I've recently been getting blue screen crashes on my new RX 480. I'm running an i3 until I can upgrade my CPU and I was wondering if a cpu that weak would cause the system to crash? I had it working fine yesterday and now today my pc crashes on every game I try play

I ran a benchmark test and noticed the card gets pretty hot and the fans get very loud before it crashes. Could the card be defective?

Does anybody see better battery life with a Chromium OS build like CloudReady? 1) What is the best defrag software for windows 7?

I'm using defraggler, its fast and easy to use, but I previously used ultimate defrag, that lets you move the files around the HDD so you can put fast-access files on the faster parts of the disk.

I'm not sure it was a meme or not, but I didn't get any problem with that, also it was superb for when moving data around when making partitions in external HDDs.

I didn't have crashes, but I had an issue with a PC game where it would only use one CPU core, so it would stutter hard. I was able to fix it by setting the max usage on each cor to 99% down from 100%. You might want to test for it.

I want to use synergy to share my mouse and keyboard between the host and guest OS (which uses VGA passthrough), without passing through a router (due to latency concerns). Basically, all I need is a way to map localhost:<some port> inside the host to localhost:<another port> inside qemu, and localhost:<yet another port> inside qemu to localhost:<some other port> inside the host, hopefully with a lightweight device so that there is little overhead.
I can see plenty of info about going host -> qemu, and I see references to the fact the opposite is doable (notably with a TAP device), but no details.

Anyone know why I can't update the driver for my AMD HD7900 to anything made September or later? When I try everything will just show a black screen with only the mouse cursor visible, even after a reboot, and I wind up having to go into safe mode to roll it back. Drivers before this point were fine.

Could it be because I am still using the old "Catalyst" settings app and have not installed the newer "Radeon Settings" app? I don't really want to have to use the new settings app since it is missing a lot of stuff that I used frequently. (Didn't even have the "profiles" feature last I checked, I used that damn near every day to easily switch resolutions or framerates when the situation dictated it.)

Grandma's "old" prebuilt pc started to have issues so we went ahead and bought an i3 6100 and a ASUS B150M-A D3 motherboard. Everything setup properly and booted fine. However for whatever reason it will not let me install windows onto the the SSD that was in the old pc (which had W10). It gives me a "Could not create partition or find existing partition". I have never had this issue installing when reinstalling windows. Every single time it told me it is going to create a windows.old and continues with the installation.

I am assuming I probably just need to reformat the SSD but then I would need to transfer all the shit off the SSD to my PC and then install windows and then copy all the shit back.

Why don't any websites can autologin on Chromium running elementary OS ?

Cookies are enabled, I check every "Stay logged in" box, but everytime I start the computer the passwords are saved but I still need to manually login.

So, whenever Chrome is up and running, the audio on my computer (whether coming through headphones or my speakers) crackles, skips a bit, and sounds like it's a corrupt file.

For instance, if I'm listening to music through, say, MusicBee or whatever, it sounds perfect. When I launch Chrome, however, the audio begins to sound like I described above. When I close out Chrome? It stops.

Is this a common thing?

Does anyone have here some experience with Schtasks?

I want to acheive this: The command (see below) is executed with Administrator privileges:

Thus making me impossible to delete the task with normal user, because i get Access Denied response

If you're trying to install windows onto a partition that already has shit on it, that's not going to work. Unless windows recognizes it as an upgrade, your choices are format or shrink the existing partition to make room for a new windows partition

Any alternative to Burnbit?

I was unscrewing the motherboard and my sweaty fingers accidentally dropped the screwdriver a couple of times. It was a tiny, lightweight one so I don't think it hurt it too much. I have video files in ogm/mp4/m4v. I want to burn those to a DVD-R disc(s) to play on conventional DVD players.

Sometimes when typing into a web browser, one or multiple logical cores stall like this, preventing me from typing anything else. The rest of the system doesn't freeze, I just can't type anything. Really fucking annoying when I'm trying to write a document.

It's only ever one or two logical cores that stall up at a time, and 5-30 seconds later it subsides. What the fuck is going on? Drivers? System load?

Nah, it copies the files just as they are, I think. I've had good success with DVDflick for windows. You can add multiple titles and get basic menu options for selecting them, if you need that. It's quite slow, though, since it has to re-encode everything to standard dvd. It also has a completely retarded gui, but again, free.

It's not dumb, but unless you have a decent understanding of harmony and are very comfortable with your chosen software (I recommend Ableton Live, just torrent it), there's no point getting hardware. As a first exercise, download a recording program on your phone, record you making a bunch of random noises like tapping on tables or bouncing objects off shit, cut the sound up into clips with software like Soundforge (again, torrent it), and turn that into a beat. There are no rules on how to make music, and there are no guidelines.
