I have a 60GB PS3 that has a failing RSX chip: graphics artifacts, vertices flying off to nowhere, models flashing. Other usage seems fine.
I've already disassembled it and cleaned it, no change. Is there anything to be done or is it a loud, glorified blu-ray player now? We have another PS3 slim and a PS4, but I always liked the big, chunky, over-engineered OG units and I'd hate to stuff it back in the closet.

Would upgrading to 32GB of ram be a waste of $100? I currently have 16GB and my motherboard maxes at 32GB. I pretty much just play vidya at 1440p, edit vidya footage and have 100 tabs open in browser.

Thanks guys, fell for the thinkpad meme a long time ago and now it has gone to the point my desktop is becoming useless for me, I don't do gaymen really anymore these days and just use my computer for general use.
Few months ago I bought a dock too for my thinkpad and now i just mostly use the thinkpad on dock if i want a big monitor + kb&mouse, my desktop gets any use rarely

Killing it won't do anything but you'll get noticeably lesser performance in high resource usage especially when loading or closing programs or multiple programs at the same time
Theres no way you "noticed performance being terrible" from svchost.exe and if it was truly a service called svchost.exe robbing your resources then its a virus/malware
