.
I installed smcfancontrol and the temps are sitting at 55 degrees literally after I have turned the machine on. Apparently this EXCEEDS the maximum temperature that the machine can actually handle.
The question is, what the fuck is going on? The fans work fine, I can hear them and turn them up in smc.
Did the logic board fail because of heat, or is there something else causing this? What the fuck could be causing a heat problem when the machine isn't even in use?
The thing is I need this laptop to complete a recording project I am doing, then I can sell it. I just hope nothing happens between now and then, since there is only 1 month left on the Apple replacement program, and then they cut it off.

heh, i got rekt
I've used it since July 29th, 2015, and as soon as I graduate from uni and have the money, I am buying a Mac. Here's why.
Every major update breaks everything and changes all of my custom settings.
It's fast to boot, but extremely slow to start up. The search bar doesn't even work for 2 minutes.
I've tried to install the latest update 4 times. 3 times I gave up because it took too long, and the 4th time it installed and made my machine unusable, so I had to roll it back to the last build.
The app store is fucking sad. It's not even funny anymore. It's just as bad as the app store for Windows 10 Mobile (I own a WP, which I will be ditching for an iPhone when I graduate).
Mobile development is a pain in the ass because it can't do any Apple products, and everything that's not Apple works better on Linux now anyway.
Steam is abandoning Windows, and I'm growing out of video games anyway.
Linux doesn't get viruses unless you're retarded.
Everything that made .NET good for Windows is being open sourced. There will be no reason to work on Windows by 2020.
Linux and Mac are gaining market share. Both will probably hit 10% each by 2025 at the very latest.
No one cares if you have Windows skills on your resume anymore.

emperor penguin is the dead give away. That and you often see a penguin image with linux distros and linux usually names things after animals. Macaroni seems like a type of penguin and chinstrap could be a toss up.

How would I go about streaming a file in VLC(or PotPlayer or whatever really) if I do not have the direct download link(ie it ends with download?=id123 or sth)
I've recently been getting blue screen crashes on my new RX 480. I'm running an i3 until I can upgrade my CPU and I was wondering if a cpu that weak would cause the system to crash? I had it working fine yesterday and now today my pc crashes on every game I try play
I ran a benchmark test and noticed the card gets pretty hot and the fans get very loud before it crashes. Could the card be defective?

whats a UK friendly (under 3 inch blade, non-locking) multi tool, already have an SAK and looking for something different - looked at the SOG paratool but the fact you need to open it for the knife is putting me off
Does anybody see better battery life with a Chromium OS build like CloudReady? My HP Omen 15 gets 3 hours or so on Windows with everything gimped as fuck, or 2.5 hours of reasonable performance on Linux. Chrome OS would be fine for what I do for work, but that 2 hour ish battery life is a killer. Problem is I absolutely love everything else about this laptop, and can't find another that really suits me.
