That ram is way too low for browsing unless you browse in cli. Anyway, lxle, antix, tiny core, slitaz probably will all run pretty well.

Shill thread, sage.

Just focusing on the benchmarks, it really is sad how bad the Android flagships get embarrassed. I can vividly remember the "dual core 1GB" meme and then when the Note 7 got blown out by the 6S in speed tests people shut their mouths real quick. Now that Apple adopted a quad core and 3GB they're so far ahead it's unreal honestly.
>>
>>57411870
Someone should do the proportions on this. Android would probably be at 8 cores and 16GB of RAM then maybe that bloated OS could post respectable benchmark scores. I'm hoping Google following Apple's model of controlling hardware and software leads to better performance but they have no experience enveloping processors.

Thoughts on the new Surface Book by Microsoft?

I'm thinking of getting the the Surface Book with performance base for Christmas. I've been using a rMBP 13" for a year, but MS Excel is horrendous in macOS and I will need Excel for university.

I like the surface book because it is small, powerful and pretty. Plus it has a GTX 965M so I can play CS:GO easily with a 144hz monitor.

General MS Surface Book/Studio thread too.

It somewhat works. It's just that in some cases you will save a lot of time if you try to learn things in a more structured way. It's not like you can't eventually get down to the problem and figure out everything by yourself, but is it really worth it? Gotta put the frustration you are experiencing right now against the frustration of slowly learning boring basics and see which is the better way for you.

So here's a challenge for you faggots, see which nerd is the best at figuring this shit out.

So I played Mafia III, worked fine without any issues. Then I felt like playing some company of Heroes and as soon as the mp game loaded, my PC crashed. No blue screen, nothing, just crash.

I didn't think too much of it, so I just relaunched the game, was ready to load the mp match and bam, after the loading, crash.

I tried again with Mafia III, bam, crash. Evil Within, bam, crash. As soon as the game loads, crash.

After fucking around with this shit, I stopped getting an image on the monitor, gpu still ran. Well fuck! So I did the sensible thing, opened up my case and used the other PCI slot, worked fine.

Launched another game, loads, crash and so on till, again, my gpu was not working anymore after reset. I thought I am fucked and that somehow both ports are dead, switched back to the older one (just for shits and giggles) and it worked, fucking a meng!

Now I updated and installed drivers and the best part is that, it only does it with games after it loads (from what I've tested), but even then, it won't do it with all games. For example, Dark Souls, I can load it just fine and play around with no crash and then if I try to retry it with the other games, crash.

SO WHAT THE FUCK? I can only blame my GPU or somehow my power supply. But fuck, I simply can not fathom what the hell is wrong with this shit.

Can't be a software issue since I am getting the black screen on boot too, so won't show the image even in bios. What the fuck?

Pic related. My GPU

How can I programmatically pause audio on a firefox tab through the Linux command line?

My solution right now is to write a script that can programmatically stop and start the firefox process, but I'm not sure how to target a specific tab (using nightly btw so each tab has a process I think) to just stop that process or if I can just stop the audio process (pulseaudio?)

What is the best solution for this?
13 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
You can't now kys faggit
>>
Muting the volume through pulseaudio sounds like the correct thing to do, but I doubt that Firefox exposes each tab as a separate audio source. You could look into writing a Firefox extension so that you gain per-tab control, but I wouldn't know how to interface it with the command line (especially if not targeting the very low level Firefox API).
>>
And if you're specifically talking about pausing, not muting, this complicates the matter.

However, I think Firefox only uses an interface process and one content process for now. True multiprocessing will come, but with no guarantee that each tab will have its own process.
